        Welcome to Gold Galore!
This thread is a guide on how to grind on Lake Kindred. Lake Kindred is a cute moga game where you collect Kindreds, small pets that you use to battle other Kindreds. You're able to earn rewards by playing, and many people use it as a source of gold and items!

quick update: uhh kinda lost interest in gaia oops, still popping in sporadically but if you want to see any updates let me know in a PM

              But I Don't Have Gold!
Don't worry about that! It's true many Kindreds are expensive, but there are also some that are under a billion and can still farm for RIGs or Sycamortes. Along with this, there are plenty of giveaways and contests where you can get good Kindreds.
There are also rental threads where you can borrow level 50 Kindreds to earn gold for your own. I've listed some threads in the Helpful Links section.

              This Guide is for You
I made this to help users. That means if you have a question, you can always ask it on this thread. I won't bite your head off if it's already answered here! I hope you find this thread helpful.

        FAQ
              What's the best Kindred?
There is no Kindred that trumps all others. It depends on what you want. Sakura Pegacorn Fluff if you want high accuracy and high health with less damage, Watermeat if you want very high damage output, or Ambitious/Starlit Tyrant Fafnir if you want good health and good damage.

What's the "verify yourself" "avatar Captcha" "pick an item" screen?
              User Image
This is what it looks like. This is a Captcha that Gaia gives you every couple of battles to verify that you are not a bot.
What you have to do is look at the avatar to the left, and pick an item that is on it from the selection to the right.
You will not receive the item you picked as a reward.
Failing this too many times leads to you being banned for 30 minutes.

              What are amulets?
Amulets are items that can be equipped to your Kin to improve its stats. The most common stat on Amulets are Exp against Element. This means your Kin will earn extra Exp against Kins with certain Elements. Kindred Elements Guide goes over how to figure out what Element a Kin is.
A lot of the stats on Amulets are considered useless. These include Exp against Element, Experience, Magic, Stamina, and Stamina Regen. Note that Magic does not increase the damage of your skills or magic attack. It increases how many Magic Points your Kin has at the start of battle.
Below are the "useful" stats on Amulets, what shape Amulet they are found on, and the percentages they can be.

              Diamond Amulet
              Common: Gold Find 1%-4%
              Rare: Gold Find 4%-7%

              Square Amulet
              Common: Accuracy/Damage 1%-4%
              Rare: Accuracy/Damage 4%-7%

              Circle Amulet
              Common: Life/Resist 1%/4%
              Rare: Life/Resist 4%-7%

Gold Find increases how much gold you'll recieve as a reward. If you'd normally earn 1 billion gold from a Sycamorte, and you equipped a 7% gold find amulet on your Kin, then you'd instead win 1,070,000,000 gold.
The higher Resist your kin has, the less your Kin will be afflicted with status ailments.

Note that how amulets affect your Kins stats follow this formula: Base Stat + (Base Stat*Percentage). For example, if your Kin has 90% resist and you equip a 10% resist amulet to it, it would have 90 + (90*0.1) = 99 resist after.

              What do these mean?
User ImageUser ImageUser ImageUser ImageUser Image
These are status effect symbols. The first one (light blue flame) is wither, the second (pink spiral) is confusion, the third (yellow lightning bolt) is paralyze, the fourth (blue moon) is sleep, and the fifth (purple skull) is poison.

Wither causes your Kindred to lose additional Magic Points during battle. This can be cured using a Refresh.

Confusion causes your Kindred to randomly choose actions on your turn. Your Kindred can attack itself if confused. There is no cure for this except waiting it out, or if your Kindred defeats the opposing Kindred.

Paralyze causes your Kindred to miss two of its turns. There is no cure for this except waiting it out.

Sleep causes the same thing as Paralyze.

Poison causes your Kindred to take additional damage at the start of your turn. This can be cured by using an Antidote. Poisons carry over battles, but you can wait them out until the Poison status disappears.

              Why is my Kindred soulbound?
This is usually because you have an Amulet equipped on your Kindred. Unequip the Amulet and your Kindred will no longer be soulbound. Another reason is that the Kindred is your starter. Starter Kindreds are soulbound.

What sockets are recommended for Watermeat, Ambitious Tyrant Fafnir, and Sakura?

