It appears Gaia DID make changes to the Marketplace sorters. Not to everyone's liking because all sorters apply to all items but I am THRILLED.
Edit: August 21st, 2009: They've changed it so that only Game Items have Unit Price - Thank You Gaia!

First, how many of you Marketplace questers/buyers/sellers feel like you just aren't finding the deals you deserve or getting your deals sold to other Gaians?
I'd like for Gaia to add "Item By Number" and "Price Per Item" and/or "Bid Per Item" as sorters on the Marketplace because I find that total price per item (such as Game Items) does not guarantee an equal or less than amount of that item.
For example, I was questing Blue Daisies and was searching for larger bundles. I would find them by reading the price per item number (the one on the right side of the slash mark of Buy Now) because some sellers were selling, say 50 daisies, for 1000 gold; meaning that while it was a good amount, it was far too overpriced.
The price per item is not in its own sort code, it is stuck to the Buy Now Price, so it means scrolling through page after page with hundreds of listings as if there is no sorting.
Second, I think that if there was a Price Per Item and an Item By Number sorter, it would be very helpful for people trying to:
1. Find certain numbers of a multiplied item,
2. Stay within a certain price per item range (i.e. 0.01g-0.3g as I did with my quest), or
3. Simply sell their stuff
Third, nowadays when someone places a Game Item up for sell, they enter the quantity. All that would need to happen to place this as a separate sorter is a code to accept the quantity as its own sorter, like the Buy Now price. The Price Per Item sorter would work similarly but only to split the Buy Now price apart from it.
Finally, there is definitely room on the header for one or two or even three more sorters, and even if the item is not a Game Item it will not matter. The sorter will still show the Price Per Item but as the Buy Now Price, and Item By Number as 1. Or better yet, they could make it just for Game Items/items sold in multiples.
This idea of fitting the sorters to the item already is shown through the Buy Now price of non-Game items - notice there is no price per item included?
It wouldn't impact anyone, it would only aim to help sell multiplied items that usually flood the MP. Tokens have the highest number of listings on the MP - people just aren't finding good deals fast enough!
I specify tickets/tokens because ticket/token buyers and sellers seem to be the most annoyed without this sorter. But even people who wouldn't use it seem to see the benefit for others having it.
Here are some examples I received of issues with the current set-up as well as support:

I don't buy bulk items (as I'm just not interested in them), but normally I sell in bulk. I save up tokens and sell them in bulk (example, 100 tokens for 60 gold), but since it isn't on the front page of 1 gold two tokens, I am S.O.L. even WITH a low price. And since I know people are missing on decent deals because of this, I sign this petition to show my support.

as other have said: this is the exact reason I don't sell my game items on the marketplace, it's just impossible to get a good reading on bundle prices.

Because anyone should be able to find 100 of the same item for say...150 gold, before 1 of that item for 3 gold. Seriously. It would benefit both buyers and sellers, and it would ensure that selling a single item for more than average per doesn't pay off.
I am very upset with the current marketplace for this reason, so I hope this is implimented more than anything else.

I look at tickets to try and buy some.
Maybe people are selling them at different prices
and this would be useful to see what is at the normal
rate. Other wise people could pay like 15g per ticket
while others 2g.

serisously what the hell is gaia doing with all the money i donate ... they have time to do crap like the mtv hills thing but dont have time to fix the basic things that would make gaia way better in fact their new market system is kinda a step down from the old one i mean yeah it has more features but guess what i dont use most of them i liked the old MP but they could fix my opinion with better searches :]

yeah, I've shopped for tickets before, and it's annoying to have to dig through page after page trying to find good deals where you're not getting like, 3 tickets. Additionally, as a seller of large quantities of tickets (occasionally) for a good price, I find my tickets don't sell very fast because it's hard for people to find them and realize that it's a good deal, unless they wade through page after page of tickets that are way overpriced.

Yes yes PLEASE! I once spent about 2 hours searching for tickets and I had to wade threw page after page of 1 ticket offers ranging from 1g to 100000000000000000000000g. I would love to see this coded in the future. heart

I sign! It's so annoying going through pages and pages to find decently priced tokens and tickets, and I imagine it takes forever for people to find what you sell -- I sell all my tickets in the Exchange. ^_^
