Welcome to Last Sanctuary, a place for those who seek to find a way to leave their woes behind. (Jumanji reference, awesome, right?) Anyway, what we are is a resort for all those of the Barton realms who seek a means to escape violence and adventuring and such. That's not to say we don't have a plot going. But that plot usually winds up more slice-of-life, in addition to occasional larger scale events, like weddings and tournaments in our arena. All are welcome here, provided you follow our rules. We encourage wandering warriors, wayward souls, and even those without a home, to find solace and acceptance within our domain. Now, if you'll allow me to properly set the stage for your arrival, we can start the show, and meet our guests.

       

You find yourself in a dense forest, fog creeping among the trees, obscuring everything but the path a few feet ahead of you. Behind, you hear the croaks and hisses of the beasts in the swamp the cuts off your retreat. You have no choice but to follow the path and see where it leads. As you wander, shapes dart in and out of the mist, howls call in the distance. A sound of wings, or possibly a moving of clothing overhead may cause you to flinch, or be ready to fight, a voice inside your head telling you to hurry along the path, hoping to make it to the doors

As you finally break through the tree line, you are greeted by a sight that seems somehow even less welcoming than the beast filled forest that now lay behind. Rising from the middle of the clearing is a great black castle. Spires stab into the sky like wicked spears, gargoyles leer down at wary trespassers. All it seems to be missing is a moat and drawbridge. Just beyond it, the crash of waves against a cliff can be heard. Great storm clouds swirl overhead, losing any sign of sunlight, as well as any hope safety, as lightning periodically illuminates the sky.

Though you are tempted to retreat back along the path, the trail seems to have vanished, leaving you no option but to approach the fortress and open the great oak doors.

Welcome welcome one and all, young and old, rich or poor!

They say all the world is but a stage, and this is no less true for those that call the bustling world of Comraich their home. From the glittering nightclubs in the city strip, to the dazzling dance halls and theatres on each end of town. Above all this, and from their palace on the cliffside sit the rulers; Lucian, and his wife, the daemon serpent, Shandii.
From here, they can see everything that goes on in their world, from the bustling city, to the jungles, the vast forests, to the healing waters of the springs which run underground, the colosseum, where skills can be tested, and many cottage homes; a few of which are enchanted to be invisible to outsiders, for the sake of privacy. All of this and more, are under watch and protection by the direwolf and his queen. Not a thing goes by in this world, without these two knowing about it, as well as dealing with threats to their new home.


The excitement does not stop here though, as Comraich welcomes those of all persuasions, beliefs, and origins. Most evenings have special shows on, for those that fancy a bit of burlesque, and high class wining and dining. Why, even Shandii herself is known to enjoy a show, or occasionally perform in her own style, from fabulous cabaret dancing, to reciting works of Shakespeare, and singing for the public. There are others who perform acts of magic and death defiance, as the lights dim to a fade, so that the drinks and games never stop. Whether you're here for the shops, and city life, the burlesque night life, the fabulous games and music, or even dinner and dance, The Sanctuary has what you'll need!

Entering the front doors, a waft of pleasant warmth flows past as those grand bastions of entry swing shut to do their job and keep the heat in. Fires, black and purple, silver and gold, burn in braziers ensconced in pillars and walls, providing light in the entry hall. Hooks and baskets, cubbies and shelves, provide space to store anything one may wish not to carry through to the main halls. The surrounding walls are a mirror polished black marble with veins of white and silver webbed throughout. And of course there is a full body mirror posed to one side so any who come or go may make any last second adjustments to their appearance. Upon exiting the vestibule to enter the main hall proper: amethyst fire pits filled with golden flame and ringed in copper counters sprawl around the perimeter of the room providing an abundance of seating options, vaulted ceiling and thick, dark rafters spread above. Off to southern most side, spread along the entirety of the wall, rests an impeccably stocked bar, at the Eastern edge of which rests a door leading into the kitchen.


Straight ahead, across the dance floor and up a daïs rests a matching pair of seats. One a chaise lounge, the other a throne. North of the thrones, a hall bifurcated. One branch leads up, the other down, however in the space between the split rests a door to an elevator. At the base of the dais, flanking the stairs as if to emphasize their importance, sat a jukebox one on side and a piano on the other. Stretching out before the thrones, with a wide space in the middle for mingling and dancing, were twin lengthy tables like in a viking hall of old. Carved from the same black marble as the walls and floor, they were perched metal frames and legs molded to resemble the bones of some great beast. And finally, set against the wall behind the dais, flanking it on with two either side were four portals. One was a golden arch with gems set in at intervals and a large amethyst at the top. Another resembled an archway made from snow covered oaks. The third was a simple crystal and the last resemble the alabaster of a pharaoh's tomb, complete with heiroglyphics. Where might these portals lead, and what wonders, or even horrors can be seen beyond them, is completely up to you, if you dare look past the veils of reality, and accept the impossible.

