                  nick-name: Ichigeki
                  Gender: Male
                  age: unknwon
                  Race: Supposedly Human
                  Height: 6' 2"
                  Weight: 150-160lbs
                  Eye Color: Forest Green
                  Sexuality: Straight
                  likes/dislikes:
Ichigeki has many likes, one of which being reading. He loves visiting libraries and finding books he has never read, especially the unusual. Novelties are his specialty, as he could date and name many trinkets that would be found at a common marketplace. Variety in life is something that Ichigeki aspires to gain, and talking to people he meets as much as possible is one way to do it. Though Ichigeki has likes, he also has dislikes. He travels the world not because he has to, but because he hates to feel tied down. Although he also hates being alone, he travels the world (which is ironic for a traveler, that's why he likes to talk to people while in towns). Being in a rut and mental inaction are two things that he tries to avoid, and trivial learning like school is something he shies away from as he prefers unconventional learning.
Personality: Ichigeki may be rather old, but he is very youthful and lively. He is adoptable and can be around many different kinds of people, and versatile to where he can cope with almost any seemingly bad situation. He is an intellectual as he reads a lot, communicative as he loves to talk with other people, and witty when in a conversation.
Bio: Ichigeki was born into a small village that was precariously perched between two larger kingdoms. They were at peace for many years, enough for Ichigeki to grow into a man, inherit the family farm, marry, and have 2 children, a little girl and a boy. The kingdoms were never very stable with their peace, and always sent threatening letters to each other via horseback. Eventually a war broke out between the kingdoms. One would strike out at the other and destroy a building with explosives, the other would retaliate with a few killings. But while these smaller battles went on, the kings of the castles were busy building large armies which they intended on throwing at the opposing kingdom. Each drew their armies and sent them to attack, however Ichigeki's home was between them. They converged on the town, killing anyone and burning anything in their way, including Ichigeki's home and family.
Ichigeki was distraught, and out of a fit of rage and agony, released all energy he had in one burst through his hands at the armies, turning himself and them to stone. The kingdoms thought of their war as pointless, and the efforts of one man to stop them heroic, so they set aside their differences and combined their kingdoms on the spot where the man sacrificed his life to stop them. His body (encased in stone) stood at the center of the city for three hundred years before Ichigeki came back into consciousness. A voice from what seemed like nowhere told him to protect nature. That she was passing on her power to him, Yggdrasil, the mother-tree, was dying, and he was the perfect vessel to hold her power... For his anguish over his loved ones, his suffering for 300 years, and his want to protect all that is in danger turned out to be what she was looking for in a successor.
The power wasn't trivial like one would think; it didn't give him strength or skill or the power to conjure fire with his mind. It gave him life, not forever, but until he found a successor when he was close to death: It also fueled his want to learn and protect. However this power did not grant him amnesty from death. Ichigeki has died a few times over the years, but never once was he sent to the afterlife. Each time, Ichigeki came face to face with death himself, only to be brought to a place of seclusion for fifty years. Where Ichigeki died, a tree would grow: a beautiful Yew tree with fruit so delicious that it is said that people would go to war for just one bite. After about fifty years, the tree would die, and from its roots, Ichigeki would emerge: slightly different than he was before, but with the same skill and mind as before. His blade, Kotetsu, would be solidified where ever it landed when he died, as no creature alive or dead but Ichigeki would be able to lift it.
Ichigeki was devote on learning arts what would help him protect people, animals, and nature alike. After mastering swordsmanship, he decided to master martial arts, learning any form that was strewn before him in his travels. Along with his travels he found many spirits, two of which were known as Ko and Su, the spirits of the moon and ocean. They gave him their power as well to be put into a blade tied together with his spirit. This blade wasn't extraordinary, just one that only he could use, one that would always be his as long as he lived, and one he could pass down to his successor. He called it Kotetsu, in honor of the spirits that gave him their power.
                  Side: Good
Powers: Ichigeki has no definite powers that he can use in battle. A couple come from experience and his blade, and he never really had a talent for quick casting magic (as he would have to speak out the entire incantation before being able to cast it). He is a master martial artist and swordsman, and has developed his own style of fighting, so in a way, this is his power.
Weapons: A long katana that is always strapped to his side when traveling. It rests in an pitch-black onyx sheath with a small red ribbon tied in a bow about an inch from the end. In the side, carved in a long since dead language, is the blade's name; Kotetsu. The hilt of the blade is made of more onyx, wrapped in a braided red ribbon in a diamond X formation. In each diamond, carved into the hilt are words in the same dead language; on one side, saying the phases of the moon, and on the other the names of those Ichigeki knew as a child whom were lost at sea. Ko, the spirit of the ocean and Su, the spirit of the moon bound by a piece of Ichigeki's soul making the powerful blade.

