I awoke in the night
To a sound, maybe sight
Perhaps I'd opened my eyes
A little too soon to see
What I had been
Waiting for impatiently
I try to sleep again,
The adrenaline flows right in
As soon as I close my eyes
My mind is astray and askew
All my thoughts are of you
And the memory of that night

That kiss, when our lips took flight
The dance, the whole floor alight
That same alluring look in your eyes
To dream it again, again and again
It would be bliss, but fate not a friend,
The dreams don't come to me tonight

The waiting is killing me
Insomnia willing me
To travel onward to nigh

You're so close yet so far
Like a dream, almost a scar
But this ones my favourite kind
Unspoken, but known
My will, overthrown
With nothing but you in foresight
