OCCUPY GAIA :: SAY NO TO BUYING GC

I have been here a very long time, when I was a teen I would donate EVERY month to the site to help keep it afloat. The donation items where a very nice "Thank you" at the time, it felt like someone giving you a hug instead of a bribe.

This site has changed into something I don't even recognize anymore, money this and money that. If you don't spend the money you are left behind to never get anywhere when it comes to avatar items.
I log in everyday and every single day there is a new item up for sale, and now they bring back old THANK YOU items.

How dare they, those where thank you donate items. They where a gift to those who when the site was still very young came out and gave them money to keep on going. Now they SELL these lovely THANK YOU items, they taint their very meaning by doing this.
I don't care if items almost exactly where made and sold, but to sell old donation items its just not right.

What has happened to you Gaia, oh thats right you became a "business" and since your now in the business of making money you need to give the "people" want they want and that is old donation items.

Man.... I really miss old gaia.... Gaia just doesn't feel friendly to me anymore. I only come on here now if I want to draw something and don't know what so I head to the request threads.

Gaia's economy has really been suffering for a long time. I quite spending real money years ago because I had a feeling things were just going to get worse.

When I started doing avi art way back when, I would sell one for 25g. G. Seriously. Getting 30g was awesome back then. Good art would go for 5k or 10k. Now 10k is absolutely nothing.

At a point gettin 1mil for art was outrageous, then it was really good, then it became... nothing to great artists.

I left gaia for a bit because I became way too busy with school and the community didn't feel like a community anymore. I returned to this website a week ago... and am really disappointed in everything I've been hearing/reading.

I'm one of those people who really doesn't have even five dollars to spare. So getting cool items is something I only get if people decide to donate them to me. (By donate I mean gift in exchange for art). But it's frustrating that I can't afford any of those nifty items out there.

When I was younger, I would save up every month to try and get a donation item. I would be so excited to put my money in an envelope and mail it to gaia. I used to doodle little pictures and write notes and put them in there with the cash to let them know how much I loved their site and how much it meant to me.

Because of gaia a lot of important things happened in my life. And it's really saddening to... have it be this way now. Gaia is it's own company and of course the company should be able to do what it wants with it. They've done some cool things for sure. But.... I miss the old events that felt like a community coming together and going crazy. How people would spend hours just trying to get the special event items. That was really fun! And now... I'm always confused with the events, like where do I go? What is the event and what is a money taking pit? Are they the same thing?

I was actually really shocked to see that smashbox game. I was like 'oh neat! You can compete to win gold!' Then I noticed you have to pay gaia cash for it and I was said. Then I noticed it's per day.... and some of those prizes are a lot of gold... something seemed really weird about that to me.... And now I hear everyone complain about it... And other things.

When I went to the cash shop I thought there was something weird about the prices... but apparently I'm not wrong with what I saw and some of those things are worth tens of dollars. That's a lot! That's crazy!

I'm just.... actually shocked at the level of care they seem to not have.... What do I know, I don't know much. Most of what I know is hearsay. But I sincerly wish they'd fix this. I wished that awhile ago and they've just made things worse.

It's too bad. I really like how their forums flow...

I gotta admit that the posts above me from "Nivea" and "Pcots" really touched me.

It just confirms my thoughts on how this MMOG made part of many lives. Heck, I bet even some RL friendships and why not, love relationships were 'born' here.

And seeing that the current leadership could care less about it, literally selling the 'soul' of this place to the highest bidder...it just...it just saddens me. sad

I've never bought GC but I've earned a little in those annoying video things.

If Gaia wants/needs more money income on the site why dont they send out a virtual wanted add for people that have/make mini games and they would pay the site to host their games.
I think that everyone would enjoy some new games, because lets face it, the old ones are getting boring.

I sign. I know my avatar cost a lot to make, but at this rate even having what used to be a reasonable amount of gold is next to nothing because of the amount of inflation. Like the items I originally needed in the 1 to 2 million range have gone up to the 10s of millions which is utterly ridiculous. At this rate I am not going to be able to create any new outfits for a LOOOOONGG time. I really regret ever spending any money on GC, but I guess had to learn a lesson one way or another. crying

I joined gaia in '07. Back then, there was no such thing as Gcash, there was no cash shop and the only thing people ever paid any real money for was the MC's. CI's didn't exist, EI's didn't exist, and Towns was my favorite hangout in the entire world. It's been make or break here on Gaia for me. I've made friends, met people I'd rather spend the rest of my life with and I've fought wars against intergalactic tyranny and started my own mining operations (RP) on this site. I've created characters that will forever be my muse for stories to tell to the public one day.

Gaia has been a long time inspiration for much of what my creative mind is today.

But this. This constant ignorance and lack of care for the general gaian public sickens me. Lanzer used to make regular announcements back when I joined, he genuinely cared about the people he had invited to join in this 'revolutionary' community. The forefather of Gaians cared until he left.

I don't care how much money Gaia needs, I'm no longer spending a cent on these people so long as they continue to ******** up the marketplace and continue to show lack of interest for the gaians that do not pay.

We're here too. We're people, and WE ALONE can change your marketing demographic Gaia. A cause like this will spread and infect others ears. The people can make or break your company. We can let you stay rich, or we can let you go bankrupt. We're fed up. I'm fed up, and I'm signing.

Corporate greed has left us high and dry once again, get used to it. It gets worse every year. Gaia only cares for the young and stupid kids with daddy's money, They know theres lots of em because they know parents will do anything to not have to spend time with there kids so they just keep pumping money in to the kids so they stop whining about how bored they are and how terrible there lives are. So were all screwed, Gaia only cares about Gaia, were just s**t on a shoe to be wiped off and left behind.

Been her since 03, hehehe i have no life...
Anyhow i´m kinda tired of the new cash items. You don´t have the time to enjoy the things you buy. I know that gaia needs real money to have this site up, but i wonder if the internet servers they have is made of gold. sweatdrop
