What influences you the most in deciding which kin to level?

I had a non-kokeshi kin that was able to put the enemy to sleep with regular magic attacks, they might have changed it... but it was one of the newer ones... Chime or Spirited Ember or something I think.

For the record, Sakura Fluff does this. I don't think I've ever had it happen with Spirited Ember, though I've had my Spirited Ember longer (still leveling my Sakura - it's only at 22). Don't have Chime (yet!) so no idea if it also does this.

I really like that little detail, and wish it worked with poison type enemies. Makes sense, for instance, that a Grunny could poison you just with a regular attack or some such...

I agree, though, that would be a nice feature with Poison, and it would make a lot of sense.

No prob - also, naturally after posting this, last night I had my finger slip while using Spirited Ember and discovered that it too can put things to sleep with a normal magic attack. A 30ish Sycamorte, in fact.

I suspect I never saw this happen before because it just didn't happen to do it before I acquired Diamond Scratch - and basically once you get Diamond Scratch, when do you ever use regular magic attacks with Spirited Ember again? XD Like I said, I only did it because I was aiming for the "skills" button, but not feeling well and using a touchpad, so I missed and hit the "magic" button instead.

i don't think i'm at a high enough level for the blond colored ones (i'm assuming the wealthy) but i aim for that as well!

cute and darned impossible to fund for unless you're like a Super Fab Artist.

Yeah, the Wealthy ones are gold-colored. I guess they're pretty rare unfortunately. I like the color red better, though. xD

And I am definitely not an artist. OTL Unless I find people who want to pay a ton of gold for stick figures or hand turkeys, lol.

Ooo, thank you for letting me know! And agreed, once my kin get skills, I use those almost exclusively, so I never really investigated the base effects of magic attacks on higher level kin.

The new kins appear to have okayish stats...but high MP cost skills that hit REALLY HARD. Needs more research.

I would also agree with this. Dizzy Cut sucks but Psychosis, even at level 8, deals 80 damage.
