BACKGROUND STORY
The Story of Black Butler leading up to this RP
*Spoiler Alert: If you want to watch the anime, then do that before you come here.*
Ciel Phantomhive, the son of a wealthy noble family in Victorian England, had his life turned unexpectedly upside down when an unknown group of people murdered his parents and burned his family’s manor to the ground. The only one left alive, Ciel was kidnapped and sold into a human trafficking ring, and eventually found himself the sacrifice for some sort of unknown religious ritual. Hearing Ciel’s cries for vengeance, a demon made a contract with Ciel on the condition that, when he has helped Ciel to accomplish his revenge against theones who humiliated him, he will consume the boy's soul. With the demon acting as his butler under the alias of Sebastian Michaelis, Ciel made his way back into high society, inheriting both his mansion and the title of Earl from his late parents.
He also claimed his deceased father’s title as the Queen’s Guard Dog, a position that puts an end to crimes in London’s underworld before they tarnish the names of those in high society. It wasn’t more than two years after Ciel made his contract with Sebastian that occurrences seemingly related to his parents’ deaths cropped up, and the pair investigated, only to come to the conclusion that it was the Queen herself and her angelic butler who had ordered the attack on the Phantomhive family. After a long and tedious journey, and a final, decisive battle, the Queen dies and Sebastian manages to defeat the angel, her butler. Ciel, having accepted the fact that his revenge is complete, submits himself to Sebastian, and awaits the demon’s consumption of his soul; however, Sebastian never managed to consume Ciel’s soul.
It was taken by another demon by the name of Claude Faustus. Claude, in the service of Earl Alois Trancy, stole away Earl Phantomhive’s soul, on his master's order to make Sebastian Michaelis suffer. Alois, who had been a poor village boy and later a prostitute to the head of the Trancy family, contracted with Claude so that he could escape from the suffering and humiliation in his life, much like Ciel. He believed that Sebastian was the one who had eaten his younger brother, Luka, who had contracted with a demon. Naturally, having been deprived of his hard-earned meal, Sebastian came to retrieve his master’s soul, expecting to be able to consume it when he awakened, but Ciel’s soul was now incomplete as the memories of the accomplishment of his revenge were missing. Obligated to abide by the contract, Sebastian could not devour Ciel’s soul if he had no recollection of the revenge that they had earlier incited against the Queen.
He set about making a deal with Claude, in order to hasten the process: Alois would become the new target of Ciel’s revenge, in exchange for a battle over Ciel’s soul. The victor, between Sebastian and Claude, would become Ciel’s contracted demon, and devour his soul when the contract was fulfilled. Ciel challenged Alois to a duel to exact his revenge and mortally wounded him, but the butlers intervened. Claude killed Alois and captured Ciel, brain washing Ciel so that his body could accept Alois' soul, creating one being out of two separate entities. As the butlers race for Ciel's soul, Alois learns that his housemaid, Hannah, was the demon who had contracted with his younger brother. He also learns that, because of Luka’s love for him, she in turn could give Alois the love that he sought so desperately in life.
Though Alois’ soul is reconciled, Sebastian and Claude must fight one more battle, which will ultimately decide who should take Ciel’s soul. Alois makes a new contract with Hannah, which states that the victor should never be able to consume Ciel Phantomhive’s soul. Sebastian emerges victorious from his duel with Claude, but finds, shocked, that he cannot consume Ciel’s soul, because Ciel has become a demon. Ruefully, Sebastian agrees to be Ciel’s butler forever after that, because their contract is still in tact.
INTRODUCTION
It is now, a hundred and twenty-four years after Ciel Phantomhive becomes a demon. This is modern day Black Butler, with the "young master" being contracted for a meal.
