The Roleplay is based of the world of the Naruto franchise, but leaves out any presence of the characters involved in any of the arks, allowing for new creations, new stories to breathe life into the land. Here we will create our own history with only the knowledge of how jutsu works, how tailed beasts work, and things such as that. We will not be held back by the perimeters set before us from the manga of Naruto. Everything is new and is up to your creative genius to mold and everyone else's to make the new history of the land. That being said there is no sharingan, no Uzumaki clan or Uchiha so if you are looking for another one of those roleplays you are out of luck, I want originality from all those who take on the roleplay.
There will be a general timeline of events that I have in store for the world, but the politics, the treaties, the back stabbing, the romance, the wars, those are up to the Kages and the people that influence he/she. This world is yours for the taking, the only things stopping you is your convictions (unless I tell you I am not okay with a certain plot device). Your decisions in the roleplay may actually spark events quicker than I planned or put a halt to them, making me come up with all new twists and turns for the world to endure. Through the events that I planned and the events that take place by your own hand the world will be thrown into chaos after chaos and we get to see just how conniving, how barbaric or inspiration a civilization can be in its time at need. The world is at war and everyone is on the edge of their seats, won't you come along? - Keeping it short and sweet as you will have a fair amount to digest should you continue.
Necessity breeds the tools to accomplish victory in dire circumstances. It is through these trials, these rising conflicts that people invent and reinvent themselves to rise to a challenge. The world is riddled in war, people succumbing to their barbaric natures as they move in nomadic tribes across the lands of the shinobi world. As one warrior falls so to does a father, a mother, a daughter, a son, the blood ties everyone. Often we forget the enemy is a person as well, giving us the ability to vanquish all opposition without so much as a flinch.
There was a time when the shinobi world was a much more savage place, a time when the term shinobi was a word with out definition. Tribes of people roamed the lands taking what they could and fighting with other tribes to keep what they had or take what the others held close to them. Death was rampant as each clan fought with all their might. Some tribes fell to the earth and never rose up again, and others triumphed. Those who remained strong would eventually match up with other tribes that would succumb to their power and be put into the larger's fold, these became known as clans. Through the conflicts of the clans clashing over and over again a new weapon was formed, Chakra, a weapon born from the energy with in everyone. Everyone had different manifestation of their chakras, some being able to shoot fire, others could move earth or water, some could even move the air around them; the possibilities were endless. One way or another the strongest clans came to bump heads over a location and eventually villages were born through treaties or utter victories granting the victor the land.
Every village has it's own creation story, most who live there have heard the stories time and time again of the times before Kages, a time before civility. The time before Kages seems like it was such a long time ago when in fact it was only one hundred and fifteen years ago. Some of the village elders still can remember the beginnings of their villages, but to the young it comes off as folklore, tales from the old days that just might be fudged from their senile grandparents. Most people seem to forget the barbaric tribes they were once apart of due to internal conflicts with in their homes, their villages. Raising a village from the ground up was not something so easily done and some of the great shinobi villages were having more troubles than others. Every village had it's own strengths and weaknesses, their own diplomatic system or lack there of. Some villages had even been to war with one another in the past, but neither village would fall, but none the less tensions survived the treaties that had put in place.
Over time the villages came to a peaceful resolution. The world cried for vengeance, the only way to get rid of the animosity between the villages was to give the people what they wanted. Violence. Controlled violence, but violence. The Kages set up a tournament that any shinobi could compete in. The tournament was called "The Tournament of Legends". The tournament allowed the shinobi of all villages to participate in a world wide tournament that would grant the winner the title of the strongest shinobi in land, breaking back pride and ego to the village he/she hailed from and granted them the title of an S-Rank ninja. The rules were simple, the last person alive at the end was the winner. It may have seemed barbaric, but it decreased hostilities by nearly 60% across the board. Civilians and non participating shinobi alike got to see their thirst for bloodshed as they took seats in the giant coliseum that was constructed in a different village every two years. Beside the Tournament of Legends the Kages had also decided to host Chuunin exams every year in a different village to promote alliances between the villages. Their final measure was to have a Kage meeting every year as the Chuunin exams were in progress, this the appearance that all was well in the world. It would turn out that the facade was not entirely true.
Twenty years before our story begins most of the kages are murdered or wounded at the Tournament of legends by a masked figure that displayed no head band or symbol of his employ. All fell to the ground except for the Kage of Iwagakure and the assailaint managed to get away as the Tsukikage was caught off guard by all that was going on around him. People began to call for blood once more, there were many people speaking of the Tsukikage and were calling for their head. The village of Iwagakure and their Kage claimed they had nothing to do with the assassination attempt at the tournament, but belief was few and far in between. Not all were against Iwagakure, some accused the other villages that they had long been holding disdain for and once again skirmishes riddled to continent, blood making the green grass grow around the departed bodies that littered the earth,
Over time the battles have become less and less, fatigue taking over. The villages reopened tournaments and allowed for negotiations. Tensions were high and trust was such a fickle thing. What did the world have in store for its population? Only time would tell..

５ＢＫ The Five Villages begin to be formed by powerful clans, in some case multiple clans formed the village together, others gained control as the most powerful clan in the land. The Villages decided to end the fighting between lands by forming a United Council of each cities top leaders.
１ＡＫ The council of clan leaders met again and determined there were too many people trying to lead, it was decided they would elect one person in each land to be the leader of that land and a council member for this council. These leaders became the first of the Kages who would work together to keep peace in the lands.
２５ＡＫ The villages have become know worldwide and many small clans have come to the villages to learn and to have protection from rouge ninja and other villages. Each village has begun to train their army of ninja by this point and have sent spies into the other lands. All five have a tailed beast under control by this point.
３０ＡＫ First Hokage has retired and has passed his title on to the second. Cloud losses control of beast until ４５ＡＫ.
３２ＡＫ－６７ＡＫ War breaks out between Sunagakure and Kirigakure.
３７ＡＫ The other lands choose sides and join the war.
６８ＡＫ The war ends and the kages meet again to discuss new ideas for keeping the peace. Kages now have an annual meeting to talk about the lands. They decided to make their chunnin exams a joint event and a different village would host them every time the hold them which would be once a year.
７２ＡＫ As a way to show that the villages are still united a tournament is called to determine who the strongest ninja in the five lands was, anyone who lived in these lands were allowed to enter and many from around the nations gathered to witness the fights. The winner was given a belt that they could bring back to their home land to show that they won and they were also given instant Kage level status.. The tournament went so well they decided to hold it once every two years in a different village each time and entitled it "The Tournament of Legends".
