I tend to give my HM slaves less than desirable names, like my Geodude, Chunks, or my Golduck, DeButtz.

However, my HeartGold team had a nice theme going for it, or at least I thought so:

Meganium: Dolcissimo (means sweet)
Donphan: Fiertando (play on Fiermente, which means proud)
Dodrio: MezzoForte
Arcanine: Scherzando (playfully)
Lanturn: Luminoso (Light)
Absol: Crisis

Torch, my deceased Infernape (male) (because someone delete my platinum game and my emulator). I called him like that because my firts game was rubi and my first pokemon was torchic.

Luna, my Espeon (female, BTW Luna mean "moon" in Spanish).

Eve, my shiny Leafeon (female, deceased).

Mugetsu, my Absol (female, Mugetsu means "without moon" or "sky without moon" in japanese).

And Lucy, my Lucario (yes, a females too, I was pretty lucky ^^, I miss you T-T, yeah, she's dead too).

I would name Lucario "Bones" but that's just me since he is a dog.
