Welcome! The Daffodil Movement is hosting our first-ever Virtual March for cancer awareness. We'd like anyone and everyone to be a part of it!
How it works.
Meet us at 6 Barton 001046 on April 25 and April 26. Starting at 12:00pm EST we will march due west, talking, having fun, and spreading cancer awareness on a mass scale. Don't forget to dress in your best jogging outfit. whee
What is the Daffodil Movement?
This is a cancer awareness movement originally brought to Gaia in support of Long Vo (aka VO, art director and admin here on Gaia) whose father died from cancer April 9th, 2006. The Daffodil Movement is usually held through the month of April. Traditionally during the event, users equip a daffodil bouquet on their avi to show support. The yellow daffodil is a symbol of renewal and hope, chosen by the American Cancer Society as an icon for the fight against cancer. Click the banners to go there and see what all we've been doing.
Do I have to be involved with the Movement to join?
No. Everyone is invited. Just show up and go^^ Of course we'd love it if you could be involved with the Movement, but not everyone has the time or desire to. Joining the March can be a small but meaningful contribution on your part.
What's the point of having a Virtual March? No calories burned, no money raised, right?
What this march is really about is connecting with everyone involved with the Daffodil Movement. That's why it's held at the very end of it... as a sort of farewell party for everyone we've spent the last month with, sharing our stories and learning new things about this disease and how it affects the world. This is a new thing for us, so a lot of it is going to be played by ear. But I know that I for one look forward to meeting everyone in real-time. 3nodding And hopefully, by bringing in others from all around Gaia, we can generate more interest for TDM next year.
