Personality» Dakota is a very passonate person. If you happen to be a friend in trouble he will do everything in his power to help you out. Dakota also veiws things not just in black or white but also grey. He knows that sometimes people do things they wouldn't do if they had another choice. He also very caring, he had been helping out his mother at the vet calming the animals down and just talking to them.
He is the type of guy who will sit down with you and listen as you vent your troubles. Afterwards he will tell you what he thanks but say that the decision is ultimately up to you. Dakota is a determined young man who puts his all into anything that he does. He gives a hundred percent in all the things he has a interest in.
Biography» Dakota is part of the native Ohlone tribe. When he was born a medicine man from his tribe looked at him before replying to his parents "He has been blessed by the good nature spirits." During his childhood Dakota loved nothing more than to be out in the forest. He loved to go camping being in nature seemed to calm him and animals always seemed pretty at ease with him. His parents often notice that he would talk back to the animals that came near him. Making the same sounds that the animals would make. At first they thought he was just protending to talk to them but that soon change. One day when Dakota was at the vet with his mother he notice a sick dog.
He asked the dog what was wrong and the dog told him that he was having trouble breathing. He told his mother what the dog had said and she decided to check it out since he was so instant. She checked it out and found that something was indeed wrong with the dog's lungs. From that day forward his mother believed him and had a feeling that her son was a mutant. Which really didn't matter to her or her husband, he was there son and that was that. Though they would later learn that it wasn't his only power.
They learned about his other two powers when he was around the age of twelve. He was on a camping trip when he notice a wolf far off in the distance. The thing was that his father didn't see it when he pointed it out to him. The reason his father couldn't see it was because it was out of his visual range. Though Dakota couldn't understand why he couldn't see it especially since his father had near 20/20 vision. It was during that same camping trip that he wonder what it would be like to actually have the strength and abilities of the animals. He imagine being able to have the all the skill and abilities of a wolf in his mind. While he was having these thoughts his body slowly started to change. He started sprouting fur his body got bigger and legs, arms, and face change shape. When his father walk to the area he had left his son he was face to face to what he thought to be a real live were-wolf. Which caused him to shout whith caused Dakota's eyes to snap open and look to his dad wondering what caused him to shout. He notice that he was at eye level with his dad. He thought that was strange so he looked himself over and notice the changes causing him to go into a bit of a shock. His father soon realized that the were-wolf was in his sons clothing. "Dakota is that you?" After some time they eventually learned how to get Dakota back to his normal self after. They also learned that Dakota wasn't just limited to a wolf like creature but could change into other hybrid creatures.
After these events is was pretty clear that Dakota was a mutant though one with some pretty interesting abilities. As the years went on Dakota kept his abilities mostly a secret. A few close friends knew about his abilities and promise not to tell no one. Over those years he trained hard to learn about his abilities, He also worked with his mom at the vet learning all he could about vet. Though he didn't only use his powers to help out animals. Using what he dub his "shifting" ability he helped out people who got lost in the forest, people who were drowning and stop a few crimes in these shifts. It had started up rumors of mythical creatures saving and protecting people.
It was at this point that the X-Men notice these activities and eventually found Dakota. They told him what they were about though Dakota already knew about the school Dakota didn't know what to do quite then and there and asked them to let him think about it. They left him a contact number to call them if he had anymore questions and to let them know what he decided. He really didn't think he needed to learn anything else but still thought about being at a place that allowed him to not have to hide his abilities and meet more people like himself. So in the end he decided to try it out. Besides if he didn't like it he could always just move back home.
