→These are a few of my favorite things.

❖ running : Devon is an athletic guy, and running is how he stays in shape.
❖ swimming : Who doesn't like swimming? Once the weather turns warm, you can usually find Devon in the pool.
❖ horse-back riding : Animals are cool; especially horses. Devon has been riding horses since he was a little kid.
❖ adventure : Staying home all of the time is boring! Everyone needs some adventure in their lives
❖ making money : Money is how you buy things. Devon likes having things. Naturally, he enjoys making money.
❖ girls : This is self explanatory. girls are beautiful.

→Hate is a strong word

❖ rejection : who likes being rejected? NO ONE! Not like it would ever happen to Devon anyway...
❖ pain : ouch.
❖ being ordered around : No one tells Devon what to do!
❖ wasting time : Why sit around and do nothing when you could be out in the world living your life?

→I'm not afraid of anything!

❖ not accomplishing anything : No one likes to be a failure...but Devon in particular just doesn't like the idea of his life being for nothing. He wants to do something with his life and make the world a better place - or...at least a different place.
❖ never finding love : Devon is a romantic at heart - he's charming and flirtatious, but he truly does want to find love. The problem is, he doesn't think that will ever happen.
❖ jail : The kid has been in a couple of sticky situations, and the law just frightens him. He hates the idea of being behind bars.

→All about me

❖ confident : Devon knows who he is - is that so wrong? He never hesitates in his actions, he never backs down from anything. Complete confidence in every move he makes and everything he says.
❖ spontaneous : He's not a big planner...things just happen.
❖ charming : He's a ladies man, what can he say?
❖ flirtatious : Girls can't resist him, and he doesn't like resisting girls. Devon has been known to flirt with just about anyone.
❖ laid-back : He isn't one to get worked up over nothing, he tends to be laid-back and without a care in the world. most of the time.
❖ self-centered : Who doesn't like Devon? No one, that's who. He can be a little conceited and self-centered...it's not his fault that's he's so wonderful, right?
❖ sensitive : He's a MAN! A very sensitive man, of course, but a man none the less. Sometimes Devon falls hard, or he gets emotional sometimes. He has feelings, and he's not afraid to show them.
❖ humorous : Devon loves to joke around, and people laugh!
❖ daring : Adventure is his middle name! Devon loves to try new things, go on adventures, and just live life to the fullest.

My story: Devon has never known his parents - he's an orphan. He doesn't like to call himself an orphan...but that's what he is. He is pretty sure that his mother died shortly after he was born, and his father just couldn't or didn't want to take care of him. So, he has lived with a very nice old lady for most of his life. She takes care of him, and tries to find people to take him into their homes. Devon thinks that's ridiculous, and resents anyone for thinking that they want to "adopt" him. In one more year, he'll have to move out and take care of himself. It is ridiculous for anyone to try and take care of him now - he's pretty much been doing it on his own for the past seventeen years of his life. He finds it ridiculous to think that anyone would even want to take care of him at this point.

Devon has been going to Camp Varonis since he was fourteen - yes, he is a seasoned camper. It was something that the orphanage thought would be a good idea - and they were totally right. When he started going, the camp wasn't quite as popular as it is now. There was hardly anyone there his first year, but that was okay. As the years have progressed, more and more campers have shown up. He has made new friends, as well as met some new girls every year. He loves going to camp because it acts like an escape from the real world. Devon tries his best to have fun at Camp Varonis every year, and make at least one friend a year.

Devon had left for camp before anyone in the orphanage could even talk to him. They were pretty lenient with him lately due to the fact that he was a lot older than many of the other kids. They were learning to respect him, and understand that he was going to be an adult soon. This year was one of his last years, and they realized that Devon could pretty much do whatever he wanted. So, this morning, the boy had woken up early, packed, and gotten on the bus to get to Camp Varonis. Of course, when he went to transfer buses, he somehow missed his bus. Dev had ended up on a bus that was taking him to pretty much another state - which had been pretty cool...except that it just wasn't where he needed to be. Devon absolutely loved the idea of traveling to far off countries - or even just around his own country. That being said, he knew that he couldn't do that until after he hit eighteen. While that was only a year or so away, it was quite a while away. He wanted to see the world, but knew that he was very limited in what he could do.

Eventually, Devon found his way to a bus that would take him directly to camp - the bus that he should have taken in the first place. "My grand adventure will have to wait" he said to himself as he boarded the bus and sat down. It took a while to actually get to Camp Varonis, he had no idea that he had been so far away. Oh well...he supposed that he would get there eventually. It was already well past one, which meant that he had most definitely missed orientation. As if that was important. Orientation was just where they introduced the main camp directors, and told all of the new people how it worked around camp. It was nothing that Devon didn't already know. Orientation wasn't a crucial part of camp that the boy needed - especially because he had been coming to camp for years. It was basically his home away from home. The boy loved pretty much everyone there, he loved all of the fun activities, and he loved meeting new people and doing new things. New experiences were what Devon lived for, and he wanted to experience as many things before he died as he could. Unfortunately for him, adventures would have to wait for another year. For right now, Camp Varonis was his only adventure.

Soon enough, Devon was at camp. He was happy to see the place that had been his home for years now. He loved everything about it - the lake, the cabins, and even the office. There were new campers milling around, as well as some familiar faces. The boy saw some of his old friends, Bradleigh, Carter, Thayer, Brandon, and Spencer. There was someone new with them, and they looked kind of busy. Dev waved at Bradleigh, who happened to be one of his closest friends here. She was kind of a pain in the a**...but she was also immensely cool. They had dated before for a while, but it just hadn't worked out for them. They were still really close, and he was really happy that they were. Brad was a great friend - she always listened, was always there, and always knew how to have fun. Devon didn't really feel like being with a large group right now, so he didn't go over there to talk to them. He would see all of his friends soon enough.

Until then, Devon made his way over to his cabin: cabin number 10. He wondered if his old cabin mate was still around, Jasper Kingston. He had been here last year, and the two boys had shared a cabin. They weren't exactly the closest of friends, but it was always nice to be near someone who was familiar. Then again, making new friends was fun too! The boy threw his bags down onto the floor and then headed outside again. He walked around for quite some time, until he heard a somewhat familiar voice: Lillian Roberts. Also known as Lili. She was friends with Carter, who Devon had known for a while. Indirectly, he knew of Lili. He hadn't heard of the girl whom Lili was talking to. This chick was sitting around with her nose in a book...but she was absolutely gorgeous. With that long brown hair and those big, curious eyes. Dev couldn't help but want to go over there and introduce himself. He grinned and made his way over to the girls. "Hey Lili, making new friends?", he asked before nudging the girl lightly. The boy turned his attention to the newer girl and gave her the most brilliant smile he could muster. "Hello there. My name is Devon Crawford. But my name isn't important - I'd love to know yours."
