little guy? pffft, such a harsh way to category some people. oh well. that seems to happen alot on social medias. they just need to learn how to use the site the ways they offer.

> w > I'm sorry, I'm not going to read all that, I did say good luck dinnet I? I'm not rich, to be perfectly honest, I never use my gold for myself anymore. I just play the games for fun with my friends here , it's sad you think that just liking flash games and saving gold for getting gifts for friends means I have no life. very shallow to say that.

mommy and daddy? jez. seriously adluts use gaia cash too. Dont just catergorize the majority of gc users as such, its rude. I dont even know kids on this site...BUYING stuff, I've only seen 17-35 year olds. money is money though.

Also, Im not going to respond to you after this because your agrement was lacking, at least the other fellows had their point of view across. yours was sad.
MY arguement was lacking? That's rich. xD
Thank you for coming into this thread and expecting everyone else to care about what you say and then flat out admitting you won't read a response.
(Though it's quite obvious you did since you commented on almost all my points.)

Gaia's only harming it's self here. They might as well sell flynns kidneys if they want money that badly
False. Gaia is making its best profits yet, so they aren't hurting themselves at all, unfortunately. =/

Short term gains at the expense of long term stability is never good except for opportunists.

My thoughts are summed up nicely in my sig if anyone wants a look.
Are they really risking long-term stability, though?
People are still buying, and more people who will buy join every day.

People who care like we do will just be phased out.

I'm sorry. I do feel I should correct people when they're wrong, though.

Have a good one.

That is the problem though. The best form of advertising, as anyone in advertising will tell you, is word of mouth. Nothing else comes close. Right now the community is getting frustrated and many are leaving. The amount of new people coming in do not equal people who have invested years into the site. As such they are less likely to spend money right away then someone who has been here a while who wants to invest. Furthermore, there is a negative backlash effect in advertising where public opinion or even simply over-advertising leads to a negative view of the company and a decision to never buy their product because they are so pushy. All of this swirls together to lead to very poor long term strategy. You have your target audience leaving and no longer investing, you have your new audience slowly shrinking because of bad word of mouth advertising, and those that do come are barraged by adds right off the bat, leading to possible negative reactions. Beyond even all that, you have a marketplace here that is unstable, so things that were sound investments before (the monthly items) are now less stable for money and more likely to be passed up, and think about what Flinn's Booties have done to player confidence in the market of the site itself? It is less worth it to buy a bundle now then it was because of all the inflation.

Even a novice in economics and advertising like me can see the long term consequences as nothing but trouble. Though, that isn't too surprising considering who is in charge and their previous habits with such a company.

Finally, I will ask a question. Look at how the company has been acting the last few months. How they have jacked up prices and spammed flinn booties so often, in spite of the problems they cause. Look at the various flash "sales" every day now. Does that not seem like the actions of someone desperate for cash? Does that not resemble the actions of a sleazy used car salesman at a dealership that is going under? Does that not seem just a little desperate when compared to months prior? I do not think they are making as much money as they once have else they would not act so rashly, but that is my view I guess.
H I D E --- & --- S E E K-----------------------

I'm beyond frustrated with GaiaOnline. I spent some money on GC to buy letters this month, and ended up, as I came to this particular thread, with two different 'Cash Shop Offers', including Flynn's bundle. I'm done spending my real money on Gaia. I'll support Gaia with other methods, but not with purchasing GC. I'm tired of them thinking that it's alright to continually slap us in the face with cash offers, or thinking that constantly releasing items that are $30+ is a 'good idea' or a 'positive move' for Gaia. Combine that with the GC-sink that is this farce of a seasonal event, and no thank you.

I'd rather have no event from Gaia beyond Trick or Treating, than this bs they're shoving down our throats.