７２ＡＫ－８９ＡＫ The new system seems to be working well and peace throughout the land has allowed the clans and villages to grow in size. New Justus and fighting techniques are developed during this time and the bonds between the villages are strong.
９０ＡＫ Most of the kages were murdered or mortally wounded at the tournament by a mercenary who was hired by an unknown person and all villages blamed each other for the crime. The lands were thrown into chaos as they went back to war to avenge their kages. New Kages were elected for the ones that were murdered, but they had no choice but to let the war happen.
９０ＡＫ－１１０ＡＫ Tournaments and testing continue during this war and a temporary truce is called during each one, attempts at peace were usually made during these times. Tournaments get more violent every time, animosity rising in the competitors from the still fresh wound of their Kage's deaths.

It is foretold that 200 years ago Sunagakure sprung forth from the ground in the Kaze no kuni Desert. The story of Suna is one wrapped in myth and lore. Everyone who has been born in Sunagakure has heard the story of Mazu and the twelve sand priests. The sand priests were rumored to be mighty spell casters that lived in the middle of Kaze no Kuni. It is told that the priests had become one with the desert itself by meditating in the dunes for months at a time, with little to no water; they were as dry as the desert. The priests were revered as peaceful people that would help any travelers that were lost in the desert; that being said, the harsh training in the arid desert was bound to drive one of the priest mad, and that's where Mazu came in. Mazu was the youngest of the thirteen sand priests, he was brash, arrogant, and powerful. Mazu believed that the priest shouldn't help wanders that were lost in the desert, he believed that their ignorance should be their folly; he believed that for them to die in the desert would be the process of only the fittest surviving. Due to Mazu's temperament the priest were always watching him, hoping that meditation would change him for the better like it did with them, but they were wrong.
The more time Mazu spent meditating in the desert, the more he started to become twisted and pious. Mazu started to say to the other priests that the desert wanted them to get rid of all who entered 'her' sands. The priests tried to convey the good, and pure nature of the desert, but he wouldn't hear it.
It wasn't long before Mazu killed one of the other priests during his meditation, claiming he was not fit to mold the sands of Kaze no Kuni. The elven priests that were left banished Mazu by taking him in a floating sand prison and left him in the desert far from the sand temple in which the priests practiced their magic and worship of the sands. Mazu meditated in his floating prison of magic imbued sand, trying to figure a way out, for he would surely die with out water. Even on meditation the priest would take a water bottle or two, only needing a few drops every other day or so; it would seem that the priest were to show Mazu that the sands could subdue even him.
After two days Mazu, through meditation had gathered enough of his magical energy to suppress the power of the eleven other priest's magic that held the floating cage together. It is said that once Mazu fell to the floor on his hands and knees, he looked up to see a wind spirit or the spirit of the desert. It is said that the spirit told him that he must walk south; Mazu without question, walked south for eleven days. Those eleven days proved to be a hardship greater than Mazu had ever known. There were times were Mazu had fallen and couldn't find the strength to get up, but it is said that the spirit lifted him every time.
On the thirteenth day Mazu happened upon something green in the desert; and it wasn't cacti. Mazu at this point was sure that he had passed on with the spirit of the desert, but it would just so happen that he had found the revered oasis. This oasis was known by the sand priests, but never found. The oasis was said to have magical healing properties, it was said that the plants around it were both the most lethal in existence and the most life saving; this was the equivalent to the garden of Eden.
Mazu without haste, not knowing that this was the revered oasis drink from the freshwater pool until he could drink no more. It was at this moment Mazu's eye sight became that of more than just a mere mortal. Mazu could see the wind flow, and could feel a beating (much like a heart beat) calling to him in the desert. Mazu formed a bottle from the sand around him and filled it with the spring water before heading towards the beating in the distance.
Upon reaching the top of a dune, Mazu came into a vacant part of the desert; no life what-so-ever. The beating had stopped and Mazu's normal vision returned. It was at this moment Mazu closed his eyes and meditated, he could feel the desert, and he could hear the spirit's voice. The voice told him to drink the water once more, and so he did.
Mazu meditated once more and at this time the beating of the desert was rapid and almost unbearable. Mazu could feel something come over him, the spirit of the desert seemed to be flowing with in him. Mazu threw his hands up and summoned forth a village from the desert's belly. After the desert village sprung out of the ground, the beating was but a light pulsing, and Mazu could no longer feel the spirit.
Mazu meditated at the center of the village for three days, he could feel every part of it; even the underground aqueduct that was seemingly carrying water into the village reserve. It wouldn't be a month before clan's from the desert area would find the village and take refuge with Mazu's permission. Mazu told the two clans that now inhabited the village the creed in which to live by, "Without loyalty there is only chaos. Without obedience there is only death. Without justice there is only greed. Without a place we are lost.Without evolution there is only the weak." With that creed Mazu ruled over Sunagakure for twenty years, placing him at 45 years of age. It was at this age Mazu sought revenge against the sand temple and it's priests. Mazu left one of the shinobi clan leaders to take over his dictatorship in his absence, and this was Tao Dred; the first Kage of Sunagakure.
Mazu finding the spring once more set out to find the sand temple, and with the aid of the water it was almost like Mazu could hear the temple's 'heart' beating. It would be two weeks before he happened upon the temple, but it would seem the other priests already knew he was coming. eleven of them stood their waiting for him in front of the the temple, it would seem the eldest priests had died prior to this occasion because there was a face that Mazu didn't recognize, he must have been a new entry into priesthood.
For two days a battle raged on between the eleven sand wielding priests. Eleven priesst faced of against their enhanced, former brother. Eventually the priesst began to lose, a few of them being crushed to death by certain sand jutsu (what they had later started calling their spells). On the last hour of the second day it was down to Mazu and the youngest priest of the temple. The youngest priest sought refuge in the temple sanctum, which led under the temple and into a room of rituals.
Mazu followed the young priest down into the sanctum only to be sealed away into a tea kettle. It is said that the young priest locked the sanctum and left the temple behind for good. The rest of the story of Mazu and the twelve priest is a bit foggy as it is passed down verbally through out the ages, but most folks hear it as forty years pass in Kaze no Kuni. Word of other shinobi villages reached Sunagakure, but so did a demon imbued with the spirit of the sand; Shukaku. The Shukaku was an evil spirit that took on the form of a giant raccoon beast made of sand. The demon terrorized any and all who stepped in Kaze no Kuni.
