I remember Gaia that Alchemy would be a challenge.
I think most people expect it to be a challenge for other people, and easy for them.
Really....
Maybe.
Although my perspective is that when someone tells me a system is about challenging hard work to obtain a reward, my mind doesn't jump to tossing real money into a hole and having to be lucky enough to receive components that are so rare that out of a site of many thousands of people, there is not one to be obtained no matter what I do because it simply doesn't exist yet.
No, when I think of challenging hard work, I think of months to years of farming renewable items all across the site to exchange them for high level items. The effort being in the sheer amount of time and effort I need to put in to gather the extremely hefty amount needed depending on the level/value of the end result. I think of the folks that spent literal tons of effort catching rarer fish to exchange them for items and still those items are rare to this day and hunting non-stop in Towns for a moderate amount of bugs to create body dyes.
I'm willing to work hard and farm my butt off on formulas that would make the 500 inks for body dye or the amounts of farmables needed for the GGB formula look like chump change. I've done it before on other MMOs and I'm sure others are willing to roll up their sleeves and do the same if they could. But Alchemy is not currently a system that rewards "working hard" and so I really don't believe that the dislike of it is simply people wanting things easy for themselves and hard for others.
