Welcome to Gaia! ::

Ah >< I keep forgetting when I go to the bookstore to pick one up. I need to tattoo it on my arm. *Goes to work tattooing*

Ohhh, but just so you know, if you live in a podunk little city/town/village like I do, they don't have them at the bookstores. I get mine off of Amazon; they're about the same price with shipping included. (They're at Amazon for $14 I think and then some for shipping...)
Hm... Here's the bunny scarf I made from the EGL tutorial.

http://community.livejournal.com/egl/6667292.html

I love my bunny scarf! It's so warm and unique. Whenever I wear it, people stare and old ladies tell me how much they love it... Plus it works over your head as a hood, and around your neck.

heres the pattern i used for my dress
http://www.mccallpattern.com/item/M5564.htm??tab=out_of_print&page=1
i used the pink dress; shortened it, cut a scallop edge on the bottom, added lace and a ruffle, star shaped pockets, and a cinch bow in the back (( heart heart my mom for helping me SOO much with it))
Yum, I love threads like these.

Thanking everyone for all the links.
Is it okay if I make a request?

I've been dying to make poofy cuffs in the same sort of shape as the ones on this dress, but I've not yet come across a tutorial and I'm a bit scared (and inexperienced) to just try my hand at cutting and sewing at random... Can anyone help?

i dont have a link for you sorry, but judging by how they look id say theyre arent 'poofy' per say.. more like the cuffs would just drape down if you held you arm out strait.

so a tutorial on a gathered seam (i guess o.O) would probably be your best bet on replicating it.

see if this makes more sense as to what i mean by not poofy

If anyone lives in MA i found a store but the book is in Japanese but there's patterns (pattern book) and its at Meadow Glen Mall and its in the gaming store Harrison's ask for it and i QUOTE lolita coustumes are nnot in simplicty

Those look pretty promising! I may have to make room for my sewing machine again...

If you look on Simplicity's website under Costume they have some really cute dress patterns that can be easily modified to be a Loli-style staple.

You could also go to their pattern search page. I recommend looking for pattern numbers:
3635- 18th Cent. Undergarments, great corset and chemise patterns, and while I've seen better paniers this one has the advantage of coming in several lengths.
3637- 18th Cent. Costume, meant to go with the above. Again, I'm not fond of the paniers, but this one has great sleeves and can be shortened while still staying cute. You can also chuck the skirt on it entirely and switch it out for a gathered circle skirt if you're good at adjusting patterns.
4947- Capes, my fave cape pattern EVER. I've made several off of this pattern for pretty much every era you could think of and they all turn out wonderful. It's especially good in cotton velvet lined with fine wool for really cold nights.
5363- A bunch of fantasy costumes. I love this one for the Loli look- shorten the pants (D/E) and put in ties/elastic at the knee, then put it with pretty much any variation of the top and it's an awesome innocent Baby-Doll Loli outfit.

Any of the patterns in the Short & Sassy section of Costumes are great too, with fabric modifications... unless you WANT to look like a pirate, that is... but my favorite out of this section will always be pattern number 3685. I just LOVE the coat, and you can make it to match almost every outfit (although you might have trouble getting it on if your top has poofy sleeves since the coat sleeves are pretty tight at top).

when you look for a modern pattern, you need to look for the bones of a good loli dress, not one that tells you where to put the frills and lace and everything. also, i dont see how period patterns for undergarments could not be lolita. neutral i mean, its petticoats and frilly pantaloons.. change colors as you wish, whatever, its still appropriate to the lolita style. but again i stress, its the bones of the dress that make it loli, when i get pics of my loli dress up here, youll see. i used an "easy stitch & save" pattern by mc calls (which is another big name just like simplicity).

Thanks, this made me find a whole bunch more links to go off of.

I have to make my own sine it would be awkward to ask my parents to buy me a dress. They would kill me. . .sometimes it would be better to be a female.

at least my avi could be dressed more adorable.

I have to scan the pictures from my Gothic Lolita Bible so I can see if I can post some up for you all as well.