Tao Dred, the first Kazekage set out to stop the demon with many other shinobi; for if they did not stop this beast then they surly would be killed by it. It was at the Kaze ruins, where they would confront the demon. The battle raged for three days, many lives being lost including Tao Dred. It was a young ninja by the name of Akuma Rendo who would ultimately subdue the demon, by trapping the demon with in his wife (another shinobi who had survived the battle). Akuma after sealing away the beast would happen upon a well hidden path to an underground tunnel. Akuma and his wife Kishi would walk the tunnels and find a broken down temple, and inside a sanctum. In the middle of a sanctum was a cracked podium and a black tea kettle nestled upon it with a broken seal. The water inside the tea kettle had the stench of evil and hate, and had turned as black as the kettle that held it.
Akuma and Kishi would return to the village of Sunagakure, and the shinobi would hail Akuma Rendo as the second Kazekage. Akuma was a fair Kazekage he ruled diplomatically; he wasn't much of a fighter, but he still held the creed set by Mazu, and all who did not comply would be punished accordingly. Upon Akuma's death a new Kazekage was chosen for his valor in battle, and with the election of a new Kazekage a new Jinchuurki was chosen to hold the Shukaku. Over time it would seem that each Kazekage would rule for their life length, and the same rule applied for the carrying of the Shukaku.
Sunagakure through out history has always been a land of pride and arrogance, reflection the temperament of Mazu of the sand priest.
Many years ago an area that would become known as the Land of Fire was inhabited by a multitude of tribes. From an early stage these tribes were not friendly to one another and began warring among each other, taking other villages as slaves and spoils of war. Some of the Clan began to develop new techniques for fighting and became in tune with an energy they called their Chakra Nature. This continued for years until three tribes rose above the others, they were; Pyrex the Clan of Fire, Kenko the Clan of Water, and Sheru the Clan of Earth, each of these villages were the most powerful in their region. At some point the Earth Clan began feuding with the Clan of Fire in an argument about land. As the war continued the Water Clan was asked to assist the Earth in their endeavors in exchange for a treaty between the clans. The water tribe agreed and began helping the earth in their pursuit of victory, but the Fire clan was a powerful clan, filled with the best fighters in all of the Land of Fire. Eventually from this treaty some of the villagers from the tribes of the Earth and Water began to marry each other which was not good as far as either of the tribes’ councils were concerned, they wished to keep their tribe strong with just members of their tribe. The new group was forced to move to the unclaimed land in the west.
Something interesting happened when this tribe began to give birth to a new generation; their children had the ability to use two Chakra natures, combining Earth and Water to make Wood Style Jutsu. The new tribe decided because of this new type of Jutsu they would take on a new name and become a Clan of their own, they are Uzzu the Clan of Wood. The fighting still continued between the Earth and Water coalition and the Fire Clan, because of the way their original clans had treated the Wood Clan they decided they would help the Fire Clan to fight back. It had now become a two on two all out clan war, Water and Earth vs. Fire and Wood, North and East Vs South and West, a battle that would forever shape the Land of fire as the clans rearranged the landscape to fit their needs. The fighting continued for many years, villagers were born as others died but none of them ever seemed to be close to dying out. Behind the protection of the Fire, the Clan of Wood had multiplied in size and had now become its own force.
Then in the middle of one of the most violent battles of the whole war an ancient evil was awakened from where it slumbered at the bottom of a great lake. The beast stood a hundred stories tall and was like a great horse with the head of a whale; it was known as Gobi and had been disturbed by the war raging in its land. The creature traveled across the Land of Fire bringing devastation and destruction with it where ever it went. The Clans knew none of them could take on a beast of this magnitude alone, the only thing to do was to call a truce and work together to beat this thing. Each of the Clan heads came together to discuss the terms of the treaty and come up with a plan to defeat this creature, to seal it away where it could never escape again. During the years of fighting the Fire and Wood clan had developed a combination Jutsu that allowed them to make wood that was almost as hard as diamond, the called it the Petrified Wood Jutsu and had used it in defense against the Wood and Water tribes a number of times, they offered to make a solid box to use as a containment unit for the beast. It was decided that the four strongest members, one from each village, would perform a sealing Jutsu on the beast to trap him in the box while the rest of the clans worked to distract and hold down the beast.
It was a violent battle between the beast and the clans but despite dramatic losses to their ranks the Clans overcame the beast and he was sealed away in the box made of petrified wood and the four applied a few complicated seals over the box to keep it from escaping or being released. Unfortunately because of one of the seals the box was unable to be moved from its location without the seals being undone so the villages began to argue about who would be the village to watch over the box and make sure the beast was not released. Due to entrust it was decided the best thing to do would be to have the four who sealed the box guard it and for all of the Clans to move to this new area located at the center of their four lands. The Four became known as the four guardians and were each given a title; to the Man from the Sheru tribe was given the title Dragon of the East, to the Man from Kenko tribe was given the title Tortoise of the North, to the Woman of the Pyrex tribe was given the title Phoenix of the South, and to the strongest of them all, the man from the Uzzu tribe was given the title Tiger of the West. These four became the clan heads for their tribes and helped to form the new Village and the area around it. Later down the line the clans would suggest the idea of a person carrying the Bijuu inside of them, thus the jinchuuriki was born.
Konoha had officially come into existence even though tensions were still high as people blamed others for the deaths of loved ones and friends. The guardians formed a council where they ran the city as a group and made the laws that govern the land. Soon all of the hatred for one another subsided as the village was brought together by a new enemy, one of the surrounding lands had begun to move in on the Land of Fire and try to take the land for themselves. This was not good so although the guardians could not leave the village to go protect the borders they began to build teams made up of the four clans to work together and defend the nation. The fighting didn’t last long as the massive power of the four clans together became apparent to the enemy but through the ordeal the village had come together and grown to trust each other. The guardians knew future attacks would still be a problem so they decided they would try to stop these attacks before they happened.