Other Features:
Tunnels: Hundreds of twisting passages, some leading towards the beach, while others lead throughout Veles' territory
Beach at the base of the cliffs: Showers, changing areas, and storage lockers provided.
Carved into the cliff face: Private cabana that Lucian had built for Shandii
North end of the beach: Walking, and cycling trails leading around and up to the outside of the castle
South end of the beach: Grottoes and caverns, some used as mines for precious metals, rare artifacts, and gems
Crystal village: Housing area for staff members, and those who are part of Lucian's clan
Club Nile: Shandii's personal pet project, located one valley over from the main Comraich landscape
Mountain range: Several towering formations of rock and crystals, which divide the land into different valleys

1. Follow Gaia's ToS, and the rules of this thread as best you can.
2. This forum is for role-playing and hanging out only. Keep your role-plays PG13 at the most, though.
3. Sanctuary is a place to be yourself. Bullying, discrimination, or shaming in any sense of the word will not be tolerated
4. Be respectful for the people within the forum and castle.
5. Finally, enjoy yourself. The castle will surely take loving care of your needs, so long as you respect her.



OOC Rules:
1. Keep the outside world outside this thread. No politics, religion, heated topics like that. We are here to escape reality, remember?
2. No spamming, trolling, bumping, posting only in emojis, drama, or things of that nature. If there is a problem, please take it up with each other in private, or, if you feel like your issue can't be solved by talking it out, then send a private message to Shandii, Guardian Brother Kerberos, or any of the names listed on the staff parchment below. They will deal with your problems, drama, or complaints.
3. If you want to make a post, make it a coherent thought. An emoticon post, even though it can be used to describe one's mood, does not count as coherent thought.
4. Break my rules even once these days and you're gone. Permanently. We're on too thin ice with the mods to risk otherwise right now. This will not change in the future.
5. Feel free to inject yourself into the story at any point, don't be shy. The story is free flowing and welcomes change.



IC Rules:
1. Be very careful with your character's actions when handling romantic stuff. Kisses and hugs are fine, so is a bit of above the collarbone nuzzling, but nothing heated, and no Frenching, just to be safe.
2. No Godding. You can have a powerful, almost impossible to hurt character, but they need an exploitable weakness of some kind. If you can't give them one, just don't engage in combat out of respect.
3. No screwing with each other's clothes. Seems that can push things a bit too far even if nothing happens, or at least be careful how you word such things. We do try to stay classy after all.
4. Don't go pressing up against anyone in a form that might be suggestive. Again, this is just to be safe. We would hate to see anyone banned for what they thought was just innocent fun, and romance.
5. Wherever your location is within the provided realm(s), post your location like this: -Throne Room-. There are exceptions to this, if your post makes the character's location clear enough for us.

Staff Signature Recipes

Queen Shandii's
Serpent Venom
- In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine the following:
- 2 oz light rum
- 2 oz Blue Curaçao
- Strain, and pour into a cocktail glass with clear ice
- Fill the rest of glass with pineapple juice and a splash of lemon lime syrup
- Garnish with a slice of lemon and enjoy.

King Lucian's
Wolfbeer Float
- In a Toddy mug, or a beer stein, combine the following:
- 16 oz alcoholic root beer
- 3 scoops of preferred flavor of ice cream
- 4 oz flavored vodka, flavored to complement ice cream
- Stir ingredients for 5 or 6 seconds to mix well
- Top with favorite garnish, and enjoy

Prince Damien's / Princess Diana's

- In a tall glass, mix the following: / - In a collins glass, mix the following:
- 1 oz Créme de Muré / - 1 oz White Raspberry Juice

Rose of Fate
- Add ¾ tsp Butterfly Pea powder to 2 oz sparkling water, and whisk until dissolved
- In a cocktail shaker, combine the following:
- 1 oz Grey Goose, or other favored vodka
- 1 ½ oz St. Germain or other Elderberry Liqueur
- ½ oz Simple Syrup to ensure desired taste
- 2 oz Butterfly Pea infused Sparkling Water
- shake the combined ingredients
- add ice and strain into serving glass
- top with lemon juice until desired color is reached.
- garnish with a sprig of lavender leaves and enjoy

