I really do admire your enthusiasm, however when easy money is involved the business man will never give up, and unfortunately Gaia is indeed easy money. Now I'm all for this no Gaia Cash thing, trust me it's annoying me too xD; but I highly doubt that this new CEO will ever fix Gaia, it's way too late to fix it now. The market place is destroyed, the items they are releasing are going to destroy everything for a long time.
In short, Gaia is dying and it's only a matter of time before something happens, and if that's for the better or worse, I don't know.

This website is no where near the term balanced. None whatsoever. However back in the early years sure, I would agree that it was indeed balanced. Now it's just getting out of hand, and it's obvious now that Gaia is just getting plain greedy.

Gaia is important to me, I tried leaving because I am honestly fed up with how things are going but I dunno... I am too emotionally invested in it to leave now. I'd honestly rather lie to myself emotion_8c

I remember back then Month collectible was only 30k, and it was hard to get since we can only get money from mini games (we dont even have zOMG back then). Now gaia turned into money-based game which is very disappointing. Now most stuffs worth 1 million and up. WTF?

I have no more interest in collecting money in gaia AT ALL especially for a non GC user like me it will take forever.

First, yes, Gaia needs money to run. But businesses need to EARN their money. Gaia demands money from us without maintaining the site, which means that they are NOT earning their money.

Second, Gaia does not require cash YET. But from the way they're operating, it's only a matter of time before they charge Gaia Cash for everything.

Third, the devaluation of Gaia Gold through repeated giveaways of literally BILLIONS of gold pieces drives the Marketplace prices up dramatically. The more money pumped into a system, the less purchasing power each unit of money possesses. Basic economics. Stop pumping gold in, and prices will go down and gold will once again regain its old purchasing power. Keep handing out gold for cash, and the prices will go through the ceiling to the point where the whole economy collapses in on itself.

Fourth, given the current management's attitude toward making money instead of providing quality service, it's only a matter of time before everything costs cash. See point 2 above. Yes, most items are cosmetic, but what of the zOMG powerups? It's virtually impossible to complete certain quests solo without using them, and given the fact that the zOMG development team has either been fired, quit, or transferred elsewhere in Gaia Interactive, fewer players are around to team up with. Add in the fact that people are leaving the site in droves, and you have fewer players overall, which means that the few of us who still play now have to pay to complete quests. Granted that completing quests is technically optional, it's impossible to complete the game unless you complete certain key quests, which means that you either have to shell out or hope you get lucky. An omen of things to come? One hopes not!

Fifth, Gaia is indeed a business--and "nice" does not necessarily mean "effective". The personnel may indeed be friendly and helpful, but if you're not getting your money's worth, it doesn't matter. And as I pointed out above, Gaia Interactive is charging more for a service (Gaia Online) that's worth less and less as time passes.Thus, it will drive itself out of business unless it reforms its practices.

1)Yeah gaia needs money to run, but it seems like they're cutting all corners and pushing new items to make up the slack. The original artists and storylines for the site are gone, the manga hasn't had a plot update because of it, and the ZOMG servers will forever be in beta mode. There were levels that were hinted at being opened, but are going to be on permanent hiatus from now on.

The movie previews, items from books releases, commercial stuff, are nonexistant. The events are lacking and maybe, if anyone remembers and we're lucky, we get an item.

2&3). Gaia doesn't require you, but their prices in the gold shop set the prices in the market place because users buy, and sell items. If a person can't buy things with GC, they can go to the market to find it in gold. Since the sellers want to fill in the space of spending $30+ on some pixelly cloak or animal, you can bet there gold equivalent will be high.

4.) i don't know what item mall is? do you mean the Shops/Shop Directory??

5.) gaia is being greedy. Items in the cash shop used to range between 99-999 gc, maybe once upon a time bundles were 999 to 1299, but nothing was ever over the limit of a $25 cash card. Now, there are single items that get as high as $35, and bundles that can get as high as $100. The items themselves range from quality pixel work to so-so.

For the amount they're demanding of items, they aren't putting the funds back into the community. They aren't given new items, and their storytelling is seriously lacking (where did Jet and Cygnus come from, Flynn got demoted to fan service), and projects are thrown into hiatus left and right (ZOMG, Manga updates). Gaia is just giving recolors and recolors of items for ridiculous prices.

The staff is lacking in ways to show they actually care for the users. The projects, events, art and items are subpar from what they used to, and the amount they want are above what they're worth.

I've stopped buying cash for quite some time now. Before, it was because I can't afford to spend money on virtual items. Now, I have money to spend, but I won't, out of protest.
I even turned adblock back on for the whole site. Though, to be honest, at first I turned it back on because I kept getting annoying video ads on the forum. But after seeing cash items costing $25 and above, I was like "******** it, I'm leaving adblock on. They're not getting anything from me."

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they purposely made Switch 'Em impossible to get past level 7, so you have to spend cash to get to the later levels and get the later items.

As a result, any item you get past level 7 of Switch 'Em is sold for an exponentially higher price than the ones you get before level 7 on the marketplace. Why? Because people spent cash to get them, and it's damn near impossible to get them without spending cash.

Y'know, this is one thing I hate about when a website or MMO starts getting involved in having a cash shop. It starts out reasonable enough, but eventually, if they don't control themselves, they get greedy, it goes downhill, and it can affect the rest of the site/MMO.

I don't mind there being a cash shop. I really don't. It helps them keep up the site without having to rely on donations, ads, and/or sponsors. However, I miss the days when everything was reasonably priced and we still got gold shop updates every once in a while. Now, gold shop updates are rare, but we get cash shop updates every ******** day. Really? And I swear to God, I'm not going to spend $25 on a single item. I really wanted my animal avatar to be a fox, but $25 was out of the question.

yeah that's what I figured whenever I played switchems. Highest I got was 9, and without shuffling the tiles, or either having fewer tiles or more moves, it's impossible. So if you wanted the Halloween items, you're out of luck.

I just wanted to buy stuff on the market place like I used to, had my eye on zodiacal for so long-- now it's so far out of reach. :/