Honestly, I suppose I'm going to weigh in on this, because it's getting ridiculous.
I stayed silent for all this time, as others had already said what I've been thinking on this subject quite eloquently.
I can't recall the last time I bought GC. Like, at all. It was a few months ago. I decidedly stopped, because they haven't really put out anything I've been gunning to buy as of late. I decided, however, to stop on principle when Flynn was released. The entire idea made me feel... uncomfortable. And for them to be rereleasing it so relentlessly is truly shameful. It makes me sad. I thought they'd see and realize what they're doing is costing them users left and right, but it seems that they don't really give a damn about that anymore.
You know what I decidedly got today, rather than giving Gaia my hard-earned money?
A book on Harley Quinn.
An Enderman plushie.
A Joker belt.
A myriad of gifts for my girlfriend for our four-month, 'cause I'm sentimental like that.
Literally, I see myself less and less on here, and more and more on their competition's sites. They need to correct themselves before they wreck themselves, no lie. Especially with Flynn, as well as the Halloween event 'God mode'. That sucked the fun right out of this event for me. sad

Is this a petition? I'm seeing people saying they'd like to sign... If so, then add my name please.
I don't think I have anything to say on the topic, everyone else that you've quoted has taken the words right out of my mouth.
I've always thought GC was a horrible idea. Never thought it'd get quite this bad.
I'm disappointed in you, Gaia.

Shy Fatcat

omfg, they just KEEP bringing flynn's booty back it's so dumb. glad i've never even spent one penny on gaia cash ever before.

As a college student who has been unsuccessful in finding a job, I don't have the money to spend on GC, even if I wanted to.

Here are some of the ideas on the first page that I like:

Quote:
— If there really are money quotas Gaia needs to meet, we'd like to be aware of this. It would encourage people to help and feel less used.
— More information about the kinds of games and offers being worked on to make sure they're actually things we want.
— An increase in the low to mid-priced GC items (under 2,500 GC) instead of so many expensive ones.
— More decent items available in stores in a high gold range, something like 100k to 1 mil.
— A better balance between gold shop updates and cash shop updates.
— Spend a month or so simply releasing Gold Shop items (other than MCs and evolutions of EIs).
— Bring user voting back to user-created items so Gaians get things they want put into shops.
— Put better, Cash Shop item-quality hairs and eyes in the salon as a gold sink.
— Bring community back to the site. An idea would be having the front page focus on NPCs and storylines rather than sales.
— Reevaluate the importance of customer loyalty and instill non-GC related rewards for it.
— Bring back the Gaia merchandise shop so users can spend their money on real items too, not just virtual ones.
— If GC is going to continue to be such a large part of what Gaia is, look into making the cash cards available in more places.
— Work with more mini-game producers that will pay Gaia to host their games. It will give us more options and help fund the site.
— Add more alchemy recipes to help people level up. Have these recipes require gold shop items only as a mini gold sink.
— Raise Gaian "wages" by upping gold rewards for posting, commenting, playing games, etc. to give gold-only users the advantage they need in the inflated economy.

Oh I can't believe that I forgot to post this but my FIRST REASON for not buying GC?
Back during the $5 25booty deal I spent the $5 (thereby fulfilling the $2.50 a month for no ads deal) and a day later I was bombarded with the pop up ads. When I contacted a mod about it I was told they were 'different' ads and didn't count in the deal. And I could do nothing about it.

I'm sorry but what part of 'see no ads' does pop up ads manage to wiggle it's way past?

In retrospect I should have contacted paypal to try and get all my money back that was spent here, but I suppose I wasn't thinking.

I won't spend another cent until I feel properly compensated.

And that'll be a cold day in hell before gaia ever bends it knee again to please a user, or any user for that matter.

They found an item that sells really well. They're going to keep releasing it.
In their most recent announcement, staff admitted Gaia was basically in the black last quarter, but now they're doing better than ever.
I'm still convinced all this money-grabbing is for the launch of their sister site. Why foot the bill yourself when you have users who can?

And as for your new users won't buy, they most definitely will. It's the only way to get items these days, and if they're joining the site, they're going to want to take part in its biggest feature: avatar dress up.

Let's just agree to disagree, though. I don't want to go back and forth on this and pull the thread off topic.