News of four other powerful villages had reached Konoha, one in each of the other four great lands; Water, Earth, Wind, and Lightning. They decided the best thing to do would to try and form a pact with these other cities, so messengers were sent to each of the cites where the informed the heads of each of the villages of the guardians proposal and of a meeting that would soon be held in Konoha. Although unsure of what would happen each of the villages sent representatives to the meeting. In the meeting it was decided that the Villages would work together to promote and keep peace across the five lands and they would no longer attack each other but would work together against other forces. As the meeting ended the leaders of each village returned to where they had come from and a new era had begun, and era of peace and prosperity.
Five years later at one of the meetings between the now council members an issue was brought up that the villages each had too many leaders and it would be a lot easier if each only had one representative who came to these meetings and ran the village. It was decided that the lands would elect a member from their village to become one of the Five Kages. In the Village hidden in the Leaves the unanimous vote went to Tiger of the guardians, Torra Uzzu. He became the first Hokage of Konoha and took over as the single person in charge of running the city. Because of his new responsibilities he no longer could serve as a guardian, so a new tiger was selected to replace him on the team, he chose Sudo Uzzu, his brother, to replace him. It was then decided that a tournament would be held every ten years to decide who the guardians would be.
Torra was a great leader, looked up to by all who entered the village. As the power of their Village grew so did the number of citizens and new clans that came to live in the village. Torra’s time as Hokage was a generally peaceful one, it was a time of growth and learning throughout the land of fire. Each of the four main clans worked together to create the best village they could while protecting the resting place of the tailed beast. The most intelligent of the clans, The Kenko Clan, became firefighters and medical ninja working to keep the village safe, the Uzzu Clan began to build strong defenses around the village and make many agricultural advances with their Wood Style Jutsu, the earth style users of the Sheru Clan became the law enforcement of the village, doing their best to keep the peace, there also seems to be a good number of teachers who come from this clan. Finally we have the Pyrex clan; these powerful fire users have become the strength of the village and produce the best all around fighters. Despite that fact the Kage was untrusting of some of the other lands, so in order to insure the peace and safety of his people Torra began to train a specialized group of ninja to serve as his hands and feet. These Ninja became the ANBU organization and are prided on their stealthy and efficient abilities. Soon he began to send them out as undercover spies to the other nations. They gain valuable knowledge on the other villages from these missions but there was no real need for it at that time. As the years moved on new Guardians were chosen at the tournaments, keeping with the tradition of one guardian from each of the four main clans. Each generation seemed to have more potential than the last as they pushed each other to become more powerful and to better use their powers. Soon a rising star came along one of Torra’s own ANBU, Talma Kenko. She became Tortoise in 20AK and was known throughout the land for her healing abilities which she developed using the f
amilies signature water based Jutsu. Because he saw great hope for her future and much promise in her abilities Torra Uzzu named her as his successor when he stepped down from office in 30AK.
During the early part of her reign Torra stayed around as her advisor and teacher. Soon after her time in office started she established the Leaf Ninja Academy and the Hospital so they could better educate young ninja and medics. Then in 35AK when war broke out between Kumogakure and Sunagakure the Leaf Village had almost no choice but to join in, being in between the two countries much of the fighting took place in the Land of Fire. The Kage was greatly torn about what to do, to this point Konohagakure had done everything they could to keep the peace, but when news from one of the ANBU spies returned to the Hokage that Suna attacked Kumo her mind was made up, Konohagakure joined the side of Kumo. The once peaceful and calm leader quickly evolved into a military general, moving her troops around like the mastermind she was. Development in the city slowed during this time and the villagers began to grow restless and become unhappy with the Kage. They knew that what she did was to protect them but some thought she was going too far by crossing the borders of the Land of Fire; they thought they should only fight if it was on their land, as far as they were concerned helping Kumo was too involved in the war. Then in 60Ak old age and the pressure of the position finally got to her, she had fought the good fight but it was time to let someone else try their hand at the position.
This time the person for the job was none other than long time dragon Gino Sheru. He immediately starts to work on ending this horrible war, then in 66AK the Third Raikage was reelected and the two worked together to put a stop to this war. After the war the Kages gathered again and decided something had to be done to keep this from happening again. They decided to combine their Chunnin trials and to have a different land host them each time. In addition to this a tournament between he lands was to be started for all who were willing to try. It was a tournament to determine who the strongest Ninja in the whole world was. The tournament was held every two years and was a great success in keeping the peace. During this time peace returned and innovation resumed in the Leaf Village. The Clans were happy under the rule of their new Kage. Then at the tournament in 90AK held in the Leaf Village, disaster struck as all five of the Kages were attacked during the tournament. Only the Tsuchikagewas unscathed from the attack and many saw this as reason to blame the Village Hidden in the Rocks for the assignations and war once again broke out in the lands. Really though since it was never proved who ordered the attack there was distrust between all of the villages and the war turned to a massive free-for-all. After the assassination the new Hokage would rise from the ashes.
Kirigakure no Sato’s history has been wrought with nothing but dark and troubled times. Even before the dawn of its creation, the land was stained with the blood of innocents and murderers alike. War and death was a common thing that many had to learn to adapt and overcome, fighting to survive, fighting to come out on top. As fires raged through the desolate forests, many set on destroying and pillaging anything they could get their hands on from the small villages dotting the rather, isolated land. Fighting and killing one another over the most basic of human needs; land, resources, riches, and power.
It seemed like this way of living would continue on for ages. While other cities of large stature began to take form in the distant lands, it was only heard of as whispers, something you could only dare to dream of while you watched anything and everything precious to you; wiped out by the people you thought you could trust. They thought there time was through, like an hourglass nearly empty. Until one, one born of nothing, turned time a new. Starting a united revolution, to bring binding power to a center point.
Akira Omura son of a peasant, born in the blood of his parents having witnessed their murders for their land, he vowed to be become powerful; he vowed to become the end of this….great turmoil, which cost so much, for everyone. It is in this time of trying to find himself and grow stronger that he meets a band of mednin. A sort of rare breed of ninja’s, who have dedicated their lives to learning to heal, just as well as fighting like any other ninja out there. He took to them quick, feeding off their energy and will to change the chaotic world around them. So he pushed himself hard to learn their ways, his leadership skills far surpassing that of any on the group, quickly putting him up there in the ranks despite his low skill level as a ninja as a whole. But it did not matter; he had men to back him up. Men, that only grew in outrageous numbers as he marched from village to village; claiming that the time of sorrow and pain was over. That a new era was on the rise, a new era that was going to start with him; there would be no more killing, no more innocent bloodshed. Together they could create one of the largest villages the world would have ever seen, that the world will not be able to match with their increasing numbers of individuals, flocking to their noble cause; and thus became the start of change.
