Very impressed by this build! Thank you SO much for making it happen.

This is silly, but would you ever consider a jump button? In a 3D environment like this, it just feels like a natural thing to have, but it's not super necessary.

will we be able to race again? emotion_kirakira

Soon I plan to look into adding the features required to make spawning our cars possible. I don't yet know about racing.

Jumping is hotly requested. I don't yet know if I will implement it because I want to support 2D and mobile well and jumping may not feel as great on mobile and 2D.

_Gotherine_The_ Foxx_
if we got this for towns it would be a game changer

That is an awesome idea, it's something I would love to work on in the future but for now this is just a Rally 3D project.

i second this !! I remember the last rally beta had one

Would you ever consider adding a build feature like the last rally beta ??

Or find a way to implement houses ??

Last night's April Fool's shenanigans on the new client were a lot of fun, and a lot of issues I had from previous projects were addressed. Please! Keep this project going. I want to see what more can be done.

Will we be playing with more builds of this in the future? 4laugh

Kind Giver

I just returned to Gaia not that long ago and I'm kind of glad that I did.
I really enjoyed exploring the April Fools Rally space and seeing if I could actually escape the Backrooms. (I couldn't).

There is one thing I wish I knew and that would be a list of commands to make things more enjoyable for newer / returning players.

Someone mentioned that pressing Ctrl + Backspace opened up a debug type menu, this came in very handy as I was able to make the room brighter on my screen as it was pretty dark.

Would you ever consider controller support? (If it's even possible to implement on Gaia) Because some users may find using a controller a lot easier than mouse & keyboard or mobile devices.

Houses and building are outside the scope of Rally3D imo. Though I hope one day to be able to work on a similar Towns project with this client and so then it would make sense to support those features.

Yes, I heard there was a plane. I'm not associated with the previous project but it does use a similar 3D map. However, without the plane. I think it's unlikely the plane will be returning. Sorry =(

I average about a new build a day this month! So yes!

Glad to hear the map contained you well. Ahh yes, some peeps have requested a /help command to show basic commands. I will do that soon! Ctrl + Backspace isn't really intended to be there, it just kind of is due to it being a Unity3D debug build. But glad it came in handy! Hmmmm, well I don't know what would happen if someone used a controller. It might kinda work right now. First up though is mobile UI and controls. Maybe controllers eventually! Mobile is very important to support and it's on the TODO list soon.

so fun! i loved this april fools surprise. i wish clicking the open link opened it in a new tab tho. This made me remember when towns was incredibly active in the 2000s to the early 2010s

Hello friends! Glader here, AKA HelloKittyGithub.

I’ve been developing a reusable social web-compatible game client very recently with the goal for it to be used to recreate existing worlds in both 2D and 3D. It is in the early stages but since the April 1st 2024 event went well I’ve decided to publish a demo for all of you to check out and welcome any feedback you have on it. If you want to hop right into the demo check out the link and instructions on the second post.

Rally 3D Client Sneak Peek:

User Image

I’ve read through the 50+ pages of feedback on previous 3D projects and it informed the development in the following way:

- 2D and 3D: I felt it important to support "Classic 2D" as a concept for the client, for nostalgia, smoother play and for those who just prefer 2D. For now there is a 2.5D toggle.

- World Chat: A global chat where all Gaians across all game apps that use this tech/client can chat.

- Mobile: Supporting mobile longterm is important for the client and to me.

So please check out the demo and provide more feedback to help steer this new project’s direction.

I have a lot to say.

1) As usual, performance issues when entering rally 2.5D for mobile. Not recommended for devices lower than 4gb of ram, Snapdragon 660. 5 mins of hanging around, the phone becomes warmer.

Though, my tab (Redmi pad SE 8GB ver.) can run rally 2.5D smoothly.
At least 6gb of ram recommended.

2) Manuvering as mobile / tab user

Moving the camera is easy with gestures, but moving the character is kind of mixed between zooming in/out, moving forward / backwards, and turning around. It's hell when the character stuck at places that the only way to exit is to reverse, but turning left / right / backwards after adjusting the camera resets the camera view to last view, which frustrating me when need to reverse. Took 3 mins just to reverse my character was not a good experience for me because using zoom in - zoom out gestures while having limited space to turn around makes the manuvering the character unenjoyable.

Wishing we have something like on screen D-Pad or something to move the character around without resorting to zooming in or out gestures (2 finger gesture)...

Alien Sweetheart

I had a lot of fun and it was neat to be able to look and zoom on things. At least I was able to with my mouse toggle thing...I have no idea what it's called..... eek sweatdrop Though I did to have to had someone tell me that I could drag and change the view with my mouse last night and don't I feel foolish for not knowing that lol

I don't really know what I could add or suggest that hasn't already been said, maybe a simple menu on How To which I think was said already and maybe a Jump just because, which I know was also said lol I don't mind jumping in 2D because it would be hilarious actually but that's just me.

OH I will say and this may have just been me because my computer is weird but if a large group of people were near each other I could NOT AT ALL move through them and had to go around. Much like real life I can not just phase through other avatars. Which may be normal for these spaces? But it made me not able to go to certain parts or alleyways or corners and such because people were blocking it. I was just thinking if there are things to interact with and people block them off that would be SUPER annoying (and there are some who are mean spirited enough to do that) Not sure if that is helpful information or not!

Great job working on this and can't wait to see what else you come up with for it!!

Yes, sorry I wasn't clearer in the initial post. Mobile is very much a work in progress. I had intended for the first public release to have better mobile controls and UI. Unfortunately I did not yet get around to that this week. The April Fools event sorta moved the timeline up for release.

None of the mobile controls are implemented yet. It uses only the desktop controls and I know these are not a good experience. The only work that has been done for mobile was to actuallly get it launching, rendering and chat working. I haven't yet been able to do more for mobile yet but I do want to better support it in web or eventually maybe a native app. Mobile Unity3D WebGL is not offically supported by Unity3D nor well by mobile browsers. I will try my best to make it a smooth and quality experience longterm though!
