  • The child was in the midst of tugging onto a shop banner while she arrogantly corrected the Brightstar hero. Arisya couldn’t fathom why anyone would want to steal a banner of all things but different strokes for different folks right? As soon as she rolled the loot into her oversized hoodie, she turned to acknowledge the heroes in her presence. The ravager gasped in awe and horribly defended her so-called actions in stealing shop merchandise before asking for autographs. Ari raised a silver brow. There was panic, turmoil and literal flames and chaos surrounding them and this kid was asking for autographs? How strange indeed. On one hand, her quirk enabled her to grab things and zoom out of trouble if she needed to but wasn’t she in the least bit scared or concerned of the ongoing entropy?

The Ranger took control of the situation. Ari nodded in agreement as he deemed it inappropriate to ask for autographs at an ominous time such as this. He then politely asked her tag along so they could escort her out to safety. The duo were well aware that if they left her out on her own devices with just a simple warning, she’d be sure to continue her shenanigans when they were out of sight. That happened all too often with little thieves. But something bothered the pro about all this. Ever since Psyconic pointed out the possibility of another faction exploiting the opportunity and then Fenrir’s text message regarding an imposter, Ari had been wary. On the surface, this girl had a speed quirk. Or at least that’s what Ari observed in that short moment. She could just be a little ravager, as they suspected, but what if she was part of something bigger? Maybe there really was a whole other group out there that she was leaning on for support? And if she really did have no association to this crime, her little friends might be caught up in the same mess.

Just a hunch but things weren’t adding up. Something seemed out of place.

”I’m sure you didn’t come out here all alone? Where’s your friends? Family? I’m worried for their safety as much as yours. Please cooperate so we can lead them out of here too”.

It was worth a try. Ari doubted she’d snitch on her friend’s locations especially if they too were out gathering loot. But maybe if she were really just a common thief, she would cooperate for her friends’ safety. She half suspected her quirk would be used as a backup to evacuate in case things went south. The wind hero pondered briefly. She was more concerned about bringing the imposter to justice. Who knew how many other heroes or quirks they’ve mimicked to cause more panic. She took a deep breath. If the kid wasn’t going to follow the adults, she’d use her wind to direct her to the exit.

Again, she couldn’t stress enough Psyconic’s point— they weren’t asking.

                                                            • The girl waited with anticipation as both heroes would stand before her, the marker still in the racer's hands. "So, what's it gunna be?" The man took the liberty of answered her question first.

“Disrupted or not. Or ‘ransacked’ as you put it doesn’t make anything you’ve just taken free s**t. That being said, I’m sure Angel and I love meeting with people who have love for us. But I don’t think now is really the time to be going for autographs.”

Usagi huffed at the two when they made their unwillingness to cooperate with her desires known. The small vigilante crossed both her arms after tossing the marker behind her with an annoyed huff. "Better it be taken by somebody who will treasure it than to let it fall into the hands of a scalper, so we'll agree to disagree." Of course, it was somewhat BS. Usagi was going to try and sell most of this stuff to score some quick cash, but there were heroes and little things around that she was going to keep for herself. But their mind was pretty made up and she wasn't going to get anywhere from just continuing to pester them about it. The man would slowly walk to her other side as Usagi's eyes followed him around while he would get on her other side. Usagi had lived on the streets far too often to fall victim into paying attention to one person for so long while ignoring the other. She listened to him speak some more while he went and tried to take the high road about everything. Typical hero s**t. “I really hate to say this kiddo, but now really wasn’t the brightest time to go all rogue. If you’re going to steal at least try to play it off, yeah? We saw you sprinting around and I gotta say you’re pretty quick. Obviously know how to use your quirk to good advantage.”