Relocating to the eastern part of Mizu no Kuni, Akira, leader of his people, began to set in motion the start of his revolution. Utilizing the dense mist as a cover for their future masterpiece; they began to build, build what soon became Kirigakure no Sato, village hidden in the Mist. With his very convincing, conniving ways; he began securing trade routes, missions, and anything that would help expand their boarders and power, leading his people down a dark path that would soon call for his death. For nothing he did or accomplished was ever enough. He wanted more…more power, more strength; Akira Omura named Shodai Mizukage, voted with the rank by the five great villages and his people, he did anything he could to establish his power. He pillaged and burned anything in his path, waging wars against small villages that stood no chance against him and the masses he had under his control.
After countless years of oppression and abuse of power, the people could not stand in silence any longer. In complete animosity, the villagers rallied together and marched to the doorsteps of the Shodai Mizukage commanding quarters. Without a fight they walked in and pulled him out for all to see and to be held for his crimes against his people. They put him on trial, everyone there was part of it, even his guards, and they did not care of what the council would say of this and what would happen. They wanted this to end here and now. The trial was swift and quick, in which he was beheaded. As a way to show that his time and rule was no longer playing any part in Kirigakure, they placed his head on a spike… to be left in the middle of the camp showing all who even thought about falling into his lead, betraying other villages, would meet the same end.
No less than a week after Shodai Mizukage’s death, the council had picked a new person they felt could lead them in the right way. Nidaime Mizukage, or known less formally as Hazuki Hitori; clan head of the Hazuki clan. Chosen for his high leadership skills and unique fighting techniques; Hitori served as a great Mizukage for the next fifteen years. His time however was not the easiest of times, his death leading into one of the bloodiest and gruesome civil wars known throughout the land. Being one of the few Kekkei Genkai clans located on Mizu no Kuni, it was very normal for rival clans to butt head’s. Claiming how unfair it was for one clan to hold so much power within the council, having its leader as the Mizukage. The civil banter back and forth lasted throughout Nidaime’s time as Kage, until it turned very ugly.
At the news of one of Fujiwara’s most promising clan member’s death, having been on a suicidal assassination mission. The Fujiwara’s head blamed Nidaime, claiming it to have been his plan to crush their clan and gain even more power. It turned into a full out war between the clans, each blaming the other for something neither had any sway to. And when the Nidaime was returning from visiting one of the nearby great village in its great time of need; war brewing in the horizon for the five great nations. The Fujiwara ambushed Nidaime’s security unit, slaying the Mizukage in cold blood, claiming to avenge their fallen brother…unleashing hell upon the land.
Returning to Kirigakure, the clan was betrayed by one of their own; unable to live with himself and the horrible deed he committed against his people. He went to the council with the news of Nidaime’s killers; full civil war broke out between the people and those who sided with the blind sighted clan. Innocent blood and countless lives were lost in what seemed to be a never-ending battle, which resulted in the total annihilation of the Fujiwara clan.
During this time of total chaos, the future Sandaime Mizukage stepped up to the council, claiming his right to attain the title that his late teammate had possessed. Fearful and unaware of the Sandaimes true intentions, they put him into power right away, giving him the ability to put a halting end to the civil war plaguing now his country. The battlefield on Kirigakure was filled with dead, composing bodies. Not having the man power to clean up what had been used as their war zone. He knew that it would not be good to continue in the now war torn village; so with the approval of the council, the village was moved into the center of Mizu no Kuni. Giving it more of a safe zone to work with, rather on the shoreline where an amphibious landing would be very possible.
Two years into wearing the blue hat and robe, he was quickly falling into the Shodai's footsteps. Having lost many of his warriors during the great time of sorrow (civil war), he dedicated most of their resources to train and raise powerful ninja. Dead set on making Kirigakure the ultimate power, the strongest of the five great nations. They deserved it, they would take the world, with him at its helm; and once the war began, Sato Koji knew it was the perfect time. Raising his army to profound heights, war began anew. It seemed that all Kirigakure was known for was their blood thirsty ways, or how intense they seemed to be against all who fought against them. They showed no mercy or quarter; if they battled, it was always to the death. While the war waged on between all of the super powers, the Sandaime began dealing with dark things that was kept at the lowest possible level. Just a few of the council members aware of the illegal happenings he was involved in. He turned to and paid ridiculous amount of money for missing ninja's and what few S-ranked criminals he could find. Using them to assassinate high ranking officials, and those who posed as risks to Kirigakure's victory in the war. It was under his reign, wanting to be the best in all, he established a group called the Seven Swordsmen Shinobi of the Mist. Their vast deadly swordsmanship that could rival any in the world. He even went to lengths of using s-ranked missing-nin to take the ranks, having no room for weak people to be in a group that would give way to Kirigakure's future power.
When it was their time to pass, the newer generation were taught their skills in hopes of getting a fighter worth the title of their respective blade. They were at the helm of every battle, completely taking any field, never bested. However at a crucial battle against one of the five nations, more than half of his nin were wiped out, betrayed by one of his associates who fled with one of the ancient blades. Everything began to go downhill for the older Mizukage, and in a moment of what he thought of as weakness. He came to the call of Kumogakure no Sato in one of their greatest times of needs; trying to secure the village as an ally to protect their way of life.
After helping Kumo through their plauge, it was not soon after during another assault against Yugakure no Sato leading to Konohagakure; Sandaime Mizukage was brutally killed in action. Having died against two of Konoha's most powerful s-ranked ninja, leading the two into a rather shaky relationship, and at the loss of yet another one of their leaders. The village for some time was at a complete loss of what to do. Plagued constantly with war and distrust, many felt like it was useless to continue; and yet with just one man's refusal, it was the only thing that saved Kirigakure.
During an important council meeting, only a handful of the most key head figures; Kirigakure was nearly disbanded and broken apart. Many unable to find some way to keep it's people together. Most of them giving up, too hard to find someone who could lead without greed in his heart. But after hours of intense deliberation the next Mizukage was chosen despite his passionate refusal; Hazuki Hiro, descendant of Nidaime Mizukage, was given the title of Yondaime. Of course with it's destructive history involving clans with bloodlines, the village was very leery of allowing another clan head to become the next leader. But overtime his popularity increased greatly at his true kindness along with his fine leadership skills. He seemed to be the first Mizukage in such a long time, where the opinions of the people, and their safety always came first. Doing his best to increase Kirigakure's defenses and number of shinobi in their army. Focusing on rebuilding what the last leader had destroyed, along with the enemies created during the great war. Hiro found it imperative to have allies rather than villages who despised, which would possibly lead to only more death...that was something he was not willing to pay for, just for power.
