Hey old friend; copying our chat here. mrgreen
I hope you consider what I've shared for improved quality of life; it's all from my own personal experiences of what worked and what not only failed but did much further harm. I forget, are you in the US? If so and you're interested in looking into hypnotherapy, I can refer you to the one I used; she can do the initial interview via some kind of vid call such as facetime or zoom. I did the initial interview in person then the sessions over speaker phone at home. The details can be shared via pm. But as I said, it's not for everyone; some people are naturally resistant to it. I'm the opposite as I can put myself in a light trance at will and could before I tried it. It's just a slight shift and expansion of awareness.
Knowing how limiting CP can be and from the level you've described, I'm really not. You're doing your best with the hand you've been dealt. I kind of figured you had in home help; you'd need it to live alone. It's great you're able to be online, whether it's fine motor control for keyboarding or voice control. Either would be a challenge.
Are you interested in any kinds of items in particular, such as style, backgrounds color preferences, etc? I can save those ones for you going forward.
pink or pale blue lol anything pastel really xp
Yes I am in the US. Hypnotherapy is a no for me I'll definitely look into the meditation stuff more though. No special software for typing blaugh I can type 15 words a minute one-handed xd
OK, soft colors; got it. Anything you can't use, either sell or donate; I donate surplus to The Red Corpse's charitable threads. I think she's been continuously on Gaia even longer than I have.
Biofeedback might be something to look into as well then. Hypnotherapy is essentially a type of guided meditation. I knew of it's powers from a professional demonstration back in grad school but I had no idea it could actually get the body to heal itself like it did for me. That was a most happy surprise and I'm still amazed at how well it worked. I just wanted a way to stop the pain so I could begin to heal after everything else had failed. My husband reacted to the idea of hypnotherapy much as you did so I got him to try biofeedback and it worked well for him.
That's pretty good fine motor control.
oh ok never thought of the hynotherapy like that, Yup I have some fine motor skills sometimes they are not great. My CP is actually considered mild compared to most cases even though I'm in a wheelchair and can only stand with a walker or grab bar or if someone helps....Not sure where you're from but I can't wait until work tomorrow is over. Monday is a holiday for us so long weekend 3nodding
I never had either until that time and the hypnotherapist told me it could be done and she was right.
Of course, good days and bad days, we all have that. It's worse when even a good day means not having full function so even a slight loss has a big impact, something people without disabilities don't realize.
I am in the US, west coast and retired now, truly a little old lady, lol.
Do you have any plans for the weekend, even if it's just time with friends, a good movie or book?
Where are you located?
I'm in the U.S. too. Yeah I plan on reading this weekend, hopefully I'll finish my book. Definitely watching anime and play some video games...maybe finish my paracord project if the table stays cleaned off enough sweatdrop well I'm off to bed...work in the AM :sigh:
