Gold Grant adjustments
As part of our ongoing efforts to adjust gold granting, we have made some changes:

• the gold grants for posting have been increased substantially
  
• the gold grants for OMGPOP have been increased some
  
• a curve was added at the upper end of zOMG earnings. This should only affect about 1% of the players.

Over the next few weeks we'll be adjusting and tweaking grants all over the site.

i'm not a fan of the increases with a lack of sinks. We need more of them if we're going to do this.
i now know that the last part (zomg) is actually a decrease of output *thank you, guys! : D*
i understand now that this could be incentive for having people post more, but i'm also understandably wary of this increase due to past problems.

Pardon my saying so, Pan, as i am only quoting you while making a post directed at all of the Gaia staff, but this dev notice, especially the bold part, smacks of sucking up to those who were unjustifiably angry about Booty Grab being historically nerfed and now captcha'd.

And before anyone replying even SAYS something that will get their own foot in their mouth, let me make a distinction between the justifiably angry and the unjustifiably so:

1) Justified: Those who have glitch issues or have vision problems involving Captcha. (And for the love of everything, please don't make a post saying the blind shouldn't be playing internet games in the first place!)
2) Unjustified: Those who just don't WANT to do captcha for any reason.


Sorry, Gaia, but given the gold influx problems we have, botted and manual, and the severe LACK of gold sinks outside of the MP tax, certain sellbacks, and the gold shops, this doesn't seem like the right thing to do. I'm poor, gold-wise, and pretty damn active, playing the games, but something like this - well, i'm not seeing it end well.

Why does posting need to have a higher gold grant? I think it did fine the way it was. ⌐_⌐

OMGPOP I might understand, 'cause they *are* games, and my experience with them has only been about a ~50g grant.

And I'm not quite sure what Pan means about "a curve" when it comes to zOMG. sweatdrop

But yeah. Do things really need to have a higher gold grant? Because in the long run that really won't do anything. ¬_¬ Just raise prices.

I think it's an incentive for people to post more in the forums instead of locking themselves in the game servers(zOMG, BG, etc.) It's more about bringing people back into the community...ideally. We do know how that sort of thing ends up as, don't we?

I'm not seeing why gold grants for posting would be either positive or negative with the BG crowd? (Trust me, I'm pretty much the Five Horseman of Cthulhu over in the GA forum right now, so adjusting gold grants for forum posts wouldn't get me anywhere anyway; it would take something on the order of self-immolation.)

It seemed fair to reward people that participate in forums more; we hadn't revisited the curve in a while. With the BG botting changes + zOMG curve that we just put into place, we are still way ahead of the game in terms of total gold generation.

Actually, Wolfram, this has been coming for a while. I was a dev meet a couple weeks ago where the idea of adjusting the gold grants in zOMG! was brought up. And it's come to pass exactly as it was told to us. They're adjusting it so that that particular one percent can't abuse it as much as they apparently have been.

And as for the posting grant; well, not everyone can or wants to play the games. I know I can go for days without feeling the desire to play any of them.

I have a feeling the posting boost is really going to help. I think it's all going to balance out in the end. :3

Besides, I'd rather post now with heightened gold grants than play another freakin' round of Booty Grab, especially with the Captchas now.

okay, the zomg part wasn't what i was on about, but - adjusted by increasing or decreasing? That was a tad vague.

To decrease. It doesn't really help the abuse if they increase what that one percent gets, does it? And supposedly they would slightly increase the gold drop at the lower levels of the game. There's evidently someone who's learned/figured out how to abuse bosses like Papa Saw and EB in such a way that they earn amounts of gold that the very vast majority of other players aren't.

I hope they balance it out with some sort of gold sink. Like, more Rufus selling things. Maybe an exclusive item that people must bid on?