It went on like this for the next sixteen years, Kirigakure blossoming back into the powerful and true ways the village had meant to be based off. Innocently enough, he was not aware of the dark dealings the late Sandaime had been into until this time. Finding sealed scrolls within the Mizukage's s-classed files, hidden; he was dumbfounded. He was being betrayed and lied to by the people he trusted to make sound judgments when he could not. The village was being handled by what he could only call as criminals and it turned his blood cold. In complete anger, Yondaime set out on putting this information into the light, and those involved behind bars...or worse; having no room for people who betrayed their home.
Not realizing how deep the circle actually went, he is betrayed by a few of the old council members, afraid at the knowledge he now possessed; at how deep he was digging. He was found murdered at night, within the council chambers, his own blade shoved clean through his throat. Having been done by someone who had been close...someone he trusted. But he did not leave the world without leaving behind his legacy. Afraid of what could possibly happen with the information he found, he created his last will that went to his very close student he had trained what felt as such a long time ago. It gave the Jounin everything he had, the boy being like a son to him. He even expressed his deep wish for him to become the next Kage, feeling him to be just what the village needs.
With the news out in the open, the betrayers of the village, were swiftly executed. Along with it, the people putting the Sandaime's student, Kihaku Ryo into power as Godaime Mizukage. For ten years he was one of the greatest Mizukage's to date, and a decent father to future Rokudaime Mizukage, Kihaku Keiko. He did everything in his power to fall into his sensei's footsteps. Building the ever growing village to greater heights, establishing more secure trades and alliances with other countries. Providing protection to those too small to protect themselves, and just trying to do what's right.
He did his best to right what was wrong within his home. Trying to build Kirigakure to last any wars that would possibly await it in the future. Fearing the thought of losing anyone, which he refused, he began to focus entirely on securing it's future. So taking part in the usual five nations tournament, he began to attempt to build the bridges that had been destroyed during the wars. Only to be murdered by an unknown mercenary during the said tournament, sending Kirigakure into an utter state of panic. Their wonderful leader no more, and with no known replacement, or even an idea, sending it nearly into another civil war that would probably have left the village crippled or destroyed.
Both the people and the council fought heatedly over possible candidates, and those who deserved to receive the title. Not able to decide behind closed doors, it was decided to hold a mass debate with the village, held within the assembly hall where all was welcomed. The meeting turned quickly into pure chaos, all unable to come to a conclusive decision of who, until the next Mizukage stood to calm the people.
Iwagakure no Sato. One of the Five Great Shinobi Nations. In the humble opinion of the past Tsuchikages, Iwagakure is the strongest of the Five Great Shinobi Nations. A strong military based discipline has always been the standard with the village of stone, representing their rock hard will and indomitable determination. Because of the Military oriented mind of the leaders, Diplomacy is not the strong point of Iwagakure. The relations with the neighboring countries/villages could only be described as shaky at best. The Land of Fire's Leaf Shinobi and the Land of Wind's Sand Shinobi have both been enemies at one point in time leading to no favoritism among the Stone Shinobi for foreign ninjas.
There have been Three Tsuchikages before the current. Tsuchikages were appointed to lead Iwagakure until death, with the next in line being appointed by Iwagakure's War Council. A Tsuchikage was picked for his ability in battle and his leadership skills on the battlefield. Diplomatic traits were not taken into account. This was to be expected of Iwagakure seeing as their military oriented mindset had not failed them in the past. Iwagakure has never been invaded. Whether it be because of the natural stronghold like geography of Iwagakure or the strong militant leadership that took no chances, Iwagakure was and always will be a factor in any Shinobi war.
The founding of Iwagakure started with a man who would later be known as the First Tsuchikage. Souritsu Kazu. The only known Metal Release user in the history of the Stone. This man, appointed by his clan, halted the nomadic behavior of his clan and made an executive decision to settle within what appeared to be a natural fort formation. This was the beginning of Iwagakure. Blessed with natural defenses that made the small settlement nearly impregnable, Kazu would begin to enforce strict martial discipline within his clan to ensure they would never take their blessing for granted. Within the settlement, the small village would prosper. With prosperity would come those who covet that prosperity. Soon after word of the Souritsu clan's fortune spread, innumerable waves of bandits would plague the village. Under the command of Kazu, however, the Souritsu clan would remain undaunted and seemingly unaffected like the cliffside that effortlessly breaks wave after wave of the ocean waters. Word of Kazu's great leadership and undefeated army would spread throughout what would later be known as the Land of Earth. Many a clan would approach the Souritsu, seeking permission to enter in that impregnable fortress. Kazu, being a wise man, accepted all clans and formed the Village of Stone. He would soon be appointed Tsuchikage not only by his clan, but by the whole village.
Iwagakure would have prosperity and happiness among its people. However, a strange beast would soon appear in the region, harassing the village whenever possible. Kazu knew he could not sit idly nor did he desire to. The village was founded on the basis that everyone within its walls would be safe from harm. Kazu planned to keep true to that basis. With a small band of Shinobi, Kazu set out to defeat the monster. Days later, a small boy would return to Iwagakure. Crying and half naked, the guards of Iwagakure were concerned at a lone boy wandering the countryside while the foul beast was on the loose. They took the boy into the village and presented him to the council, who questioned him of his origins. The boy claimed to not remember anything except witnessing a battle between a Golden Haired man along with his companions who were garbed in the same manner as the guards and a giant Feline that had two tails. The boy related his story that they were locked in a fierce battle and eventually the Feline would prevail against the men although gravely injured. The council was dismayed at this news but were curious about the closing thoughts of the young boy. The last thing the boy remembered was the giant Feline looked to him and pounced upon him. Before he knew it, the only memory after that would be finding the gates of Iwagakure. Somewhat disturbed that the First Tsuchikage had fallen against the feline yet the boy had survived, only coming out with what seemed to be claw marks along the chest, the Iwa Council put the boy under special care of the Sudeki clan.
