— Make hoarding of large quantities of premium items a bannable offense. A serious warning system would have to be in place.

gonk Seriously, how is that fair for users who have been on a long time and simply don't like selling their items.

For a long time I strived to own of each EI (not each generation of all of them, but one of each EI and REI regardless of what gen) and as such I had/have a rather large amount of premium items because I worked hard to get them and didn't want to get rid of them. There are many chance items I own that I earned by waiting months to get and I really enjoy having them even if I can't use them all the time.

Given I don't need them all at the same time (nor is it even possible to use them all at the same time), but re-purchasing items I've already bought seems incredibly illogical (especially considering the nature of inflation and economics as a whole) so I keep them until I feel I will no longer have a potential of using them. Why should I be punished for being patient and enjoying the fruits of my labor? Not everyone perma-hoards items but for the few that do it doesn't seem to impact the system too too much. It is more a quantity issue to begin with not a "people aren't selling them because they're selfish" issue. Had it been a hoarding issue, there would most likely be less than 100 of each of the 2003 MC's that could be actively sold before the re-releases because the rest would be sitting in abandoned/collectors accounts, which just isn't the case. Most are just sold in the Vend and not the MP.

This type of thinking/punishment system would discourage people from buying items in the first place since they would be punished for owning too many premium items if they bought a large quantity at one time even if they intended to sell them. It would be more prudent to simply lower the prices upon the initial release (similar to how Monthly Collectibles work) and have scattered limited releases as specific items become scarce.

None of this Halo bull-s**t where they re-release it over and over again to line their pockets. More like "Here's 50 of them, we're going to raffle off 40 in the market at random throughout the year and hold 10 contests with this as the 1st place prize" every year or two. Still extremely small quantity for the amount of overall active users but allows more quantity to be sold so as to combat overall inflation that would occur naturally.

Gaia is simply forcing everyone to use the marketplace. They don't care that it is unfair and unexceptionable to force you to sell your hard earned things. They only care about making you do what they want. Forcing you to get ride of your stuff makes it look like people are still taking part in this worthless site. AND THEY KNOW with inflation if you want to buy it back you will have to use GC to make up the gold you need to get it back. SEE it all about making you PAY them to be here.

I can understand that Gaia has made things very difficult to say the least (getting eerie flash backs to Soviet Union where the bread was worth more as trade than the currency equivalent so people just burned it to stay warm). I actually haven't bought anything (gold) in about a month, and I haven't sold anything in a few months because I didn't want to feed the beast.

My quote was in regards to the questionable validity in making the mass possession of premium items, that someone has attained and don't intend to sell any time soon, a "bannable offense" would improve upon the current system. It's fine and good to say you don't like the system (frankly I hate the current way they run the market/ site economy, and for that reason I don't actively participate in it), but the list in the OP was in regards to changes that could make the system better/functional. I can't see the system being improved by implementing this as a real rule. The only outcome I can see is the site to come crashing down as a whole because of real finance issues (not this bull s**t they are currently spouting about).

Regardless of how I feel about current business practices here, Gaia is a business and as such needs money. If there is a policy in place to discourage spending, such as punishing those who would purchase large amounts of [premium] items, then it's a bad policy for business. What was suggested isn't a feasible compromise in this situation, it only comes from a place of (understandable) frustration caused by the current guidelines as to how premium items are distributed through the community. It's why I suggest instead of initially putting a high price tag on items, immediately making them premium, sell the for relatively low cash ($2.50-$25), so many people can get them, and then after a year or two, introduce a small amount into the system on an annual/biannual basis. I would highly suggest through raffles and contests so as to avoid the rich getting richer set up we have now. That way there are plenty of them without flooding nor losing too much value because of such a low quantity. It appeases the frustrated and allows Gaia to still make the money they need.

Has anyone suggested that the chances of getting every item be more balanced??

Like, not 1 in 100 to get one of the small animal things.

Because when I try the chance items (I don't use GC) I always end up with negative profit.

Super frustrating

When time flies by, and greed consumes all,
None will stand, and all will fall,
The corruption exceeds, rising to kill,
Inflation soaring, higher than hills,
Items now trash, once so rich,
Black Friday came, and now it's a b***h,
Rares for ten years, not anymore,
Now when we wear them, we all look poor,
The Halo of Angels, crashed by a bil,
Dropping everyone down, down to nil,
Many have quit, some have stayed,
As for Gaia, it's all about getting paid,
The economy is ruined, it's all done and through,
We were playing the game, and we all got fooled,
If I could change one thing, it would be easy,
Get rid of cash, it stinks like feces,
What happened to events, ones for the players?
Now it's like a rave, one without ravers.
This site has changed, way to much,
Screw you cash, Gaia now sucks.

I think quite a few users may have sworn off GC due to the recent RIG's....Gaia really screwed a lot of people over with that little stunt..

Bloblike Loiterer

I never do RIGS just buy the one cheap item I really like from the MP. This last one sealed it that I'll never buy one cause that was absolutely a mess. How do you drop a very pertinent piece of info like dat AFTER the RIGs been opened? What a crock.

Also, is the divinity thingies in the cash shop flynn's junk by another name?