"It's not like anybody is going to stop me. While you're all busy saving the day, we just rush in, grab stuff and get out. It's not complicated why." Usagi retorted, holding her hands behind her head. All this standing around was starting to cause her to get antsy. She couldn't stay still for so long and would twist around some. She paced back and forth between the two adults in short bursts while facing the man, but keep an eye on Angel in case she tried anything funny. At first, Usagi was still pretty nice an playful as he'd compliment her about her speed, choosing to not focus on the main part of his little speech. "Thanks about the speed, by the way. Name's Turbo~ Fastest thing in Tokyo and, currently, not really interested in your defending stuff that's going to get thrown out anyway. Besides, don't you guys have better things to do? Aren't there a bunch of civilians around for you to save or something?" For such a young looking thug, Usagi could muster the dry humor and sarcasm of somebody twice her age. But still, she was good about manners and looking back to her big bag o' swag. "So how about I put everything back and you two go away?" His reply back was pretty much what she expected.

“Asking you to put all of it back would just be a waste. We don’t have time for petty thieves but you being all quirked up in a place like this, uncaring about a few things that concern me, in turn makes me concerned about you.” It was a weird feeling that just popped up in her chest. Why would anybody be concerned about her, of all people? All she did was just some petty crime, eating hot chips and sleeping! He continued on, his finger piercing the air that led to her body. “Timing is everything you know- and right now I’d like you to help me put suspicions to rest. I’m going to need you to come with me so I can escort you out of here safely. No need to get caught in the crossfire of a big battle for trinkets and what-not.” The girl scowled at the request, her mood now on a downward slope. "I'm fine where I am now, and I'm sure as hell not trusting you guys to just take me away."

”I’m sure you didn’t come out here all alone? Where’s your friends? Family? I’m worried for their safety as much as yours. Please cooperate so we can lead out of here too”.

Usagi spun around to Angel as she spoke up finally. She might have forgotten she was even there! "I've got friends around. I'm not telling you. And I don't have or need a family. I can take care of myself." she said to the heroine with a troubled face. The questions were obviously getting to hit a pretty personal place and were only forcing her to become far more aggressive than usual. "Why the hell do you care anyway? The moment these cameras are off, you're just gunna forget about this and tell your followers about your dinner or some s**t."

“Oh, and before you get any ideas… I’m not asking.”

That was the line that crossed the line of Usagi's patience. She growled to herself, a fierce annoyance in her eyes while turning back to the man, groaning to herself as she was visibly irritated. Her pacing around stopped as she slowly walked towards him. "Y'know why I hate heroes like you? You walk to this stupid event with your $500 douchey sunglasses and an attitude like you just deserve all of this. Then you have the balls to think that you can just tell me to fall in line and I'll be like every other fan in your circle." Usagi tossed the bag aside, its contents spilling out everywhere as she shoved her hands in her pockets and producing a bundled up piece of candy before shoving it into her mouth, chewing it with force. This was no ordinary candy though, but one of the most sour in Tokyo! "Fine then. I tried playing nice." Usagi felt the bitter sting immediately as she dropped into a runner's position and would begin to sprint in place, her legs a blur as it began to create a small dust cloud from her boosted energy reserves. In an instant, her form shifted, as heat began to come off of her while she faced both heroes. The girl grinned mischievously and was vibrating the sheer amount of forces on her body. "You wanna pretend you're a hero, fine. I'll play the big bad like you so want! Here, let me help you."

Usagi spun around and jumped into the air again, doing the same technique as before as she used the speed from her current position and took off running around the vicinity. Her speed was even faster than before, though it was clear to both that she wasn't running away. Far be it! When she appeared again, Usagi was in the air and ready to launching around flurry of wind kicks at the two. "Get a load of this!" she locked her hips and twisted her body around in preparation. "Cranberry..." After locking the hip, Usagi spun like a centrifuge, her form whirling around at a mile a minute before her legs would curl up as she stored her strength. "Chocolate..." Finally, Usagi focused her quirk's ability to her legs as they'd kick out in every which direction. "Sundae!" Tents were blown to pieces, the ground would be pretty banged up, and anything nearly not bolted down was blown away by the attack. Oddly enough, she made it a conscious effort to avoid firing off at anybody around them that weren't Angel and Psyconic. The saving grace was that Usagi was still fairly weaker than the two opponents she was facing and lacked the refinement that Angel had with her wind control. When Usagi came down, she'd spin before the two, bouncing back and forth with the frustration still at large.

"I'M REALLY FEELING THIS SUGAR RUSH!" she laughed. "BETTER BE SERIOUS ABOUT THAT THREAT, PRETTY BOY. OTHERWISE, I AIN'T GOING!"

No time wasted with her alpha. He moved quickly, and the first time he did it, she found it hard to even see. That was back when they first were training. The leader of Obsidian oversaw it. It didn't take long to master holding onto him due to her trust. "Of course!" Acknowledging his order to hold firmly. She noticed the sudden drop in temperature just as Fenrir did, but her mind wasn't on the pending doom surrounding them. "Brrrrrr! Cold! The ice cream maker is near! Tsume, after this, I would like Coldstone, please! Someone here knows how to make it." It was clear she was oblivious to her surroundings when it came to danger, but her heals were of a completely different class. As she moved, she aimed her heals at the group next to them and blew bubbles in a kiss fashion. An aura of blue light overtook them, and her wounds would begin to mend. She gave a thumbs up and regained her hold on her wolf.

A sharp turn took them on the path to outside, where her smile went into a look of worry. She listened to the slander coming from the people's mouths and went on the defensive! " NO! Please think rationally! Our babies would never do such a thing! They have never attacked anyone! We have no reason to lie in the slightest. Of course, my love, let's make sure he's okay, then see who the imposter is! I'm not the smartest, but I know our wolves didn't do this because they're all here! Our real fans know how many are in Fenrir's pack!" Her hands moved in a pleading nature!

" Are you saying we're liars?! Bubbles, do you know something we don't know about the culprit?! Are you perhaps working with them?"

Her arms flailed about as tears swelled at the bottom of her eyes, desperately ready to pour out. She wanted to burst in tears, but two things held it back. She was a hero, and despite the people turning on her now, she was still a hero. More so, if she erupted in tears now, Fenrir and their wolves would grow upset and make them look more like the people behind this attack.

" I would never call you fibbers!! I'm just saying; I think you all should think clearly. There are tons of quirk users in the world, and I don't know what's going on, but Fenrir and I would never do this. So please open your minds to believe that. We're still here to help! We will never give up on you guys, so please don't give up on us."

Some remained quiet for a while as they made it over to the woman in the alley. She wasn't dead, and Celty performed her healing. It would take several heals to at least put her in a state where she wouldn't die. It required a lot of work, but she was up for the task. She was Brightstar's best healer, which meant their reputation was on the line. No one would die. She worked her magic and at least got the lady to a state where she wouldn't die. She was still going to need more medical attention. Normally, she would've healed her to perfection, but she needed to save her stamina just in case others needed healing.

“THEY’VE CAME BACK FOR MORE!! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!”

    "Don't be afraid! Don't run!"

Her voice fell on deaf ears. She climbed back onto Fenrir's back and hugged him tightly. They weren't listening to her at all! Hopefully, Ari had a plan, but if she didn't, for once, Celty had one. At the same time, most of her thoughts weren't very bright. This idea was her best. "My wolf, let's go to the control room. I know you probably picked up a scent but wouldn't it be easier to let all the people know? If we go to the principal speaker's room? So like, we could make everyone hear everything and warn them of the imposter and quirk user. We don't have much information, but we know some things. They can do clone thingys. These clones can attack. Maybe someone else caught sight of them? You can tell me if it's a stupid idea, but I want to make sure that you aren't blamed for this."

                                                            • Yuna was a well trained hero, that was obvious and unquestionable. The trick was to test the waters with the opponent, prod, try, check and pretend like you didn't know better until you learned the way they moved. She dodged his attack just a breath away from getting hit, only because she was light on her feet and agile enough to step backwards. Using his momentum, she slid around him and mounted his back effortlessly, legs wrapping around his middle and hands going for his head. Just a quick snap of the neck and he'd be dead, yes? Blues quickly took in the surroundings and that idea left her mind. Too many eyes. Heroes didn't kill.

                                                              "Lights out big boy~"

Hands went for his eyes instead, intending to burn his eyeballs through his eyelids, when he suddenly jerked forward and she lurched forth with him before he grabbed at her shoulder and twisted her over his head with tremendous strength that she had not been expecting. Her back slammed into the ground and the air was knocked out of her lungs. This was a vulnerable position. Catching her breath, the blonde immediately shot her hands up and a light charged blast shot out point blank in his face. That would normally throw someone back hard and burn their face off --but not him.

What kind of quirk did this guy have? Realizing her current predicament, the heroine chose a different approach. Play dumb. She looked up at him sheepishly. ”Ooh~ usually it's after the 2nd date that I have girls wanting to try those kinds of kinks out on me~" If he was mocking her or not, she didn't give two shits. Instead, she played along with a little smile, “Can’t you make an exception to the rule? Doesn’t this look like a romantic movie moment where you decide to let me go because I’m kinda cute?” it was worth giving it a shot, just until she was far away enough.

”Oh, normally I would, but the ugly dog has decided it is time to interrupt.” he caught an ice spear just as it was about to hit, probably both her and him. A flare of anger swelled in her chest. Okay Kiki the snowman needed to chill, ”Guess we won’t get to have any alone time, kind of awkward when the dog’s watching,” she spat out with a bit more of an edge than she usually used. Intentional or not, this guy was about to turn her into skewered meat. A mental note on it was made for later.

Thankfully, this caused the villain to turn his attention to winter jacket and she took the opportunity to pull herself up and put distance between them. Her back ached something fierce, to the point where she had to be careful how she inhaled and exhaled, otherwise it would feel like someone lodged knives into her back. Oh ew, she stepped into some sticky blood there. With a disgusted face, the blonde wiped her shoe on a patch of grass, turning her attention back to the fighting duo still going at it in their weird pissing contest.

"Why can't he just freaking freeze him up instead of trying to clumsily go at him like this?"

Though, honestly, if she glanced at their distant surroundings, it seemed like everything was going to s**t one way or another. Okay, time to get her head back in the game. The moment she'd see an opening, she was going to come in hot. Closing her eyes, Yuna began absorbing all the electricity around, lights going off, electric appliances stopping and screens shutting down in the area.

Of course, just what he needed, another righteous rookie hero lecturing him as if she had a clue what this hero world was even about. Not that he blamed her. Fresh out of high school, the former “golden boy” also looked at the world through bright lenses. Experience molds you into who are, trauma shapes you into what you become. Young Ryuusei would’ve never approved of his current image, but you know what? Young Ryuu didn’t understand the selfishness of these false heroes. He didn’t understand how the hero system was so faulty and ******** up that the pressure and negativity of it could divert anyone’s life path towards one of villainry.

This child didn’t understand the true villains standing among her. The hero system was corrupt. She stood by fake heroes who cared for nothing more than to see their names in the headlines and their faces on billboards. Those who become heroes from the goodness of their hearts? Yeah that was a dying breed.

He reached into his pocket for a cigarette and lighter. He could use a little meditation break to calm himself— but this would suffice. Igniting his vice, he took in a long pull before exhaling. ”Is that so?”, he responded to her less than humble brag about replacing him in the top ten. The Japanese Hero Billboard were all but numbers. She’d soon learn the strain of being on top and the extent her colleagues would go to surpass her. She’d soon see the corrupt and backstabbing natures of most of her top 10 peers— they were far from angels.

”So would you say you’re ready to take on the pressure of being on top? You know what they say. The higher you climb, the harder you fall….or some bullshit like that, I don’t know”, he was living proof of that statement, among countless others in history. While the others hadn’t walked the path of evil, they too were scathed by the greed and selfishness that plagued the top 10. ”So kid, why do you even want to be a hero?”, not that he cared much for her answer. But for the longest time, he had forgotten why he aspired to reach the top. Was it the same selfish desires? Perhaps to make a difference in this world— which, if you think about it, wasn’t too far off from his current convictions.

But here, she was childishly boasting about something that required no praise. At least not to Ryuusei. What good was the top 10 even? Just a bunch of pricks competing to see who could cause the most damage. They were no heroes. Besides, this girl was Obsidian trash nonetheless, probably vying for fame and fortune and that huge bonus Mr. Money Bags would offer with that ranking. Yeah, he wouldn’t be surprised.

The blonde continued on with sad insults that fell on deaf ears. He didn’t care much what others said or thought about him— his convictions were more just than that of most heroes. He wasn’t the real villain here. Taking another pull, he responded, ”Yes, I am tired. Tired of all these sad excuses of false heroes. Tired of all the hypocrisy and egomania radiating from these frauds who wear their hero title as if they’ve earned it. You think villains are corrupting society? No, heroes are just as much to blame”. His tone remained level and calm as he flicked the cigarette bud.

Ryuusei was well aware of the truce between Fortune and Arachnis. He also knew what this child was capable of. Analytical and cautious as ever, he studied whatever he could find on Obsidian’s quirks. As a former UA student, Elia’s quirk and applications were easily found with a click of a button. Of course, this worked both ways. He was well aware she knew the capabilities and limits to his quirk. If not from the UA sports festivals, then definitely from footage and fanboy analyses throughout the course of his career on the field.

”Help, help! We need a hero!”

Not too far from the distance, a crowd of people were shouting, running frantically looking for exits. Some were caught under the debris, others laid injured from being trampled on. ”Tsk tsk, what a mess”. This girl probably didn’t know of the truce between their bosses so whether she’d fight or hold back was up to her own will. He wasn’t tasked to fight so he obviously wouldn’t launch the first hit but he was interested to see where her heroic lion heart gravitated towards. ”So now that you’ve spotted a member of the former top 10, the so-called former golden boy of Japan, what will you do? I’m sure they need rescuing, but let’s be real, are you even that kind of hero? Wouldn’t you rather see if you’ve earned your keep or are the market projections wrong?”

Li Na was never one for theatrics, but the situation called her to play the role in order for her to not draw attention to herself or the more discreet operation of her Crimson Banshee members. If the others could locate any Calamities members, the leader hoped that they would apprehend them for further questioning. Any leads, intel, and other valuable information were highly wanted- it would be most advantageous for them to destroy the remnants of Requiem from the inside out, if possible.

As the young hero seemingly bought the fabricated tall tale, the spider woman watched carefully at the emotions displayed by her visor. An interesting aesthetic choice of wear, but who was she to judge on the Hero apparel they donned themselves with? Whatever had gone on through her little head, it seemed to work in the favor of the Crimson Banshee leader. She was already spotted by this Hero so there was no way to shake her off, but if given the chance to be secluded with her, she would take advantage in shaking off her tail. Arachnid never liked doing things out in the open, for it was always rather tactless, it was a major reason why she fell out with Requiem at the end- Oh, and the fact that they left her out to rot on a death mission,

"I-i believe it was this path ..." she spoke with quickened hesitancy, her brows still furrowed together as she tearfully continued her act,"Thank you so much for your help, Miss Hero." and with a turn of her red-bottomed heels, the two were off.

The commotion of the food stalls left them gradually. At one point, Li Na thought that it was rather ... foolish of this young Hero to leave her supposed post. Surely she was new to the field, otherwise, she would not so easily venture off due to the persuasion of her heart. A kind gesture displayed by the pinkette, but one that would receive a rude awakening.

Feigning a panted breath the woman looked around with a lack of certainty, continuing this role of a lost mother who sought to find her kidnapped child she walked towards an alleyway. Preemptively knowing that this alleyway was a dead end, she led the hero in with each fake 'hesitant' step,"I-i think I heard a rustling noise here ... did you, Miss Hero?" she looked back at Syun-ho. The implication that there might be danger ahead would shift their stances a bit, bringing the Hero alert and to the forefront of the darkened alleyway. Protecting a 'civilian' like herself was protocol, it was unfortunate that she was not the person in need of help.

Her gaze locked onto the young hero, and delicate movements of her crimson-tinted fingertips danced behind her back. Red strings conjured from her palm and stealthily snaked over to the unsuspecting Hero. "It must have been my mistake ... as it will be yours as well." her sharp words gripped in the growing tension. Sudden threads grabbed onto the young Hero's arms and legs, quickly gripping themselves onto the unsuspecting victim.

"I would not move so much if I were you, my intention is not to hurt you." her cold voice commanded. The red threads continued to spin themselves like a web, connecting to the nearby wall of the alleyway and dragging the young Hero along with it, sticking her to the wall and subduing her movements. "It is unfortunate, that you had to come across me, young one." she gazed over at the Hero.

"I do not wish for you to get in my way again, got it? My threads will inject you with poison if you make any unwarranted movements." the warning was issued. Li Na turned her heel to walk away, knowing that the Hero might start alerting their teammates to the scene soon if she did not make a getaway. Or maybe, the Hero might be gutsy enough to challenge against her threats. Either way, Arachnis glanced back at the girl,"Care to enlighten me on something? I might not have you injected with poison if you answer well."

"What does the Obsidian know about the Calamities? How were they able to stage this sudden attack?" was her blunt question. If she got an answer, she would hold her end of the deal ... if not, well, perhaps the pink-haired girl can fight her way out and keep her a bit busier for longer- she didn't want to have to put down a fresh Hero who just started off in their journey.

                                                            • Never a dull moment in the world of heroes and villains, that's what Syun had been thinking as she followed the woman's way outside of the food market and back towards the outer circle of the event area. Her worries and thoughts did cause her a great deal of worry for the child. If what that person could do was to turn the people surrounding the stage into a fine paste in a matter of seconds, she didn't want to imagine what they had plans for with a child. They two were off as she thought hard about tge direction in which the child had been taken"I-i believe it was this path ...Thank you so much for your help Miss Hero!" Her steps hastened as the sound of clacking heels were her guide for what would guide for to deal with the cretins that dared to involve a child with this kind of stuff. As they moved together, Syun-ho looked back to the brown haired mother behind her as a look of determination flashed on her visor, shifting the screen to show a new emoticon: (*•̀ᴗ•́*)و ̑̑ "Don't worry. We'll save your child. Everything will be alright."

The hustle and bustle of the main parts of the park passed them by and Syun did notice that fact. They had really taken the child so far out instead of keeping them inside of the park itself. Was this some sort of attempted kidnapping them? It did make sense for this place to be a target, but why would they strike when the Calamities were present and likely had little care for some petty criminals getting caught up in their antics? She pushed the thought to the back of her mind while the woman led her to an Alleyway. She looked inside and would utter a still frantic, "I-i think I heard a rustling noise here...did you, Miss Hero?" The young intern stuck her head inside to inspect it and did hear rustling of some kind. She looked to the civilian and motioned for her to keep behind her. "Stay behind me, alright? It could be dangerous." Syun walked forward into the alleyway and moved quickly to find…nothing. No humans or anything was present, besides the stench of fresh garbage, murky puddles and empty waste being thrown about by the wind. "Nothing." she said to herself, raising a hand to her chin beneath the visor in thought. Had they gone somewhere else? This didn't spell the most optimistic thoughts in her mind. What was going to happen to that child then? They were going to have to open up a search party all night for this. And by that, Syun would be doing what she normally did underneath her advisor, which entailed playing delivery girl like always. The girl stood confused while the mother’s voice behind her took on a more aggressive tone.

"It must have been my mistake...as it will be yours as well."

"Wha-" Syun-ho whirled around in time to watch as the woman launched crimson strings at her, covering her arms and legs while binding her together. The visor swapped to a more fitting face: ∑(゚ロ゚〃). "H-Hey! What the hell?! What’re you-" The strings continued to spin and spin until it had her pretty much incapacitated. "I would not move so much if I were you, my intention is not to hurt you." she spoke. A force flung the foolish intern to the wall as the worried mother walked to her with an amused yet taunting look on her face. Syun struggled as the stingy material was like liquid cement.. "It is unfortunate that you had to come across me, young one." Well, this was an eventful outing. She had been busy saving people in her first real outing when stumbling across this woman and now? Her first actual meeting with a villain. This must have been a record for the Obsidian record books. "Damn it. Shitshitshit…" she muttered to herself while the woman began to speak.

"I do not wish for you to get in my way again, got it? My threads will inject you with poison if you make any unwarranted movements."