A new era was beginning for Iwagakure, A race started among the village to choose the new Tsuchikage. Much pressure was put upon Iwagakure's council as a war within Iwagakure could erupt over who should control the village. The Souritsu had its claim to leadership and no longer wished to lead having lost their most valuable Kazu in battle. Soon the Second would be chosen.
His name was Minami Daijiro. Daijiro was a formidable shinobi and a rare one at that as well. While he did not possess a bloodline limit like the First, he did achieve mastery of three of the five chakra natures. Daijiro was a talented Fire, Wind and Earth ninjutsu specialist however it is said that Daijiro was also able to use Lightning and Water. Daijiro would become known throughout the village for his love for war. Instead of simply protecting his own village, he began to accept requests from outsiders which effectively led to the formation of Ninja Ranks within Iwagakure. Ninja ranks would determine which shinobi were fit to carry out which jobs. Low level ninja were practically useless to Daijiro as the majority of requests entailed a high likelihood of skirmishes and battles. Often Daijiro would personally take on any high profile Assassination missions. His reign would be shortlived and Daijiro himself knew this. He was married to the temptress known as Risk and he did not stay himself from indulging in her. Before he had passed in the line of duty, Daijiro left behind a number of gifts to Iwagakure. The first and probably most important was the appointing of a successor, the Third Tsuchikage. The boy who had stumbled upon the village many years ago with a terrible story had proved himself to be an adept shinobi and gained the respect of the Second. The Second also believed the boy had much unlocked potential and could not doubt the ability of someone who had survived an encounter with the two tailed Feline. The second gift was a secret technique that would only be taught to those the Tsuchikage thought fit. A camoflouage technique that the Second himself relied on in the most dire of situations. The scroll resides within the Tsuchikage's office (which since has been moved during the reign of Yondaime Tsucikage Nikui Ishi or Ark.) The third gift left behind by the Second was merely a legend. The legend had it that the Second Tsuchikage, with his mastery of the different chakra natures, had discovered a terrifying form of Ninjutsu: Magnetic Release. It is said that one would need mastery over both the elements of Lightning and Earth. Due to this fact, the Second was never able to master Magnetic release because of his lack of expertise with Lightning Release. Because he himself, a great Ninjutsu Technician, could not perfect Magnetic release he decided to keep it a secret from the village. It is said the scrolls of his research on Magnetic Release were hidden among the ruins of his ancestors, a tomb that existed long before the formation of Iwagakure in the Land of Fire. With these gifts left behind by the Second, Iwagakure ventured forth into a new age where Sudeki Tenchi ruled as the Third.
Tenchi, Third Tsuchikage, was a benevolent ruler despite his harsh times on the plains of the Land of Earth. As previously stated, he was a wandering child before witnessing the battle between Kazu's men and the two tailed Feline. When he was taken in by Iwagakure and raised among the Sudeki, he learned two things that would forever be in his heart. Determination and Honor. His first act as Tsuchikage would be to honor the Tsuchikages of the past by building the Kage Memorial. An iron lifesize statue of Souritsu Kazu and a Stone monument with Minami Daijiro's likeness would be constructed. In actuality, the statue of Souritsu Kazu came from outside the village, which brought suspicion among the people. Nonetheless, the monuments would be greatly appreciated and revered among Iwa. Unfortunately during his time as Tsuchikage, tensions were at an all time high between Iwagakure and its rival villages of Sunagakure and Konohagakure. A five way war would break out including the villages of Kumogakure and Kirigakure among Iwa's rivals. Being the Tsuchikage, Tenchi had to uphold the traditions of Iwagakure and its strong military discipline. He led his troops into battle against Konoha and Suna, the two Villages bordering the Land of Earth. Not only was Tenchi a brilliant tactician but also held a secret power he would soon discover. He was the host of the Two Tails. Iwa would make pushes into enemy lands, faring well in the beginning of the war. The war would last an abnormally long time however, causing the forces of Iwa to be pushed back to their own borders. During this time, while out in the field, Tenchi would receive an injury that would make it difficult for him to maintain control over the two tailed Feline. With concern for his village's safety in mind, the Third ordered that a new host be prepared. The village council was reluctant to agree, as the sealing process would kill the Third. Tenchi himself was ready to die, already having experienced too much grief as he had outlived his own son. (His son died in battle.) Before going through with the process to maintain safety within the village, Tenchi both continued to lead the Iwa army from the homefront and appointed a Fourth Tsuchikage, an apprentice of his late son who bore many similar qualities. As the war drew to an armistice, the Third decided it was time. The council extracted the entity from his body and sealed it in another. A child.
The first nomadic tribes reached the land of lightning in the pursuit of food, water, and shelter. Many of the first groups died out in the harsh conditions of the mountains, and due to the harsh weather patterns of Tsugini Warui. Time passed, and more nomads traveled into the mountainous region, only one eighth of all new clans surviving. Many groups began to record the timing of the fierce climate changes, and also began settling down into villages. This was the First Golden Age of Old.
During the First Golden Age of Old, a civilization was born and knowledge of the lands true nature was discovered. The few members of the tribes and clans that survived the natural barriers that were so prominent in the region began to group together, mixing the culture of all the lands they had come from into a new society, consequentially creating new traditions and social patterns that we now attribute to all people within the region. As the people began together together they also began to share their knowledge creating a Renaissance of new thought and ideas. One such study was based primarily around the seemingly spontaneous climate. Throughout the country there was no record of a time before the bipolar nature of the weather, but rather it seemed to be something that had ravaged the region before humans had even settled it. As communities studied the phenomenon more and more, they discovered that there was a definite pattern to the mayhem. The cycle, as far as most can tell, lasts a total of twelve years. For the first seven years, all is well. There is a surplus of both animals and plants, and it seems that natural resources like timber, water, ore, and precious metals and jewels are all more plentiful, or at the very least easier to find. During the next five years however, the exact opposite is true. Animals and plants either die out or snap into a survive at all cost mode. Animals that were once friendly become hateful lashing out at anyone who threatens their survival, and preying on the weak. Likewise, plants shift to a carnivorous nature, adopting a "ill eat you if you try to eat me" policy. Natural resources also appear to go into hiding, as they shrink, dwindle, and all around retract from those seeking to utilize them. At the end of the twelve years, it repeats, going good, to bad, to good again. Fortunately the people learned about this pattern, thus the never underestimated its power again.
