Have you tried scanning other stuff? Like a magazine or photographs?
And have you checked the settings on your monitor?
I know it sounds daft but if that's a bit off it could just look awful on the screen when in fact it's fine.
Can you post something you've scanned and not adjusted so I can see?
Also; give the glass a wipe with some screen cleaner. I know when mine gets a bit mucky it throws everything off. There could be dust or something on there from it being sat in a box for a while before you got it.

It just does it's own thing. Some days is good days and some days it's a complete tw*t.
It'll break today because it knows I've blown my budget for this month on new saucepans and towels

I don't have many adjusting options in the software I'm using, but I'll try cleaning it with glasses mop later today/tomorrow.
Am still hoping some of the problem is my lining marker being so thick. : x

THB I rarely use the scanner for my artwork unless it's just lines. I've got a really good daylight lamp on my desk with adjustable light brightness and blue/orange light so I usually just take a photo. I'll only scan stuff if I can't be bothered to go find my phone

ugh, mine will all go at once, guarantee it. Last week the non-stick fell of all my oven trays AND all the saucepans. I think the new washing up liquid might have played a role
