[Personality]

Alastor has a bit of an impatient and apathetic demeanor about him while teaching in class that makes him come off as intimidateing and unapproachable, but it actually has nothing to do with the students, it's because he loathes his job. He doesn't mind teaching, but the fact that his job cost him the life that he really wanted still stings a little. Mister Ricketts is actually a very compasionate guy, but he chooses to keep to himself, for fear of investing too much and ending up getting hurt again in the end. However, if asked questions, students will find him unusually open to any type of problem solving as long as he isn't in a bad mood.


[History Synopsis]

Alastor actually lived one of the most normal and typical lives out of the council. Seeming to be completely human, he blended into society easily, only useing his powers in an emergency rather than everyday practical matters because he didn't really have a choice; He had fallen in love and married a mortal woman named Miranda, something unheard of in the ebon council, and if she or his daughter found out about his true identity, his world would fall apart. He knew that eventually they would find out as they grew older and he didn't change, but he hoped by then they would understand. Over time though, it became clear to Miranda that Alastor was keeping secrets. She assumed he was cheating on her due to multiple everyday calls on the phone with another woman that he wouldn't let her hear, and how he frequently disappeared after the calls for long periods of time. This was a justified conclusion, however, it was not the right one. The calls were from one of the headmistresses, and he couldn't let her listen in due to the risk of Miranda finding out that he was not just a normal human being, so when she confronted him, he had no alternate explaination, and was forced to let her go. She took their daughter and left without a trace, and Alastor has never quite been the same since.



[Strength Synopsis]



-Potions Master: Alastor always has potions on hand for every situation, healing poisons, enhancing attributes, immunity, etc. Which is a large advantage on the battle field when a group is without a healer, or enhancement magic specialist.

-Shapeshifting; Alastor is a master of transfiguration, or Shapeshifting. He can turn himself into just about anything he's seen before and gain its abilities, as well as turning other people and creatures into anything he desires.

-Efficiancy; Alastor always likes to get things done and is rather quick and efficient in doing so effectively. You can count on him to get the job done, no matter how trivial the task.

-Multitasker; Alastor can handle several things at once, staying calm when most people would feel overwhelmed and still proving to be effective.



[Weakness Synopsis]



-Limited Magic; Alastor doesn't know much magic other than Shapeshifting, and a few spells to help create potions that wouldn't really be effective in battle, so he has nothing but brute force and potions to help him through.

-Cant Use Weapons; Alastor doesn't tend to practice or use weapons, because when he shapeshifts he usually turns into some form of animal and uses whatever he gains from his new form to his advantage.

-Defenseless; Alastor doesnt wear armor because if he shapeshifts into something he will loose or break whatever he is wearing, so when shifting for battle he tries to turn into something with thicker defenses such as a bear or dragon. He can use a shield when he is in human form, but tends not to because he would just end up dropping it when he shifts.

-Shifting Limits; Alastor can only shift into creatures he has seen and studied thoroughly. He may know of a creature, but that doesn't mean he has seen it himself or studied it and it's capabilities up close. The reason he needs to do this is because he needs to know what changes he needs to make to his own body to replicate a fully functioning creature or object. The more complicated the target, the more time he needs to perfect it.


[Character Strengths]


-Problem Solver; Alastor loves nothing more than solving people problems and making things simpler. He loves it when students come talk to him after class to ask questions, all of which he's happy to answer and give his input. He's usually the one who can solve Rowena or Deans riddles first.

-Cares when it counts; Although he often comes off as intimidating and apathetic, Alastor cares deeply for his students. He's strict in the hopes that students learn discipline and the material he teaches in class, but is open to serious discussions and loves when anyone calls on his help or knowledge, although in return he likes to see improvement as well.

-Reverence; Alastors intimidating presence and upheld authority has earned him a reputation. He is one of the few teachers who troublemaking students try not to mess with too much lest they get a pack of extra homework or lunch detention. He deals punishments as he deems fit because he doesn't tolerate foolishness during class, but the fact that he is so willing and eager to help students has earned a lot of respect.


[Character Flaws]



-Security Breach; Alastor can seem quite apathetic and oblivious when deep in thought, or when he isn't sure what to do or say. He sort of shuts off all emotion which can be bad when it is taken the wrong way. This side of him often comes out while teaching or when he feels overwhelmed, and his reaction is to suppress everything to prevent getting too far in over his head.

Too close for comfort; Alastor tries not to get too close to students or anyone for that matter. Because of his past he has learned not to invest himself too much into anything because he feels that if it is taken away it will hurt more than its worth.

Sarcastic; Alastor is very sarcastic, especially when in one of his bad moods. It makes him come off as rather snarky and unbecoming, as opposed to his true personality.

[Interests]



Alastor can often be caught reading a book, writing, filling out forms, or making potions in his spare time. He doesn't tend to go searching for people, but doesn't object to people looking for him. Occasionally he also roams around the hallways or outside at night. Students rumor he's looking for anyone crazy enough to be up and about after hours.


[Dislikes]



Alastor can't stand disobedient students and often puts troublemakers in their place, nor does he like it when he realizes he is taking too much of a likeing to a student or teacher, and often backs off or becomes even somewhat hostile to said person. He isn't very social but doesn't mind people, he also doesn't like being in situations he can't fix or handle.

-Alastor uses whatever natural advantages he receives from Shapeshifting, but otherwise doesn't use weapons.

-Mister Ricketts used to be a married man, but is now divorced and alone, something he never thought or wanted to happen. It is not likely he will ever be in a relationship again, even if he wants to be, he won't let himself or anyone else go though the pain.