              Cresolae
If we're talking strictly regular sycamorte trees:

Sakura: DDD or DDS; maybe SSS or SSD
              - DDD for flat gold % increase
              - DDS for the extra damage increase. Sometimes going against higher leveled Sycamorte trees require a 4th hit; adding a 7% damage amulet helps you get more 3-shots than 4. DD for the gold, ofc.
              - SSS & SSD: ensures 3-shots on regular trees. Usually 1 or 2 squares with added damage is enough for a 3-shot, so you could swap them out for a Diamond if you want.

Watermeat: SSD, SSS, SSC, SS, DDS, DDD
              - SSD: for 100% accuracy + 7% gold
              - SSS & SS: for 100% accuracy
              - SSC: for 100% accuracy, 7% life -- Less chance of being one-shotted (though oftentimes you won't be one-shotted anyways).
              - DDS: for 96% accuracy, 14% gold; always good to have a bit of added accuracy to watermeat. 90% misses more often than you think, especially if you farm over the hour.
              - DDD: flat gold % increase; I usually won't recommend this because of the base 90% accuracy watermeats have.

Ambitious Tyrant Fafnir: SSS, DDD, CCC
Currently, it is said that the strongest attack does "1332HP-1701HP." Against regular trees, this would mean either 2 or 3 hits most of the time.
              - SSS: has 90% base accuracy--could add accuracy for 100%. Could also just pile on a bunch of damage amulets (+21% with rare amulets) so that you could two-shot regular trees more often than 3.
              - DDD: flat gold %
              - CCC: 1022 health, 90% accuracy, 2-3 shot regular trees.

Starlit Tyrant Fafnir: SSS, DDD, CCC
Strongest attack does "1360HP-1575HP." You'd usually be 3-shotting with this damage range.
              - SSS: also has 90% base accuracy. I'd add 21% dmg instead so that you could two-shot.
              - DDD: flat gold %
              - CCC: 1024 health, 90% accuracy, 2-3 shot regular trees.

When should I use platinum mode versus gold mode?
When you receive a plat drop, it will be a minimum of 1 plat (10 million gold). Plat rewards will also be soft-capped if you earn a lot of plat throughout the day. This cap resets every day. Once you reach the soft-cap, which general consensus says is 500 plat (5 billion gold), you will only receive 1 plat as a reward instead of the "normal" drop.

Gold drops tend to be in the thousands in LK. A couple of areas have worthwhile gold drops. Gold does not have a cap.

Use gold mode when you're farming in Stage 4-5 Kindred Wilds (100m gold drops, 1b-2b gold drops from Sycamortes), or Stage 5 Milky Way (100m gold drops).

Use plat mode when you're farming anywhere else.

You can change between gold or plat mode in settings under My Gaia.

        Terms and Vocabulary
There are lots of terms that experienced members use. However, for new users, these can be confusing and interfere with your learning. Here, I put a breakdown of what some of the commonly used vocab means.

              █████████████████████

              Kin: Kindred
              Pots: Potions
Trees: Sycamortes found in stage 4 or 5 of Kindred Wilds. Comes in two variations: the original (pink and white), and Phantom Sycamortes (grey and blue).
Phantoms have much higher HP than the original Sycamorte.
Tree-killers: Kindreds that can kill Sycamortes without the use of too many potions.
Tree-killing: Repeatedly killing Sycamortes in hopes for their 1 billion or 2 billion gold drops.
RIG farming: Repeatedly killing all enemies in hopes for Random Item Generators to sell or open.

        Basics

This section is for people who have never touched Lake Kindred before, or who don't understand some mechanics of the game.
              Warning: Image Heavy!
              User Image
You've started Lake Kindred, and you're encountered by this screen. This is the selection of Starter Kindreds the game offers you. Choose whichever one you want; it does not matter in the long run.

              User Image
After you've chosen your starter, you will enter the home screen. Here, you will see the Kindreds on your team that you will take into battle. You can have up to 5 Kindreds on your team. Make sure to click on them each day; they will have a gift for you.

              User Image
If you click on My Kins on the top, you will see the Kindreds you currently own. Below is what each labelled section means.

