How to White-List Ads on Gaia

Hi siskataya, I do not have the ad blocker on. However, after last night I will be blocking the ads because, I saw a few ads on the side coner section that had ads for cartoon porn on it. I was wondering, does gaia screen ads before you allow your sponsor to advertise!?

AdBlock Plus now comes with a standard whitelist that includes ad servers that typically serve advertisements that people find acceptably non-intrusive. Maybe Gaia can think about trying to get ads from some of these servers, since an AdBlock survey shows most ABP users are content to leave the default whitelist on.

Hi Sisky,

Just wanted to share a bit of feedback with you and the rest of the Gaia Team.

For myself, I'm on a (much) older device when I browse Gaia and because it still uses legacy-age components and OS (XP SP3), the ads combined with the other Flash and heavily scripted elements on the site (and other sites) can REALLY noticeably affect my browsing.

For this reason, I have had to resort to turning off ads (and finally, turning off Aquariums in signatures) when I browse Gaia and the rest of the net.

I understand that Gaia earns ad revenue from Gaians viewing and clicking on ads, but I also understand that Gaia earns money from its paying users who either use Auto Cash or who buy Cash on a regular basis.

That said, I turn off all ads on Gaia (and everywhere else, pretty much) because my machine can't handle the extra resources they take up...

But I am also a paying user and part of the reason I became a regular paying user over time was partly to compensate for the fact that I keep my ads turned off.

EDIT: I also wanted to add that though I block ads, I do also participate in some of the Earn Cash offers and watch the Daily Treat videos and such when they are available in addition to buying Cash.

Oh, yeah I should gives ads view to a website that if about community and fun... which is not Gaia Online.

Sorry but all the items you released in 2012 where cash shop items so no... almost no freebies and what to say about gold shops updates... they where so few and not the same feel as what was costing lots of real money. You are now just a bunch of money hungry people.

You need ads view and our money because you don't know how to use the money we had given you and that some are still giving you!

I don't do adblocks or any of that sort, and I don't seem to have any problems with it. The ads I usually see are ones from like Love Culture, Forever 21, or other websites I often visit. So I don't see any inappropriate ads on Gaia. I do hide the Meebo bar on the bottom of the screen though, it gets in the way sometimes. Other than that, the ads do not lag or get in the way of my business. But that might be just me...and Chrome...

Anyways, not really on the topic of ads, I do wish Gaia would not focus on the GC items so much. It makes it hard to get new items when you're not a person who uses cash online/ for games. Also, some of the GC purchase money can be categorized as surplus (since there are so many ads), so make some good gold items please!

I haven't blocked ads up until this point because I like to support Youtubers. I didn't know about this whitelist feature though until you just mentioned it though so now I might consider ad block.
I don't mind most of the ads on gaia because I know you have to support yourself but the loud self-playing ones and the ones that pop up from the gaia bar are annoying as all hell. Please just get less annoying ads.

I didn't mind the ads, til One day some ads were blocking the display box of my avatar when I was changing its looks. There was no way to uncover the box without ad blocking. That was a case of ads hindering a feature for gaia. Now you want me to pay g-cash to unlock it? Give it to me and I will. I am not spending my real life money to a feature that is hindering me.

I block ads because they drastically slow down my internet. Especially on Gaia. It takes me more than twice as long to open a (landing) page than it does with an adblocker on.
It would be great if Gaia would select ads that aren't so 'flashy' and don't take ages to load.

I subscribed to get rid of the ads, so I'm not gonna turn them back on. Though I'm paying to not get ads, I still get some now and then, and it annoys me enough to log out until they go away. Gaia is a place where I spend my time when I have it, and I don't want to bother with ads about animal cruelty and the like while I'm here, which is what I mainly get.

Most of the ads i was getting on here were porn, i dont mind other ads, i just ad block on here because of the disgusting pictures and the pop-up-anything lotto site.

i have had that already happen a couple of times and what i want to know is what place does porn have on gaia?

so pornography is ok to have on gaia? really ? they are that desperate for money? i'm sorry but you know gaia could get into trouble for showing naked people and people in undergarments and other items similar to that, which is considered porn where i live
FYI i live in the state of utah so yeah alot more strict things here
us children are not to be exposed to things like that and if enough people would take screen shots of this and file it with the authorities i guarantee this site would be shut down
bottom line gaia needs to do away with ads and figure another way to earn money for its website

ok it dont happen all the time but since i registered it has happened 3x so yeah i think that is a real problem