Years went by, and all seemed at peace, however, following the model of Tsugini Warui things went from good and well, to bad and worse. As villages began to expand their boundaries, and claim new territories, the inevitable happened, War. This battle did not begin, like most, in a central location and then spread out as if one threw a stone into a pond. Rather, like the first drops of a brewing storm, the disputes were random, nonuniform, scattered. Due to the fact that there was no central form of leadership throughout the nation, this fighting lasted for hundreds of years. Clans would go into battle against one another, one would stand victorious, and in its celebration, a third would blind side them into oblivion. Other times, a single clan would devastate an entire region then proclaim their sovereignty over it, only to have an uprising of smaller clans work in coalition in order to usurp the larger one. Treaties were made and broken, Feuds began and ended, and streams of blood ran parallel to natural rivers. As time passed, the clans began to develop their ability to fight, slowly at first, they learned how to harness the natural energy that flowed around them and use it to strike killing blows against their neighbors. As the use of this natural energy, or chakra increased, so did the devastating effects of battle. Clans began to develop their own form of Chakra usage in order to benefit themselves better. Most took the elements closest to them, and learned a special control over that element. years passed, and soon the hundreds of thousands of villages that had once ensued the mountainous region had dwindled down to less than one hundred, strong independent groups, each more than capable of defending themselves from the other groups, and each with their very own survival techniques. two of the larger, more prominent villages soon found themselves in what would end up being the last of the great feuds. They agreed to meet for the last time, and choose a locatio
n for a fight to the death. the rules of engagement were this: all men and women will fight to The death, children who had not seen a full cycle of Tsugini Warui would bend to the will of the winner, and no allies involved, only the two main clans would be involved. The two clans met on that fateful day on the tallest mountain inside of the entire world. Battle commenced and lasted for eight whole days of non stop fighting. on the ninth day, both clans made the decision that they would unleash their most powerful attack on the other, and end the feud once and for all. The nature of the attacks used on the mountain that day are said to be lost arts that are best left with those who died that day, but one thing is certain, both clans succeeded in obliterating their opponent. The attacks hit at the same time with such a force that the mountain began to rupture violently. No village in the world would have thought that the mountain they were battling on was not the largest mountain in the world, but rather the largest volcano in the world. The volcano erupted for three days straight Incinerating everything within 100 miles. On the last day of the disaster,twelve days after the prideful clans had started their foolish endeavor, one of the greatest evils known to mankind was released, Yonbi.
Born in the depths of the volcano, The four-tailed Demon Ape Yonbi was an organic machine of death. Within a single year of his release from the womb of the volcano, Yonbi had already successfully destroyed seventy- five of the last one-hundred main villages. A single village had no chance against this beast, and five villages would only slow him down temporarily. Borzuma, of the Inazuma tribe took matters into his own hands, and sent the fastest men of Inazuma to each of the twenty five remaining prominent villages in the land and requested a summit on how to deal with Yonbi. Due to the many disputes among the group, five of the clans elected not to join the summit, each of those clans were unfortunately demolished by Yonbi there after. As representatives, and occasionally whole villages finally had all gathered together, they quickly began to discuss the issue at hand. after almost a week of debate, it was decided that the villages would all confront Yonbi head on in battle, and they elected Borzuma to lead the assault. The villages all came on the top of an isolated plateau, then focused enough chakra to make Yonbi notice their presence and seek them out next. The twenty villages, under the leadership of Borzuma stood tall as Yonbi, the four-tailed Demon Monkey faced them in battle. The battle lasted a full month of nonstop fighting and in the end only six clans were left standing over the Barren Buttes that had once been a magnificent Plateau. Yonbi lay at the six clans feet, completely out of the strength or chakra necessary to fight. The clans however could not destroy the Demon, thus they choose to seal it away inside of a human. Borzuma decided that they would seal it inside of him for he was not taxed by the thought that the integration process could kill him. The clans pulled all of their knowledge and created a new type of seal that required six individuals to pull off. this six pronged seal allows complete two way chakra flow between Yonbi and his Jinchu riki. Due to the nature of Yonbi's defeat, he is perfectly acceptance of his home as long as one of the representatives from the six clans who sealed him away always take apart in his transfer to a new host. Because of this, the six surviving clans built a village together. this village would become the epicenter of the land of lightning.
Shortly after the Defeat of Yonbi, the regions of the world called for a meeting of leaders so they could officially conduct business with one another. Borzuma, the man who had united the clans, and his hand selected entourage journeyed to this fateful meeting. Upon his return he instructed the Clans on exactly what had happened. It seemed that after much discussion Five Main regions were created, and one representative was elected to Lead the nation they derived from. Borzuma continued to reveal the fact that the village that had been created in the wake of the war against the demon ape had been selected to be the main village of the Region. He told of how they were now known as the Land of lightning, and that the other Lands were Fire, Water, Earth, and Wind. Each representing an element in the great cycle. It was then decided my unanimous vote by the village that they name the village Kumogakure, or Village Hidden in the Clouds as lightning hides within the cloud before striking. A counsel was held by the elders to decide the best way to select the man or woman to lead the nation. It was decided that they would vote every twelve years after Tsugini Warui had passed in order to choose the best leader. the leader would also choose a successor in case of serious injury or death. Borzuma was selected as the first of said leaders later to be known as Raikage, and with the beginning of his term began the Time of the Kage's.
Borzuma's term as Raikage went as perfect as one could expect with a new government. He set up the concept of consume half, save half which stood for nearly half a century. This concept was very easy, and worked in almost every way. If a family of farmers brought in one-hundred bales of hay then fifty of the bales would be used during that year, and the rest would be saved for the Years of Want. Only weeks after they began this policy there was no room left in the land for the people of Kumogakure to store their produce. Borzuma fixed this problem in only three days as he had the Yongan, their clans ability was to manipulate and create Lava, carve out the inner caverns of the mountain that Kumogakure was built upon. This gave the city the ability to Store and hide all of the Goods meant for the years of want. He had also implemented the plan to conceal the bijuu away in a volunteering shinobi, they would become the jinchuuriki of Kumogakure.
Kumo went to war with Sunagakure drawing Konoha into the mix as war raged through their lands. The war would end in a peace summit being called for. All Kages began to spin ideas of how to better allign and promote piece throughout their villages. Thus the Tournament of Legends was born and it was there the second Raikage was murdered calling for a new Raikage to take the mantle. The third Raikage would later step down after enduring the war over the assassinations that took place at the previous tournament of legends. The village would call for a new Raikage, and they would get one.
