I for one find it odd that people are being completely banned instead of simply having their trading/selling disabled during the investigation. Disabling that accomplished the same thing, and allows the person to have access to their PM box for evidence purposes.

It happened to me, I was perma banned, and when I asked and said i wasn't botting, they said "wahts done is done, we have no way to prove you actually were innocent..." it pissed me off so bad, I mad e amule and shouted to everyone I was banned unfairly, then I got another perma ban, and as soon as joining I'd get banned. It's like the mods wanted me dead...evetually I made a new mule and layed low, and they haven't found out who i am.

Recently I was in the Q & A Forums and I noticed alot of Threads from users claiming that they were Perma- Banned because of having / receiving Bot Gold. Alot of these users had no idea what Botted Gold was until other users explained it to them. :/

Many of those claims are false. They just want their account unbanned, and they're trying all different means -- including lying -- to get their stuff back.

I don't think you need to worry about getting banned if you own a shop. Receiving botted gold is suspicious when you receive it and don't give anything in return (because it looks like you're helping the botter do the money laundry). But with shops, it's pretty obvious that you're selling them, not money washing.

Here are some precautions you can take, though:

--check the user's post history. If they're making like 700+ posts per day, you can pretty much assume that they're botting. Decline their purchase based on that reason.

--if the user has joined Gaia only a couple of days ago, and he tries to hand you a large amount of money, that's suspicious too. Ask a mod in that case.

Also, when people do get banned for botting, instead of filling out the contact form, they can PM a mod directly. That usually speeds things up.

I still don't think we should have to go through all of that just to be safe. If anything, Gaia should've made these sort of situations SAFER from the get-go. Dispite if someone could be lieing or not... not everyone lies about things like that ya know... alot do but not everyone.

I agree with this... everyone should have a right to a fair trial instead of being banned for being suspected of botting, or banned because they achieved gold that was earned by someone ELSE botting.

Agreed. I dont like Suspicions because most of them remain false. Perhaps if they looked more into the case itself, they will see some people who are actually Innocent.

Yes, gaia really needs to worry about bandwidth costs. I'm sure that's what's draining their resources. I don't like how they say "suspected" because that makes it sound as if they don't really need proof to ban you, more like a "oh we think you're botting so you're banned."