Syun’s movements ceased at the threat, looking at the woman with horror in her eyes while she sat pinned against the walls by these sticky threads. Had she not been pinned against the walls, she would have been trembling on the spot. Like before, the visor changed to an expression of fear: (((╹д╹; ))). "Ah-I’m sorry, okay?! For whatever I did! Please don’t hurt me, I-" Syun rambled on while the woman would begin to walk away and do whatever it was that she had planned. The danger had seemed to subside while Syun stopped midway and breathed a sigh of relief. Then the woman stopped and turned around to face her again. The terror had only renewed as her attention was focused on her again, Syun was still visibly shaken as she stared at the woman. At least she’d die by somebody as beautiful as the webbing that she’d create…

Wait a minute, the threads! She wondered if her quirk could work on them! Working carefully, the intern got to work on worming her right hand back and forth to free it without the villain noticing. The left arm was bound to the wall completely, but the right one was free enough to sit somewhat loose. All she needed to do was to just slip free just enough and grab a handful. A task easier said than done. Small movements, Syun.

"Care to enlighten me on something? I might not have you injected with poison if you answer well." The woman began, "What does the Obsidian know about the Calamities? How were they able to stage this sudden attack?" The brief snippet of information took the girl by surprise. "W-What do you mean? You’re not with the guy on stage? Ah-I don’t know anything! I’m just an intern. I j-just bring coffee to people and get yelled at for existing!" While a bit of an extremity, it technically wasn’t not true during her time at Obsidian. "L-Look, I was trying to help civilians get out of the event area. I didn't expect to meet a beautiful wo- I mean, I wasn't expecting to see you there! I don't even know what a Calamity is! I promise..." Syun-ho, while still scared, was trying to still get herself free, though it would be a bit longer.

“Everyone run!!! Run for your lives!!”

“Fenrir's attacking civilians so Bubbles can heal them!! They’re both in on it!!”

“Brightstar has betrayed us!! Inflating their own numbers to make themselves look good! And they’re using us as pawns to do it!!”

Oh, this was fantastic!! This was why chaos ruled all! With a single push, these idiots had forsaken their saviors in favor of panic and fear. In just a few moments, Zeno had chipped away at the reputations of two heroes who had been believed to be untouchable just hours before. At this point, it didn’t matter what any of them said or did. An attack had been witnessed, civilians were harmed, and rumors were already surging online. Once the seeds of doubt had been rooted, they were a real b***h to purge.

“Why would they do this!? I love Fenrir and Bubbles!!”

“Just think rationally,” Zeno chimed into the fray, intentionally mirroring the language from the desperate pleas of Bubbles. “They have everything to gain from this event going wrong. Think about it clearly. Obsidian gets attacked, and THEY save the day. Have you seen any villains here other than the one Obsidian is fighting? No! There aren’t enough casualties for them, so Fenrir is creating them so he can make himself and his girlfriend look good!!”

“I bet Brightstar set this whole thing up!!”

It was difficult not to break out in laughter. He was having so much fun that he had to keep himself moving through the crowd just to contain his gleeful energy. Fenrir seemed to think keeping his wolves close to him would assist in his plea of innocence, but Zeno intended to turn that on him as well. Keeping his pack so close meant his range was limited. It was a disadvantage Zeno didn’t share with his adversary and one he fully intended to take advantage of.

Momentarily receding to a private area away from the crowds, Zeno placed his hand on the ground and recalled his shadow. The dozens of tendrils toying with Ueki and Nova whipped back like lightning, speeding away from the scene in a flurry of interlacing threads. Simultaneously, the shadow wolf plaguing Fenrir and Bubbles momentarily paused its attack. It was an instant of unsettling peace as Zeno pooled his power back to his body. He needed to reconsolidate his shadow to pull off his next little trick.

His shadow back in one piece, he broke it apart into four wolves to send out into the wild. Traveling through the darkness and shadows, the creatures materialized in four separate sectors and began terrorizing the fleeing civilians once more. Reports of wolf attacks sprung up all over the area. Panic and hysteria ran rampant. And amid it all was the still bleeding Zeno, hobbling along as he helped to spread the salacious accusation that this was all the doing of Fenrir and Bubbles.

“Run!! Fenrir and Bubbles are attacking!!” His bloody hand reached forward, latching onto the back of Ueki’s shoulder in what would appear as a desperate attempt for stabilization. “You gotta get the ******** out of here, man. Those beats are running people down!!”

