why couldn't they have just made it with store items so the old, not going to be remade items don't cease to exist?

they executed this TERRIBLY.
edit: it could have been a great goldsink while decreasing inflation on items that shouldn't cost anywhere NEAR as much as they do now.

i was so excited reading the announcements but those hopes went plummeting down when i looked at the ingredients. MP prices rlly did increase. I feel fortunate that i already possess some of them cheap. the owners of these items are rlly going to profit.. stare

Also, uh... Unless I'm misunderstanding, it looks like there's a "chance" of your alchemy thing not working?

I understand that if you put the wrong s**t together it won't work, but... I'm really hoping this isn't like the RIGs where you have a 20% chance of success, and then you get a fail item/your items and gold get used anyway.

Only the gold gets used, you get to keep the items.

OP -
I agree with you entirely, I had high hopes for this feature and yet ...

Plus half of the components aren't even on the MP in the first place!

What pisses me off is that you have people questing CS items (whether from RIGs or bundles) who now have to work twice as hard to reach their goal IF they even can considering these items will be destroyed and become extinct so the possibility of NEVER owning even a moderately priced item (such as the Night Jewels) becomes real. THAT IS COMPLETE BULLSHIT! More than that you have rares on the list to go extinct because they are an ingredient.

GAIA ARE YOU COMPLETELY STUPID? People compete like mad now to get the rares and you want to make it even harder? Are you TRYING to make the community hate you? People are willing to pay for these items and you go out of your way to try and destroy them so only the elitest of the elite can get their hands on them? No one is going to want to quest for things they can't attain! No one is going to buy when it becomes pointless because your goal rests on something forced to be so rare that you have a better chance of getting hit by lightning on the same day you win the lottery.

I am absolutely disgusted with Gaia at the moment. The staff behind this should be lined up and force fed horrible tasting stale cake.

Not even with icing to stop it being crumby and hard to swallow.

That's how annoyed I am at them for this.

Ok, maybe I'm being a little harsh. I'd give them some milk afterward. Just because I'm incredibly nice.

I want to scream at them to fix it now. But will they? From what I've seen, quite a bulk of the community is annoyed by the difficulty level they've chosen and the stupid decision to use rare items until they're extinct.

So yep. Rich gaian exclusive items. They might as well make the site pay to play and be done with it. Stop effing dancing around it making it look one way when it's really another. And they wonder why people try to hack each other and use bots on site.

They've themselves to blame for generating this culture.

Timid Lunatic

I really want to know what staff members thought this was a good idea.
Gaia never takes care of their users that don't have as much gold or cannot afford Gaia cash.
Would you look at Double Complete Rainbow? It's ABP is up 1,444% and it's not even stopping there.
Why Gaia, would you want to make rare expensive items, oh, I don't know, even more rare? Do you want them extinct?
The concept of alchemy, is good, but what Gaia did with it well. . . these angry posts speak for themselves.
Even if Gaia removed the feature right now, I don't think the MP would go back to normal for a long while. Thank you Gaia, for ruining this for everyone except the richest users.

Obviously if no one has that kind of gold and isn't willing to spend that type of gold, the prices will come down. Everyone is in the hype of a new feature being used, that is all. The items that it takes to alchemy(?) with were indeed numerous and low priced until this feature came out. They were basically "failure" type items, items that accumulate because of the high failure ratio of Chance Items. If the Alchemy feature stated the requirement of trash, fish, bugs, flowers, or inks. Then the prices of those would be raised as well, and that did happen when new items for their respective features were released and at some point, updated. The same happened when the recipe section for Back Alley Bargains was released, people got caught up in the hype of the feature and the prices raised on zOMG loot.

I am hoping that trash, fish, bugs, flowers and inks are indeed a part of this at some point. Placing all the blame and anger on Gaia staff instead of greedy Gaians is mis-aimed. And not every alchemy item requires a Chance Item.

But the difference is that trash, bugs, ink, flowers, fish... those are renewable resources. You can walk through Towns, play Daily Chance, go fishing for a little while. Those items are easy to come by without buying them on the market - though presumably they'd be needed in such quantities that we'd actually have to put effort into collecting them, which is exactly what this feature should be doing. Giving us a way to grind our way up to our goal with hard work and collecting, or we could choose to take the shortcut and buy the components off the marketplace. The RIG items were common and low-priced before, but using them for alchemy DESTROYS those items, making them rare, not to mention the assholes who snatch up all the nonrenewable components off the market and rerelease them at artificially inflated prices.

I blame both those greedy Gaians for taking advantage and being jerks about this, AND I blame the staff for releasing the alchemy feature in such a manner that it's so easy for them to do that. We can't even do level 1 recipes because they require nonrenewable resources. This could have been avoided by better planning.

I would not care half as much if they were just using trash, bugs, inks, flowers, zOMG loot. Those can be had by everyone very easily. However, CS items (Items you had to buy from the CS through a bundle, a RIG, Collectable, or direct release) are ingredients. Many of those items they are asking for are MIDRANGED items or RARE. These items will be destroyed once used creating even more rarity unless Gaia plans to keep rereleasing them. This will drive up market prices for anyone who has those items on their wishlists or are questing for them. The Night Jewels as used in my previous statement went from about 150k each to 1 million and at least one of them no longer has any listing on the MP. This was a midranged item well within reach of most users and was very nice. It is now scarce. Gold itself is easy as hell to make so that in and of itself is a nonissue for the alchemy feature.

I would have preferred a new Dernier Cri, personally.

I don't mind new and different features, but I feel like the team didn't think this one through very well. That's the only real issue I have with it. sweatdrop
When I read this, I assumed they made a new item in Dernier Cri*.

Once again, Gaia is catering to the wealthy users, leaving us poorer users in the dust.

I was so sad to see this happen, and it was even worse since I wasn't online for a whole week (was camping with my main squeeze) and I come back to this monstrosity.

Gaia, I am seriously disappointed in you and sad for you. My disappointment is so massive right now, I cannot even comprehend it.

I wonder why I'm still here. It doesn't even seem worth it anymore.

Thank you for ruining the Economy here.

Thank you for making it difficult to obtain an item that was once 7k and is now 400k.

Thank you for putting in the Angelic/Demonic backwings that everyone wanted so badly, and now only the richest of the richest Gaian's will only have it.

I am so sad and disappointed with you, Gaia. So very sad and disappointed.