              1. Your Kindred's level. It can range from 1 to 50. Each level your Kindred will grow stronger.
              2. Your Kindred's radiance. This is equivalent to your Kindred's gender. This is only useful for splicing. Kindred Splicing Guide has more information on splicing.
              3. Your Kindred's stamina. You will lose 1 stamina point every time you win a fight. If you lose, you lose more stamina points. Once your Kindred's stamina reaches 0, your Kindred will be unable to enter another fight. Click on the Sleep button to regain stamina over a period of time.
              4. Your Kindred's Ally Points. You earn ally points equal to the level that your Kindred fought. When your Kindred reaches the second number, your Kindred will level up. Your Kindred's stats will improve with each level up.
              5. The rarity of your Kindred. The higher the number, the more rare your Kindred is. This is not an indication of good stats, however.
              6. Your Kindred's life. Pretty self explanatory.
              7. Your Kindred's magic. This is how many Magic Points your Kindred has at the start of battle. Magic Points are used when using the Magic Attack button, or Skills. Note that magic amulets only increase the amount of Magic Points your kindred has, not the damage of skills or Magic Attacks.
              8. Your Kindred's damage. Pretty self explanatory. Note that damage amulets increase all attacks, including magic attacks.
              9. Your Kindred's resist. This is the chance your Kindred will not get inflicted by a status effect. The higher the number, the less you'll be inflicted. This does not decrease damage done by enemy Kindreds.
              10. Your Kindred's accuracy. This is the chance that your Kindred's attacks will hit. The higher the number, the more likely the attack will hit.
              11. The Sleep button. This is used to put your Kindred to sleep, which replenishes Stamina.
              12. This removes your Kindred from your party. You can hold up to 5 Kindreds on your party. If a Kindred is not on your party, you will be unable to select it for battle.
              13. The Evolve button. This will evolve your Kindred when its level reaches a certain point. More information can be found in the Kin Level Rewards Guide.
              14. This will put your Kindred behind your avatar on the forums as a moving gif.
              15. This will release your Kindred into the wilderness. This is effectively a delete button. Only use it if you're sure you don't want your Kindred anymore.
              16. These are your skill points. This is not affected by the Kindred you use. The higher your skill level, the more areas you can unlock. All areas are accessible at level 21. You also receive rewards at each level up.

Head back to the Home Screen, and click Explore. What will pop up is different areas.

              User Image
I chose to fight in Lake Kindred, because it is an easy area. When you get better Kindreds, check out other areas for better rewards.

              User Image
Here are the different stages of the area. Each stage has different ranges of leveled Kindreds. Higher stages means Kindreds with higher levels. In general, each area will have the same Kindreds in all stages. There are exceptions, such as BOSS Kindreds. Click on an area to go into battle.

              User Image
Here is the selection screen. Click on the Kindred you want to use for the battle. You also get a preview of the enemy Kindred.

              User Image
This is what the battle screen looks like. Click Attack to attack the enemy Kindred. Keep on doing this until the enemy Kindred's life goes down to zero. Below is what each numbered content means.
              1. Your Kindred's life. If it goes down to 0, you lose.
              2. Your Kindred's magic points. This is what you use up to do Magic Attacks or Skills. The Attack button does not use this up.
              3. Your Kindred's level. If your Kindred's level is greater than or equal to the opposing Kindred's level, you will attack first.
              4. The enemy Kindred's life. Attack until it reaches 0. Then you win.
              5. The opposing Kindred's level.
              6. Skills. These are what you're going to use primarily, once you unlock them. They deal more damage than Magic Attack or the Attack button. They unlock once your Kindred is a higher level.
              7. The Magic Attack button. This tends to be stronger than the Attack button.
              8. The Attack button. If you run out of Magic Points, use this. You usually stop using this once you unlock the Magic Attack button, because it is the weakest out of the three ways to attack.
              9. Potions. These have different effects. Some potions can heal your Kindred's HP. Others can damage the enemy. Click on this button, and click on a potion in your inventory to get a preview of what it will do.
              10. The flee button. You can run away from this battle if the opposing Kindred is too strong. You will not use up any stamina if you run away. Note that this isn't always successful, and if your Kindred fails to run away that turn the enemy Kindred will get to attack.

              User Image
If you won the battle, you'll reach the Rewards screen. Here you'll see what you won, and how many ally points and skill points your Kindred and yourself earned, respectively.

