you've inspired me to play pokemon diamond or maybe black again,
question tho! what made you want to train all these mons on these older gens?
do you have a goal? are you going to move them to newer gens?
edit: also i wanna say i love how much love and care you put into your mon! thats why i asked! it reminded me of my time with these games and how muchh i loved my pokemon
I'm glad you feel inspired to play an older game.

There are a few reasons I like playing the old games. First off, I don't own a 3DS or a Switch. If I owned a Switch, I would probably sprinkle in Pokemon Snap, Legends Arceus, and Let'I l. And I'd try to play any newly released Pokemon game at least once. If I owned a 3DS, I would play all of those titles happily. I want to get a copy of Black 2 and White 2 eventually too. I never owned them and I only played through Black once. (There are tons of shiny hunts to do on those games). I was just at the age where I thought I grew out of Pokemon when Black/White came out. But then, around 2013, shiny hunting exploded on Youtube and I was hooked back into playing.
The problem with the new games is that you can change the nature and IVs of a Pokemon. Meaning, I could catch any Pokemon I want and turn it into it's best version. That's not necessary a bad thing but it does take away from the grind of catching something better.
I have no intention of transferring any of these Pokemon to newer games. One of the reasons I started this grind was to make a singles team for Battle Tower. Beating 100 trainers in a row is my last star for my Trainer card. My goal is to eventually do that. It's really time consuming and slow to beat 100 trainers in a row though so I've put it off for a long time. I've had win streaks around 40 a few times now and I get discouraged when I lose. (It takes 3-4 hours to get that far, playing safe). It just means I still have stuff to learn. Mostly, I think I have to actually know the trainers and what Pokemon they use and what moves they have. Which I can look up at any moment but it's still not something I want to do just yet.
Yes, I cherish my Pokemon A LOT. I have this fantasy in my head that someone will see my save one day and it will bring them joy.
P.S. Thank you for posting. I love talking about Pokemon.
I decided to play diamond as well and have been loving it! Caught a murkrow whos become my best bud, after I caught him while in the hospital. I managed to grab BW and BW2 before they skyrocket, but almost missed them during my "thinking i had grown out of pokemon" phase as well.
BW was a strange time, since the games and anime and mangas sort of grew up with the players. Despite ash being forever young.
I love channels that detail the older games, still hunting for shinies or doing battles in them. I plan to do similar 100% completion type stuff after seeing this thread. Everytime I drift away, the next time I play pokemon I get pulled deeper in.
Some reason I can't get as into newer games though, I enjoy the grind a lot.
I love seeing save files, especially videos where the save is maxed out at 999:59
so much cool stuff and love in that journey. Currently playing diamond , emerald and heartgold, simultaenously on and off. almost broke my ds when i fell asleep i was panicked lol.
sorry for taking up your thread/record! feel free to message me i'd love to talk about pokemon,