Timed oh so perfectly, one of the shadow wolves charged at the pair after chasing a mob of frantic people their way. Just another victim of ‘Fenrir’s ravenous attack.’ They did always say never to keep wild animals as pets. You never knew when they were going to snap.

                                                  Quote:

“I don’t recall ever explicitly claiming I wanted to be one,” her response to the villain’s inquiry was nonchalant. Perhaps it was a bit too honest for the ears of her enemy, but it didn’t matter anyway. She doubted Ryuusei cared about her response. And even if he did, it wasn’t like that information was earthshaking. Children of successful pros were often expected to follow in their parent's footsteps regardless of whether they wanted to. It was a reality she was sure someone with Ryuusei’s background would understand.

“Sometimes circumstances dictate what we must do and become.”

Before Obsidian had reformed her vigilante father, Elia would have never imagined she’d become a hero one day, let alone stand at the cusp of becoming one of the top ten heroes in a foreign country. But life was strange like that, wasn’t it? Full of unexpected twists and turns. Early on, Elia had learned that it was easier to adapt to the changes than hopelessly rage against them.

“But you wouldn’t know anything about that, would you?” That was sarcasm. She may not have known the intricate details of the villain’s backstory, but she knew enough from his villain profile and old hero articles to have a basic idea of where he came from.

“Yes, I am tired. Tired of all these sad excuses of false heroes…”

The next words to slither past the villain’s lips piqued her interest. Seeing a figure like Ryuusei cry out about hypocrisy was devilishly amusing. Particularly because she knew exactly what he was talking about and how powerless they all were to stop it. If he was tired now, he’d have a real hard time with what was ahead. At least he had his cigarettes to help calm the strain.

“Is that so?” She didn’t sound participially surprised by his confession. Another rookie may have been confused or convinced Ryuusei had a skewed view on things. That he was trying to poke a hole in some bright-eyed novice’s comprehension of a system they had yet to fully understand. But that wasn’t who Elia was. “Such a pity. I do hope you don’t exhaust yourself too soon. You might not be able to weather the storms to come.”

Had she implied she knew a great deal more than she should have? Perhaps. But this conversation had drawn her interest. Why couldn’t she have a bit of fun? Besides, she hadn’t explicitly claimed anything. The depths in which she understood Ryuusei’s words were entirely up to his interpretation. But just to keep firing burning, she decided to throw a log on the pile herself.

“So, you murdered a couple cops and you’re still the righteous one here, huh? Have you considered it’s thanks in part to you that Obsidian is in this country to begin with? You’re a smart guy, surely, you’ve considered the timing. A top ten hero turns traitor and joins up with the very organization that’s been plaguing the nation for years. It's no wonder the Prime Minister had to seek foreign aid. He couldn’t even trust his own heroes thanks to people like you. Perhaps you should stop calling the kettle black. The way I see it, you’ve corrupted far more of your nation’s soul than any egotistical hero seeking fame.”

They stood at a standstill, each studying the other in anticipation of their adversary’s next move. Some cries for help sounded off in the distance. Ryuusei tried to taunt her into deciding between two difficult choices, the only ones he believed she had to make in this scenario. But she was having fun with their little chat, and he hadn’t considered all the angles.

“You and I both know the answer to your question is irrelevant to the ultimate outcome,” it was a harsh truth, but one the current system supported. Did it matter if she rushed off to save those citizens? Not in the slightest. She had already saved a great deal of people that day, including the life of the only person at the event who actually mattered, the Prime Minister. Adding a few more names to the list wouldn’t make a difference. She had already secured her praise for the day. Besides, she wasn’t the only hero running around. Another hero in her shoes could have easily determined the best course of action was to deal with the immediate threat Ryuusei’s presence posed and let another hero save the civilians.

Although, it didn’t matter if she captured Ryuusei or not either. Just the fact that she had encountered him could be spun to her advantage by Obsidian’s PR team. She didn’t even have to fight him. His presence alone was enough to exonerate her from her obligations to rescue. And that was only if it was even reported she made contact with the villain at all. Amid all this chaos, details were easily lost in the shuffle.

“Let me ask you something. What makes you so certain you understand my motivations?”