              User Image
Once you have got enough Skill Points, your Skill Level will increase. You'll also receive a reward, shown here.

              User Image
Once your Kindred has enough Ally Points, its level will increase. You'll also receive a reward.

              User Image
Your Kindred's stats will increase as well once it levels up.

              User Image
When your Kindred's Stamina is at 0, click on the Sleep button to let it recover stamina. Note that the Stamina will look like it doesn't increase. You'll have to Awaken your Kindred to see how much Stamina your Kindred has gained.

        Where to Farm
There are plenty of areas to farm in Lake Kindred. However, because there are so many, some users have difficulty deciding which they will like best. Here is some areas I chose that are good for farming in.

              Kindred Wilds
                    User Image
This area is considered the end game goal by many due to the Sycamortes and Phantom Sycamortes that reside in Stage 4 and 5 of this area. These two Kindreds can drop 1 billion or 2 billion gold upon defeat, which makes this area a popular place to grind.
It is preferred to grind stage 5 Sycamortes due to a higher chance of a 1 billion or 2 billion gold reward.
Note: Sycamortes and Phantom Sycamortes do not only drop their 1 billion or 2 billion gold rewards. They also have "dud" rewards.
You will need a tree-killer to effectively farm these.

              Zen Temple

              Fafnir's Peak
                    User Image
People come here to farm User Image The Old Ice Fishing Hole, User Image Sakura Fishing Hole, and User Image Winter Trunk.
There is a wide assortment of RIGs here, so if you want to expand your inventory, this is a good place to farm.
Note: There is a high chance of low gold rewards here. The enemy Kindreds are also powerful, so keep that in mind if you want to level a Kindred here.

              Milky Way
                    User Image
People come here to farm User Image Hell Portal.
Along with the usual RIG farming, many people choose to fight [BOSS] Watermeat in Stage 5 of Milky Way. [BOSS] Watermeat has a chance of dropping User Image Jack's Surprise Bag 2k16. When opened, Jack's Surprise Bag has a chance of dropping User Image Watermeat.
Note: [BOSS] Watermeat does not drop only Jack Bags. It also has a chance for the other RIGs normally dropped in Milky Way, and a 100m gold reward. Also, [BOSS] Watermeat is very powerful, and can deal 700+ damage. Keep that in mind if you choose to farm it.

        Starting with Below 1b
You may be unable to afford Sakura, or Watermeat, or all the top tier Kindreds you hear about. This section is for you, then. All of these Kindreds are less than a billion and can still kill Sycamortes at level 50.
User Image Vulcarus, User Image Chocolate Cow, and User Image Soldier Mouse are all much better than the starters provided in the game. These also drop in-game in Fafnir's Peak, Milky Way, and Land of Sweets, respectively.

The stats for the above mentioned kins at level 50 are below the spoiler.

What classifies as a tree-killer? The Sycamorte Grinding Guide goes over that. In general, good damage, and good health are the signs of a tree-killer. If damage is too low, grinding will be too slow and you will use up many potions. If health is too low, then your Kindred will be one-shotted too often for smooth grinding to take place.

RIG farm in one of three areas shown in Where to Farm if your Kindred is not level 50. Alternatively, these Kindreds will be able to start tree-killing below level 50, but will have optimal performance at level 50.

The more expensive ones are User Image Ambitious Tyrant Fafnir, and User Image Starlit Tyrant Fafnir.
The stats for the above mentioned Kindreds at level 50 are below the spoiler.

(1300-1700 damage with Shadow Bite, chance to confuse. Stage 5 tree-killer. Has Dark Heal that heals 100% of HP.)

              User Image
              The Starlit Tyrant Fafnir

(1300-1600 damage with Gold Smash, chance to paralyze. Stage 5 tree-killer.)

Sakura Pegacorn Fluff has high accuracy, decent damage, and very high health. This allows you to grind without constantly focusing on its health.
Watermeat has the highest damage out of all Kindreds. It easily two-shots any regular Sycamorte, though it can also be one-shotted.
Ambitious and Starlit are both similar. They have good damage and good health. They are like the middle-man between Sakura and Watermeat. However, Starlit does not a heal skill while Ambitious has an 100% heal skill.
These Kindreds are good for farming Sycamortes, or for farming [BOSS] Watermeat. You can pretty much farm anywhere with these.
