How do people not see what's going on?
continue to sell things at the inflated price?
think that the gold generators are actually not harming the gaian economy?
the thing is, i think griseous's idea is right
if users here or the majority sell at prices that they once were, or at least not as inflated, the economy will self stabilize
because honestly, gaia isn't going to do s**t about this. we are only getting more and more announcements and gg and other s**t. what we have to do is take action ourselves.
For what it's worth, I personally believe it's a combination of grossly overpriced cash shop items AND ridiculous gold generators. The cash shop items really aren't worth more than $10-15, but by jacking the prices up to $50+, it fools people into thinking they're better quality than they are ("it must be better--it costs more!"
wink so those who can afford what are essentially overpriced status symbols purchase them, and then turn around and sell them at outrageous prices in the Marketplace, driving up inflation one way. Add in the bundles of 50+ RIGs, which can be opened and sold individually for even more money than just selling the damn bundle, and you add even more inflation to the mix.
As far as the gold generators, yes, they increase the overall amount of gold in the system, thus devaluing each individual unit of gold, which also drives up inflation because as more money is available, the existing money has less buying power. My personal suspicion is that the gold generators are deliberately released to destroy the gold economy, forcing everyone to switch over to Cash exclusively as a ploy to make more money--which will actually backfire, because all that will do is drive more users from the site, thereby reducing the number of potential customers.

I would also like to add that I'm pretty sure the prices where it's really jacked up, are done so, so they could artificially slash the prices at a later date. It's one of the worse kept secrets of the retail industry that they highly mark up products so they could slash the prices later. That's why I think they mark up so much.
It doesn't help that bundles had been traditionally something that was a bit of a good deal. We got four items and one special extra item. So it use to more or less work out. So Gaia has already trained us in certain ways of thinking.
Though I would like to know what people are thinking when they do spend 70-80 dollars on a bundle or 50 on an item all at once. I mean dude, with the latter I could take myself out to a steakhouse, and the former a steakhouse and a good video game on the side.
