Personality» Lillian can't help but feel rather cynical and pessimistic. She is usually suspicious when someone approaches her or attempts to initiate conversation, as she is convinced that very few people would actually want to interact with her due to her grotesque appearance. Typically, she avoids confrontation and will not speak unless first spoken to. She is not harsh, but rather ambivalent and hesitant around strangers. However, if she can tell that someone is genuinely being friendly towards her, her attitude will warm up immensely, and she will behave in a similarly friendly and accepting manner. In all honestly, she is desperate for social contact since she is prone to distance herself from others. She is ecstatic when someone considers her a friend, and is extremely dedicated and loyal towards those who are affable towards her. In a similar vein she loves physical contact, pleased by even a shoulder brush, and would kill for a hug. She is curious and inquisitive, although still extremely cautious. She has a strong thirst for knowledge.
Biography» Lillian was raised in a typical household without a particularly notable childhood. She didn't have any siblings, but her parents were caring and she did her best to live up to their expectations, being well-behaved and intelligent. Aside from an eagerness to learn, she had a seemingly natural knack for swimming. Being the top swimmer in her district prior to developing her mutations earned her recognition and respect from a majority of people. She had an abundance of people who at least knew her name and an impressive handful of friends.
She underwent a major life change in her recent past. She fell into a deep sickness near the middle of summer, bedridden and nauseous. As she lie bedridden for a week, her body began to develop its amphibious features. At first the symptoms were interpreted as a sign of disease by her parents, but as they became distinctively frog-like they began to suspect that their daughter was a mutant. Concerned for their own safety and figuring it'd probably be better for Lillian, they organized for her to be picked up and brought to Xavier's school. Lillian, in a dazed state, was unaware of the changes occurring to her body and only knew that she was severely ill.
The night before she was destined to be retrieved, the final factor of Lillian's powers developed. As she was sleeping, she began to exhale hydrogen chloride, filling the house with the toxic fumes. Her parents both died during the night from inhaling the gas. When she awoke, she felt strong enough to arise from the bed, her transformations having been completed. Excited to tell her parents about her recovery, she was then terrified to find that her skin was foreign and amphibious. Soon after, she discovered the bodies of her parents. Terrified and confused, she sent a text to the police and had them come to her house.
When the police arrived, she was still unaware of her poisonous emissions and accidentally caused the deaths of several of the officers. After a struggle of a few hours of attempting to safely retrieve Lillian from the house, an investigator identified the gas and deciphered that she was the source. The police then entered the building with protective gas masks and Lillian willingly turned herself over. She was unable to explain her situation due to being unable to speak with the newly developed prehensile tongue.
Within the next few days the representatives for Xavier's school were able to trace her absence from the house to the police force, and after much explanation of how Lillian wasn't an intentional criminal she was transferred into their custody. She had spent most of her time with members of staff, attempting to bring her powers under better control. She also had assistance with speech therapy to help her speak with her new tongue. She had a discussion with Hank who was sympathetic enough to develop a pill for her which would assist in controlling her poison secretion. It has to be taken regularly and stress or volatile emotion can still generate the poison from her skin. She has become somewhat better at avoiding miasma emissions, although she wears a gas mask like device for safety. The mouth opening of the device through which she speaks snaps closed if she should begin to breathe out hydrogen cyanide, supplying her with oxygen from a small tank on her back and collecting the dangerous gas in a separate tank. Currently she is still trying to come to terms with her unfortunate mutations.
