This is silly. Next paycheck I'm plopping down $500, and getting stinky rich. Economy be damned, i worked my a** off to get expensive items and then I lost my account?

I have a well paying job, and a disposable income. $500 is inexpensive to me. I don't wanna waste my time doing things the hard way.

the sigrdrifa item has something sort of like that but its modernised to the point where it just looks like something a mori girl would wear crying

as for armour, yes the stuff is extremely blocky

and the only wooden roundshields we really have dont match gaias current art style

Since I dont live in the US and dont handle dolars, I cant buy gaia cash. I used to get free gaia cash from videos and offers, but it's been 2 years now that they stopped adding videos and offers that are actually available for my country. The last thing I could buy with my free gaia cash was Rosamund's revenge. I thank to those who can gift me nice items because I cant buy anything, nor for myself nor for my friends as I used to. Now everything is based on real money and I feel so discriminated and segregated from the gaia society...and poor. All I can do is see the gold shop and cry because I can only dream of having some of the cute stuff they put there. I wish gaia were as it used to be like 4 years ago...

thats a major problem on this site :<
i think if they opened up more payment options for other countries theyd get more revenue

I grew up around gaia's beginner stages, knowing its background and how the site originally started, I myself being a parent. Sure I came a crossed those dirty people from time to time but as a parent my son enjoys the site too. It teaches him good with the GC system. When he see's a cash shop item he want's I tell him either do good in school this week or do some chore's and earn those items. I get the item and hold it off to the side until he does the chores or does well in school and give it to him as a reward. It's a nice system that works well for him. I've never been picky about the prices even if I am working double shifts. But with members leaving the site and gaias store not getting very much attention it is hard to keep a massive website to stay free. I myself have gotten a pair of grunny slippers from there and I've been asked where I got them. I jaw dropped. LOL

Anyhoo yeah there's various reasons as to why things are ran the way they are. Instead of rage posting a thread about it though I suggest interviewing some of the mods and ask why. :3

i do understand tho, and since i vowed off of gaia cash and then went on a break ive gotten less angry at them (not to mention i started lurking in gcd a lot more after i came back and feel a little more in the loop)

but i still refuse to buy things from here until i know its not going to go under in a couple of years

I have been on this site since 2007. I spent every day for a year clawing my way to get items i wanted. Finally, with he help of a gift card purchased for me from a friend, i was able to purchase Lusty Scoundrel in its August 2008 MC Letter form. Then, my account was hacked and i lost it all. I opened a new account, this one, probably around two years ago, and began working my way up again. Through zOMG, buying and selling on the marketplace, and slowly but surely figuring out how to work around the sites economic limitations for those with under a mil, i was able to raise around a mil for myself. Still, receiving announcements every week for items i couldn't afford, i felt stuck. I ended up purchasing five dollars of gaia cash about six months ago, and have since purchased enough to land me in club verge. STILL i look at announcements, still i see the receipts and my inventory that, combined, tell the story of my wasted efforts in purchasing items. I have 11 mil, and much more in my inventory. STILL, items released are out of my price range,though my account is worth more than most will ever see. It makes me sick the out of control nature of the inflation on this site. There is no way to make money without spending exorbitant amount of my hard-earned, real world money. And the worst part is, they have been slowly increasing the incorporation of the money-grabbing features of this website, becoming a veritable club penguin where users cannot participate in events, without spending real money. Its unfair, and goes against one of the founding principles of this website. Yes, this is a money-making business, but there is no reason they should be making the amount they are off of paid cash and items for this website's upkeep. Its just sick.

Actually when you think about it this is a pretty calm thread. I mean we vent and stuff here but at least this way people aren't sending mean messages and comments towards mods. The idea for this is more a form of peaceful protest or boycott rather. It is lucky that you can buy the items your son likes but not everyone on here has enough wiggle room to shell out cash which is why people are getting kinda fed up with just how much cash items are being released while the NPC plot, games, flash spaces, and mostly everything else are kinda being put on back burner.

We still are viewing ads and no one said it wasn't alright to do sponsor offers. Besides, our little pocket of boycotters can't have that bad an effect on the site based on how many cash item listings I keep seeing in the MP.

As you said money speaks so by boycotting we hope they will maybe take notice and make some minor changes like maybe focusing some work on the site itself?
