Since about Sept/Oct I have REFUSED to come onto here ever again, let alone spend any farking money on this website.

Why? Because when I log in first hand and go to the MP it's automatically some popup telling me about some cash shop items. Then, I go to see announcements and oh boy TEN out of ELEVEN of them are CS updates... and the eleventh one is like... the GS. Not even a BIG update, just a few new extra items.

When I started here in '05 I thought 10k gold was a REAL achievement, something to look forward to to buy a single MC if it was cheap enough. I remember even buying my first MC with gold, elegant veil, at a measly 21k.

Now? Items are TEN TIMES the amount they were worth. Cash Shop items are being thrown into my face every time I log on here. Flynn's Booty is RAMPANT, being promoted every five fraking seconds it seems. but now you can win ITEMS FROM 2003 and later other years making the items POINTLESS and now not even considered a rare gem and more of like a cheap imitation gem that you got from Walmart [bad analogy lol]

I feel Gaia has stopped caring about what people say and more about what people do with talking with their wallets. It's really sad to see this happening to a site I used to be so obsessed over I came on daily. I used to sneak on when I was told not to, and now... I don't even care anymore. I literally stopped caring about this site and their cash grabbing methods.

Until Gaia starts acting like a REAL company, you can count on me not even spending a PENNY on here let alone coming on here to be bombed by your cash shop ads and "BUY THIS NOW" mentality.

It's a business above all else. They HAVE to make money somewhere or else start charging MANDATORY subscription fees.

If you buy something and your account gets banned... there's a good chance you deserved it.... or maybe not!

But they DO cover themselves with a disclaimer: ALL SALES FINAL.

JS

Yes, Gaia needs to make money to keep the website running. But Gaia has popups, is shoving gaia cash in our faces, and is destroying the market with flynnflation. No business should ever get to the point where they make the user experience unsatisfactory just to get by financially. That's the point where everything simply becomes counterproductive (via losing members or potential customers). If it's working for them, that's fine, but we can still voice our opinion by withdrawing our wallets and not supporting Gaia's latest decisions.

As far as banning and gaia cash goes, you're just about right. They don't have the responsibility to refund you if you are banned. However, lately, it seems Gaia may be a bit trigger happy with its banning. I can't name any examples off top, but I've been seeing complaints on the subject of unfair banning.

I do agree with you, those popups are becoming a bit much

I repeat myself 'Gaia should slap the person who said pop-up's yay' and slap them HARD!

It's literally to the point where the only way a non cash buyer will ever achieve an item that used to be quest-able, is now either cave in and pay cash or beg other users that have spent cash on Flynn's booty.

Gaia's literally given the finger to the people that don't spend cash on this site.

I'm not saying I'm crazy in love with the cash sales lately, but I HIGHLY doubt that was an actual parent writing a review like that.

- Full of typos.
- Calling avatars "aviators" instead, wut?
- 89% of the forums are dirty and the site is full of smut, wut?
- I've heard people claiming to be "concerned parents" before and they seemed to lack basic logic on how the site works and exhibited stubborn refusal to even concede that there might be differing opinions/reasons as to why things are the way they are.

Just saying that... I believe that review wasn't written by an actual parent who is a member of Gaia. More like a member of Gaia who's pretty angry at the state of things right now and wants to come off looking like a concerned parent.

I did just updated, as the person did go back and fix all those problems. But just because a person spelling is not 'hot' and there grammar is poor doesn't mean they are a kid. Like myself this person could be dyslexic. S/he could be from a different country with trouble with English. You can not know basic on spelling/grammar.

Also added note here that key on the bottom is Gaia rating as a whole. Not just the one single post I took. I took that one as it was the only one I could see

Maybe. That's possible. But to accept that it's possible that:
- The person is indeed a parent
- The person is a parent with a Gaia account
- The person is a parent with a Gaia account for a long time
- The person is a parent with a Gaia account for a long time and somehow only seems to find dress up items that are sexy (somehow missing a LOT of the recent items which aren't all that revealing, to be honest)
- The person is a parent with a Gaia account for a long time and somehow only seems to find dress up items that are sexy and seems to frequent forums that are, by their own words, 89% smutty
- The person is all of the above AND goes to Towns and sees its full of "rampant" cyber sex

Somehow, looking at all of that objectively doesn't click to me that this is an actual parent with actual concerns. Especially with the labels that Gaia has... what are those icons, violence? Alcoholic content? Seriously?