Ozzy Osbourne
Prince of Darkness
- In a shaker with ice, combine the following:
- 1 ½ oz Cognac
- 1 oz Favored Neutral Vodka
- ½ oz Blackberry Liqueur
- ¼ oz Simple Syrup
- Shake well, until everything is fully chilled, and blended thoroughly
- Strain into a rocks glass, and smoke it lightly, until glass fogs at the top.
- Garnish with fresh blackberries, an edible bat, and enjoy this tribute to Ozzy.

Classic Recipes

Jack Frost
- Rim the edge of a champagne flute with sugar, coating evenly, and set aside
- In a shaker tin filled with ice, combine the following:
- 1 ½ oz blue raspberry vodka
- ½ oz blue curaçao
- Lustre Dust or edible shimmer
- Shake well until everything is properly chilled and blended thoroughly
- Strain into the base of the flute, top with champagne, and enjoy

Alluring Lullaby
- Rim the serving glass with pink sugar
- in a collins glass, mix the following:
- 1 oz Lavender Bitters
- 1 oz Pink Lemonade
- 1 ½ oz Tonic Water
- shake the combined ingredients
- add ice and strain into serving glass
- top with lemon lime soda
- garnish with a sprig of lavender and a lemon wheel and enjoy

The Godfather
- In a dark mixing glass, stir together the following:
- 2 oz blended Scotch whisky
- 1 oz Italian Vermouth
- 2 dashes Angostura Bitters
- Strain the contents into a chilled cocktail glass
- Garnish with charred lemon zest, or charred orange zest, and enjoy.

Blue Glacier
- Slice a wedge of lime, and rim the edge of a martini glass, coating it evenly with sanding sugar
- In a shaker tin filled with ice, combine the following:
- 1 oz white rum
- 2 oz white cranberry juice
- ¼ oz Lime juice
- 1 ½ oz blue curaçao
- Shake the drink for about 20 seconds.
- Strain into a well-chilled martini glass and enjoy.

Heart of Darkness
- Add ½ to a full tablespoon of crushed dry ice to the bottom of a martini glass
- In a collins glass, mix the following ingredients.
- 1 oz apple vodka
- 2 oz Viniq purple
- Add ice cubes to shaker to chill the drink, shake it all up.
- Strain into martini glass
- Pour a teaspoon of grenadine in glass with ingredients for a 'bleeding' effect
- Add another teaspoon of crushed dry ice, for smoky effect
- Garnish with strawberry 'heart', a fresh blackberry, and enjoy

Also available without dry ice

Tokyo Snowdrift
- In a shaker tin, combine the following:
- 2 oz vanilla vodka
- 2 oz Godiva white chocolate liqueur
- 1 oz white creme de cacao
- 1 oz half and half
- Slice a wedge of lemon, and rim a martini glass with it, and sanding sugar
- Shake well until fully blended, strain into martini glass, and enjoy.

Frozen Paradise
- In a shaker tin filled with ice, combine the following:
- 1 oz clear vodka
- ¾ oz raspberry liqueur
- 2 oz lime juice
- Shake until drink is completely chilled, and strain into martini glass
- Garnish with fresh raspberries, a sprig of rosemary, and enjoy.

Holy Water
- 3-5 strawberries
- Crushed ice to fill glass
- 1 oz Strawberry Vodka
- 1 oz Bacardi white Rum
- 4 oz Lemonade
- 1 oz Blue Curaçao
- Splash of lemon juice and blue food coloring to taste
- Garnish with a white chocolate strawberry, and enjoy

King Midas
- In a rocks or collins glass, combine the following:
- 2 oz Prairie gin
- 1 oz sweet Vermouth
- ½ oz spiced pear liqueur
- ¼ teaspoon grapefruit Bitters.
- Stir ingredients over clear ice for twenty to thirty seconds.
- Strain drink into coupe glass, or a cut crystal chalice, and top with Champagne
- Taking a fresh lemon, remove a coin sized amount of the peel.
- Squeeze the oil from peel into the drink, add the peel itself, and enjoy.

