Several powerful spellcasers came together with a single objective: to create an artifact that would break limits and change how magic could affect the world. Some had benign intentions. They regarded it as an experiment, an opportunity to learn more about the mysterious forces in the universe, perhaps even possible understand just what exactly magic was, or where it came from. Others were not as selfless in their desires. Many of the spellcasters intended to fracture the group and usurp possession of the artifact that would be created. They aimed to grasp Power by its horns and break it like a steed. Together, they were called the Elders.

The time of the ritual came. In a large and desolate field, eighty-eight Elders carved a magic circle into the earth. The thirteen most powerful of the group arranged themselves around the center ring. The other seventy-five filled in a series of outer circles. The ritual was strenuous at best, the spellcasters were locked into the circle for a full day creating the artifact. As the night passed and the sun came up again, a blinding light encompassed the area within the circle. It lasted but a moment, as though the sun's ray were scattered by the heavy magic in the air. The artifact was created. Before the spellcasters stood a tall but simple obelisk, marking the very center of the magic circle which has become a small pool of shimmering, glowing water. The trenches caved into the ground to create the circle had filled with this water as well, flowing in and out of the pool.

And in the innermost circle, thirteen statues gazed forever more at the product of their desires. Their souls had been the price to create the Mystic Fountain. Frightened by their demise, the remaining Elders hurriedly summoned what little strength they had left for another spell. They could not destroy what they created. They could, however, seal it away. Determining that the water was the source of the Fountain's power, they created a small pocket of space, another dimension, beneath the center obelisk. The water was pulled in, and disappeared. The living Elders then fled, but they also paid a phenomenal price for their participation. They were cursed until the end of their days. The ones that came back to try to retrieve the water for themselves were slaughtered by the Fountain's own being and their souls were taken. Those that did well enough to never attempt to use the Fountain were left unscathed.

Those were the Elders that directed that something be built over the circle, in the field, anything to block the Fountain. The trenches of the magic circle were filled, and a foundation was laid over it for the building that the living Elders agreed upon - a school. They would build a school. They would teach the students about magic - when and where to use it, and what was acceptable use of magic. It would be a service to the public, to ensure that no one else would be tempted to perform such a ritual, and perhaps, if the Elders were lucky, it would help atone for their sins.

They too, had their souls delivered to the Fountain at the end of their days.

Autumn begins - and with it, a new school year. Mystic Fountain High School is a private school, but not a terribly expensive one. Many wealthy families contribute to a scholarship fund for the poorer students. Since it was first built, surrounding towns have grown and come closer to the school, and it is no longer the empty fields it used to be. The school is large, airy, and well-lit, a handsome and clean building. Gardens are tended to by students and overseen by the groundskeeper, and there are several small built ponds around the campus. Across a small field, there are smaller buildings that are dorms for students who choose to live at the school. They are connected to the school by an underground tunnel that allows students to avoid dreary weather on their way to classes.

The main building, the one originally built over the ritual grounds where the Fountain was created, is a rotunda – a round building, with a domed roof. It is four stories tall, and is one of the larger buildings on the campus. In the center of the rotunda, the ceiling goes all the way up to a skylight in the peak of the roof. Around the perimeter of this space, 13 statues are spaced, staring silently. They have been there since the beginning of the school, but a lot of the history behind who they may have been has been buried and forgotten.

This main building also contains many classrooms and offices, as well as the library and the principal’s office. The school has expanded though. In addition to the rotunda and the dorms, there are three other buildings – none quite as large as the Rotunda, but all contain more classrooms, offices, and student lounges.

But that's just boring. What the students find more exciting than architecture are the stories surrounding the school. They're passed off as mere urban legends now, but they still circulate through the halls every so often. One says that the statues in the Rotunda come alive once a year and kill someone in the school. Another says the school was built by – you guessed it – aliens. And yet another one is that every Principal is a psychopath and the school is a conspiracy, a brainwashing facility for world domination.

But mostly, people just want to know who thought it would be a good idea to put a school in the middle of America, with nothing but abandoned corn fields all around. Like, seriously. What the hell. It takes twenty minutes just to get to the nearest highway, that's just not cool.

Students who choose to live on school grounds are assigned a roommate. The dormitories are not co-ed, boys and girls each have their own seperate building. Two rooms are conjoined by a single bathroom. That means there are for students sharing one bathroom. The room numbers begin in the 200s - the second floor, because the first floor is reserved for lounges, storage, and security knick-knacks.

Many teachers and other faculty live off campus, and commute to MFHS for work. There is, however, room and board for those who choose to live on campus like the students. The key phrase here is like the students - there are single rooms for faculty lodging, but they're in the same buildings as the students' rooms.

______▸ b. Autohitting and autododging: Both are forms of godmodding. One is where you assume your attack hit your target. That is BAD. You cannot assume and keep writing as though your attack not only hit, but also had its intended effect. The other is where your character is so good at not getting hit, they never get hit, That is ALSO BAD. Characters do get hit sometimes. Never ALL the time, but never NEVER, either.

______▸ c. Mind control, mind reading, seeing the future: This…. Is tricky. It has to be done carefully. There’s a give and take. It’s not against the rules, but walk carefully when writing with psychic characters.

______▸ d. Ghosting: This is the one exception. Ghosting is when a player is temporarily controlling another person’s character for out-of-character reasons. The most common example I see is when someone is going out of town or has to log out while many other people are online and a scene is still in full-swing.

Alright, now that the intro is out the way, let me drop some basic knowledge about what you’re recapping about. Mystic Fountain High School (or MFHS as we all call it) is a magical academy that allows creatures of all kinds to come in and learn magic, be they human, werewolf, dragon, or even alien. No one is turned away from these doors (unless you’re evil. Then you go bye bye). For those of you just now getting here, it’s a bit confusing, and I’m CERTAIN you don’t want to go through 50 pages of boring junk just to post. Well, lucky for you, that’s why I’m here. I’m gonna give you the extremely fast version of what happened so far.

If you’re looking to see the backstory and such though, just go to page 1, post 2. Everything you need to know is there. ONWARDS TO THE RECAP.

So, blah blah blah, summer’s over, everyone’s coming back to school after their vacation. Students got settled into their rooms, and teachers checked in. Nothing fancy going on here yet. Soon, everyone headed to lunch, and those that didn’t meet in the halls got acquainted here. Some even met their roommates for the first time.

But of course, a bunch of magical teenagers crowded in a room together hardly ever went without incident. That came in the form of exploding vending machines and a very pissed off dwarven janitor. But such things were common in this school, so we shall not linger here.

FAST FORWARD.

Again, blah, blah, blah, students mingled outside, character development, relationships made... Honestly I’m saving you the trouble of reading all... Aha! Here we go. The first big event the school had! The opening ceremony! It’s where all the teachers got to introduce themselves to their students. Quite a time that. Lots of hilarity, especially coming from the principal.

Anyways, after the assembly finished, the students wandered the halls some more, more character development, then settled down for the night, which ended the first day of school. Well, technically. I guess the first day of school is actually tomorrow, but... Semantics. I tell ya.

RIGHT. Moving on. The first day of school is actually where things get QUITE interesting. And why most of you joined up. Because the classes start today! WOO! So, between the magic suit of armor draining magic from students, and a school fight between two seniors, one who happened to be a dragon, this day’s morning was off to a GREAT start!

So, classes began, and the odd and wacky hijinks that usually happened in a magical class happened. More character development, there was an exploding butterfly I believe, and people getting sent to Antarctica. That was fun. But that only fills up 2 periods. We still have lunch and half the day to go!
