This has made my otherwise boring monday into a very interesting evening.

Also, how come we've had no word from a Mod in this thread? In the other linked thread, Zero jumped in the thread within the first few posts to give a "detailed explanation", but no word from anyone in this one? Seems kinda strange that he went quiet all of a sudden.
It would be highly unethical and dishonest for a staff member of Gaia to deliberately set out to acquire a ticket like that. That's why when they have contests in the real world, there is always a proviso that "employees and their immediate family excluded." To not exclude employees, who are in a position to tamper with the outcome, would render the entire contest a sham.

This entire thing reeks, and Gaia has only a few choices: Cover it up and lie about it, ignore it until it goes away, or admit the truth. They'll never admit the truth because (a) they don't have enough respect for us as people to be honest with us, and (b) the truth makes them look like liars and idiots, and they don't want that either. I'm sure they never expected to be found out, and it's undoubtedly extremely embarrassing for them.

Based on the contemptible way they've treated the users for the past year, I don't expect them to ever be honest about this. After all, we're merely lab rats to them, and they figure they can manipulate us with lies and smoke and get away with it. Reminds me of the IRS. And they probably will get away with it.

Also, the person who originally owned the Double Rainbow ticket that now has the mass gold amount of 133T has acted very suspicious as well. Their only replies were "haha too funny" or the ROFL emote. sweatdrop Are they being told to keep quiet? Why does only one account get 133T? How is that even fair for the rest of the community that is now dealing with mass inflation?

Which then leads me to believe that this whole situation was set up in their favor.. So a ban towards that account would honestly become the best situation for all of Gaia. A lot of items have already inflated dramatically since this ticket has been purchase. Angelic Halo went from a stable 1.5T into 4T in less than a week? It scares me to think what else is going to happen if this is just the start..

Lol. Ok so just to correct this. The halos went up from 2tril to 4t before the ticket purchase.i know this because i was trying to buy a halo durring this time and i know the day/time that the ticket purchase happened. And to punish the person who had the ticket in the mp is obsurd they did nothing wrong other than have their ticket up for sale. Just because they got lucky that theirs was the last market price in the mp and theirs got bought is no reason to throw around a ban. O.o

And the reason he has been acting "suspicious" so you say about his posts here is because he finds the whole situation funny. Its funny to me too that its gotten so much attention. Regardless of motive. Just because someone laughs in a thread doesnt make them guilty of anything. rolleyes

Wow, you needa chill out, girl.

Just because you're all bffs w/ the person who obtained the 133T doesn't mean they are totally innocent in this situation. Sorry.

While I get what you're saying, I honestly think that Rina had nothing to do with the situation except for putting their ticket and several other items up all for the same price. While some people might think he did have something to do with it, I'm 100% certain he did not.

This however doesn't mean I agree with the 133 Trillion in circulation. While I don't think the user who had the item up in the Marketplace deserves a ban, I do think for the benefit of Gaians everywhere ALL of the purchases this user made should be reversed.

It needs to happen, no doubt. That spike is just too deadly to the overall economy.

Yeah.

This will be fun for gaia to try to explain.
This was not a legitimate transaction, I don't care if Zero Omega tries to convince us.
Something is definitely off.

Even the richest gaians don't have 133 trillion gold to spent on a ticket for a recolor. 133 trillion gold is like 66 angelic halo's or something like that.

Even for a really talented artist on gaia, 133 trillion is an overwhelming and unreachable amount. They would have to do so many commissions (which takes a lot of of time) and not spend any gold.

It's even not possible for the big GC spender, the gold gen buyers. The highest payout for a gold gen is like 155 billion. They would have to buy an obscene amount of gold gens to generate 133 trillion gold. Or buy just a lot of items and resell them in the marketplace for a few trillion each.

And now 133 trillion gold is in the economy.
Great job gaia, now more people are going to be turned off and annoyed with you. stare
More people will give up questing, stop buying gaia cash because it's pretty much pointless now, or quit entirely.

There will be no point in having gold sinks anymore with this hyperinflation.

Best thing is that in the not so many GG that offered 1 trillion, if that account was not a mule and actually bought MANY of those, there's also no way that it could have made all those trillions unless it had bought at least 133 WINNERS OF THE BIG PRIZE.

So many money for that gold and just... for a partnership with another artist and ONE RECOLOR OF AN EVOLVING ITEM!?

Nope.

Yeah, I've had to defuse a few people angry at Rina.
We've all had those REALLY funny purchases but at the same none of them have come close to this. Plus, typically the people who are buying those items are established users who either have an accurate post count or something..

Not a private profile with an extreme string of rash purchases on Gaia in the last week and such a contradictory post history.

Totally.
There's just no way. I don't care how rich you are, no one is able/willing to buy probably much more than 133 of those gold generators that generate up to 1 trillion.

And then with all that gold, not buy the items that you want and or questing, but spend it all on one ticket.

This thread is moving so fast, lol. I'm surprised that after almost 10 pages, there still hasn't been a mod to pop in and clear things up. This so so sketchy. It can't just be ignored, how could they do that?

WTF, when will we get some answers in here?

Yeah the amount of money is pretty weird, like, I'm sure that you don't always get the highest payout, you won't always get 1tril gold. To get that money purely from generators, surely the user would have had to buy probably over 200, just to get close that much. having said that, I've never used a gold generator and so I'm not fully aware of the odds. It just seems a bit fishy.

So odd that none of the admins or the person in question have replied yet.
Then again, quote summoning in first posts don't work, but I figured someone would've seen it or have gotten linked here since it was said they replied in another thread so fast.

I did notice that the person buying the ticket spends ALOT of GC if you look at the post history, also seems to advertise alot like saying "WHOA I JUST WON … FROM …!", "OH THIS ITEM IS ON SALE!!!" in almost all of her posts.
What did make me suspicious is that most of these posts are about CIs and gold sinks.
And that the staff member in question has this in their journal:
"I work together with our Gaia art team to make lots of gold sinks, mini-CIs, and lovely sets for all of the lovely people out there."

And that their way of posting is similar, but that can be a coincidence.

I'm not gonna dismiss the fact that this theory might just be possible.

I didn't even check her posts.
wow

edit:
but to be fair, the only admin who talks to us is Zero.

In other news, neither thread has a staff reply yet. More news at 8.
