Gold-Sinks are used to take gold from a marketplace. However there is a problem of items never being bought after a while. IM gold powered suggestion
Make a new "meebo" but it charges 1g-5g per sent line or paragraph. People can use this feature to chat with friends instead of going through the hassle of PM and or commenting. As a user you do not have to use this feature but it will be a faster medium of chat. Thus gold being charge if the right amount is a decent price to both parties gold will flow. Simply put buy giving a instant chat option will pull gold rather quickly. Its kind of like counting to five two times in sets of four. It adds up. Gaia was a chat site... But there's too many obstacles in doing so. People are willing to pay gold to insta-chat for convenience. How I see where things are going chatting is moving users away from the site. Without a chat medium people become isolated.

Gold shop for IM gold suggestion
Gaia can sell an assortment of colors for text. The only thing is Gaia can only have one at a time similar to the "Salon Durem". Similar could also be done with fonts. Thus making people use this shop more. Now speaking prices... I find that 50k-1m per-change seems like a reasonable offer. The over gold shop design can be like a phone store selling colored phones. These phones I would recommend is equip-able.
Emoticons and Gaia cash uses:
It should have a free emoticon selection, however to satisfy Gaia-Business side their will be an assortment of Gaia cash emoticons that are soul bound once opened. Each month using the rig-pet of the month create a set that can be purchased for Gaia cash. They are permanently kept once opened.
Options/Settings:
Settings will play a vital role in the future because people can accumulate alot of emoticons. The community will be asking for something questions. Well here is a few suggestions in the options.
-10 quick select emoticon set you can choose
-notification settings
-on/offline settings
-frame designs
-stalk button (follow them places)
-send all button charging 50k-500k ( one use per day~)
A Monthly Item
Its a simple idea in all respects just have an item worth 500k-10m in the cash shop that appears for only that month. The reason for the price range because some items are small do not need to be 10m. the birthstone items could become ideal gold shop items. 10M would be for items that rival monthly collectibles in overall design and poses.
This is a far shot but RIG items and chance items might be a decent gold sink. Here again they must be limited to a month or two. I suggest moving the surplus item to this category of items. the reason being Gaia want to make money. How could they when there is no Gaia cash being spent.
The perma-shop
The perma shop is a shop that sells soul bound cloths that look good. These should be a rather cheap in price thus allowing new users to feel cool. This shop needs to updated rather often i suggest using lower end items from monthly rigs to supply this store. these items can be sold back but that is about it.
This helps gaia by making it a more welcoming place to new players. New players who have a good intro tend to stay. Personally I quit after I originally made my first account. Five thousand gold seemed way over my head. The only reason i came back was because a veteran player who is no longer on much.