Poison Mists
- In a dark shaker tin filled with ice, build together the following:
- 1 oz Jägermeister
- 1 oz dark rum
- ¾ oz freshly squeezed lime juice
- ¾ oz of 1-1 simple syrup
- ½ oz egg white
- 1 capsule activated charcoal
- Shake ingredients all together ice included
- Strain into a chilled coupe glass, and enjoy

Frozen Lake
- Dip the rim of a martini glass in warm honey, and coconut flakes until coated evenly
- In a shaker tin filled with ice, combine the following:
- 2 ¼ oz clear vodka
- ¾ oz Blue Curacao
- 3 oz pineapple juice
- 2 tbsp Cream of Coconut
- Shake until completely chilled, strain into martini glass, and enjoy

Protection Charm
- Add ¼ to ½ tablespoon of dry ice to the bottom of a martini glass
- In a cocktail shaker, shake up the following ingredients together:
- 1 cup pomegranate juice
- 3 oz strawberry basil vodka
- 3 oz Chambard raspberry liqueur
- Strain, and pour into martini glass over the dry ice
- Garnish with a miniature silver or steel arrow, two strawberry hearts, and enjoy

Naughty and Nice
- In a collins glass, chill and mix the following:
- 1 ½ oz clear vodka
- ¾ oz peppermint schnapps
- ¾ oz white chocolate liqueur
- Pour into a martini glass rimmed with red sugar, crushed candy cane, or both.
- Garnish with a candy cane as desired and enjoy.

Drink Me Potion
- In a large shaker filled with ice add the following:
- 1 cup simple syrup
- 1 cup white cranberry Juice
- 1 cup pineapple juice
- 2 oz clear Vodka
- 2 oz Blue Curaçao
- ¼ to ½ oz Butterscotch schnapps per glass
- Silver Shimmer or Lustre Dust
- Shake until chilled all the way through.
- Layer in a small amount of butterscotch Schnapps mixed with silver shimmer in the bottom of the bottle.
- Very slowly pour the rest into your bottles. Give a gentle swirl to the bottle, and enjoy!

Spiced Honey Harvest
- In a saucepan, bring together the following:
- 11-12 oz apple cider
- 11-12 tbsp salted caramel sauce
- 4 ½ tsp cinnamon sugar
- 2 ½ tsp nutmeg
- 5 whole cloves
- Star Anise to taste
- Heat saucepan contents on top of stove or in microwave
- Remove from heat and strain thoroughly after ingredients are mixed.
- Let steep for about 15 mins and heat back up, pouring 2-3 cups into a mug.
- Top with steamed milk, garnish with ½ tbsp warm honey, and enjoy.

Harvest Princess
- Combine the following in a medium saucepan:
- ½ cup of heavy cream
- 2 cups whole milk
- 2 tsp of golden or fine white sugar
- Bring ingredients to a simmer. Bubbles should be around edges but do not fully boil.
- Remove from heat and immediately add 6 oz of finely chopped white chocolate.
- Add in ¾ cup raspberry purée, 1 ½ tsp vanilla extract and a dash of salt
- Whisk everything together for 15 seconds, garnish with whipped cream, fresh berries, and enjoy.

Winter’s Warmth [Non Alcoholic]
- In a medium saucepan, combine the following:
- 1 cup half and half
- 3 cups 2% milk
- 1 ⅓ cups white chocolate chips
- Bring ingredients to a simmer, whisking occasionally but do not fully boil.
- Continue whisking until the chocolate is melted and the mixture is hot.
- Remove from heat, and immediately add simple syrup to taste.
- For a more alcoholic version, add in white creme de cacao, or white chocolate liqueur to taste
- Rim a set of mugs in blue sprinkles and twist to coat more evenly.
- Fill with white hot chocolate, top with whipped cream and more blue sprinkles.

Helluva Latte Gingerbread
- In a slow cooker, add in the following:
- 8 cups whole milk
- ¼ cup pure maple syrup
- 2 tsp brown or golden sugar
- 3 tsp ground ginger
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 2-6 cinnamon sticks
- 5 whole cloves
- ½ tsp freshly ground nutmeg
- 3 ½ cups espresso or strong coffee
- Cook on medium heat for 3 hours or until everything is heated through evenly.
- Turn back heat to low setting, and cook for another 2 hours stirring occasionally.
- Add in favored alcohol, stir once more before serving, and taste with wood spoon.
- Rim glasses with caramel sauce, and gingerbread cookie or graham cracker crumbs.
- Top with whipped cream, garnish with caramel sauce and a gingerbread cookie and enjoy.