If you're willing to believe that ALL of this is true without proof, you should also be willing to believe that with the same amount of evidence (see: none) that the person has an equal chance of being simply a fed-up user pretending to be a concerned parent.

I am not saying this person isn't a fed up member. I am however seeing other posts now and there just as unpleased. Her % maybe off of the smut level and maybe she finds things too sexy we do not. Who knows, the fact is the KEY the more important part of my post shows Gaia is not winning parents over

And I'm trying to say that there's the probability that this isn't even a parent, just someone pretending to be a parent. I've also seen claims made by people saying they're deliberately trying to sabotage Gaia by giving bad reviews and telling other people to stay away from the site. So... take that as you will.

I'm not saying that there aren't things to be upset about. There are. The inflation is crazy and out of control. I'm worried it might scare off new users, make older users returning from hiatus hesitant about staying, or drive current users off to other sites where they might find things more affordable. I don't disagree that inflation is out of hand and that Cash Shop item pricing is all over the place at best and laughably overpriced at worst. I don't disagree with any of that.

All I'm saying is that reviews like the one you provided can't be verified as truthful and unbiased reviews. That review was obviously made in anger (the person uses exaggerated numbers and points to extreme ends of the Cash Shop spectrum, marks a checkbox for what appears to be violence, alcohol use, swearing and other icons) and therefore can't be trusted as objective. At least. I just can't be convinced that was a review written by who they proclaim to be: A long time member of the site who is a parent now concerned about how the site might influence their child.

I am not disagreeing with you either, that person could of just as easy been a kid or pissed of person with a vendetta. I am however saying you just can't know for sure based on spelling/Grammar. People suck at times an try to take advantage of others with lies, online is just a harder sell for honesty for any post can be torn apart like you've done to that one. Cause you can only know what small snap you see and make a best call. I agree if the post had proof it be better. But very rarely do you see someone post with proof.

I only picked that one as I said it was the only one I saw, I am however seeing more with much better 'feelings' toward the site. The over all 'key votes' are that the site is sex, violence (which I've never seen myself), language, consumerism, and drinking, drugs & smoking. None of them say it a positive place or the privacy & safety are good....I've never had a problem with that last one either.

I was trying and I guess failed, to show that parents do not have a lot of good things to say about the site.

(saw my own spelling wtf and fix in bold lol)

No worries.

I think it might be safe to say that we're both looking forward to the day that Site Feedback is filled with item/feature requests rather than complaint threads again.

indeed

I had an idea on how to 'fix' the marketplace...bare with me, I have 0% understanding of website building. So this may all be flat out impossible to do. For teach reasons I do not know or could ever understand. The idea is an inflation tax, hold on let me explain!

Say you went to the shop and got something for 5 gold. Maybe a hat, you later put that hat on the marketplace. If you only inflate the price a little like say you ask for 10 gold their is no tax. But if you inflate the price to outrages like say 100,000 gold the inflation tax would kick in and be idk 30%. Gaia gets a tax, you don't get 30% of what your asking for either. Maybe (maybe not) people would not wish to pay this tax and lower the prices to keep from paying?

Ok now you can point out all the flaws....like how to tell what some you paid real money for is worth in gold. Maybe a Gaia guild to the change over? like 1 dollar real money is 100 gold? or something simple. Again go on tell me why this would never work

Naughty Pants

I sign.

After years of being ok with purchasing a bit of Gaia cash here and there (I'm an adult with a nice job, I have an entertainment budget and would spend some of that budget on Gaia) This past week is the straw that broke this camel's back. I am no longer OK with spending any money on this site, period. I am sick of the flash sales, the poorly managed shops, Flynn, pop up ads and the whole nine yards.

I just hope more people like me feel the same way and actually pull their cash support away from Gaia and Gaia gets the hint.

I went to give my site feedback from the link on front page

( Send Gaia your direct feedback. Thanks Flux for finding the thread where this can be found. ) The next page told me I wasn't allowed to use the page and was there by mistake. So either your link needs an update OR Gaia doesn't want our feedback