Early morning. The sun was just beginning to peak above the hilltops, above the trees and pine needles and into the castle tower. The kingdoms of Rodia and Chyresse were becoming more hostile, and those who were smart had already left the towns that stood between them; but not the townspeople of the small town of Miyakuchi. Just outside town a farm was just beginning to wake, as a man and his son tended to the wheat in the field
"Okay son," Ichigeki breathed with a huff, a gleam in his eye as he handed his son the scythe,"I want you to cut the wheat and place it in that wheelbarrow over there."
Ichigeki gestured back towards the windmill, where his wife and daughter were still sleeping (to his knowledge).
"Okay daddy, I'll do my be-"
"But don't cut yourself, Kuro. Take your time. I don't want you lopping off a finger or something."
He interrupted; a hint of worry tainted his words. Kuro just smiled and nodded, chopping the wheat close to the ground, then taking up a big heap and putting it in the wheelbarrow for later use. This went on for several minutes; Kuro and Ichigeki tilling the fields, Ichigeki worrying after his 8-year old son, then placing wheat in the wheel barrow. Before long it was full and ready to be taken inside to be ground and made into bread by the baker in town.
Ichigeki took up the wheel barrow, pushing it up hill towards the windmill. Suzuka, Ichigeki's wife, and Nina his daughter were walking towards them with a basket.
"Ichigeki, Nina and I are going to head into town to pick up some supplies; we'll be back in a couple hours, alright?"
Suzuka said with a bright smile as they passed. Nina was bouncing as she came up to her father, gave his leg a big squeeze before running along, waving back to her papa. Ichigeki couldn't help but smiling at his bubbly happy daughter.
It took several minutes to make it to the top of the hill where the mill was, and by that time Kuro was already bored, sitting in the shade. Ichigeki wiped the sweat from his brow and took a long look out towards his wife and daughter. From here they looked like little bugs walking towards a town of boxes, with more bugs scurrying along the streets, and even more, tinier bugs in the distant hill-... His thought vanished as he saw the line of bugs coming down from the hills, now running over them like a cascading waterfall. The rumble was light, but growing stronger. It wasn't just coming from in front of him, but behind his mill as well.
Ichigeki thought. Then realized with a horrible jolt that it was the armies of the kingdoms running towards one another! There had been tension and threats, but to his knowledge they had always been empty and innocent, for the kingdoms to actually attack one another. Ichigeki immediately picked up his son, who squirmed, and put him inside.
"Whatever you do, do NOT come out. Get into the basement and stay there until I come back, you hear?!"
Ichigeki commanded his son before closing and locking the door on the outside. He started a sprint towards his wife and daughter, shouting both of their names.

"…Isn't this just a lovely day Nina? The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and the flowers are just starting to bloom. This is the reason your father and I chose to live here."
Suzuka smiled down to her daughter, holding her hand lightly between her fingers. Nina's thought's seemed to be elsewhere as the curious six-year old looked around at the flowers and bees, the butterflies and the birds. Her eyes then trailed off into the bushes that currently blocked her view.
                                      "Mama? Wha's that stomp-stomp noise?"
Nina asked looking around confusedly. Suzuka had been too far into looking around at the scenery to notice the noise.
                                      "I don't know. It's probably nothing."
Suzuka disregarded it with a smile and kept strolling towards town.

                                      "…Suzuka!!! Nina! Come back!"
Ichigeki shouted as he ran, trying with all his might to catch up with his wife and daughter. By the time they could hear him, it was already too late. They turned around to look at him, only to find it wasn't only him, but also the armies. Ichigeki could see the terror in their eyes as they were trampled by the first wave of cavalry, and hear their screams before all was quiet but the sounds of the armies. Ichigeki stopped dead in his tracks. The armies had missed him, swerved around, but trampled his wife and daughter.
"No. This can't be happening. This. It-... It just can't..."
Ichigeki fell to his knees. His entire body was numb, his face was hot, and tears streamed from his burning eyes. He couldn't believe this was happening. No, it couldn't be happening. It had to be a dream! Yes! A dream. Ichigeki pinched his arm. Nothing. Again, again, until a trickle of blood ran down from where he was pinching.
"It's... Not a dream. How. How could you all be so heartless."
One soldier stopped the battle for a moment and looked at Ichigeki. He looked at him, and then in the direction he was facing. True sympathy came onto his face when he saw the dead little girl and the young woman. But that didn't last long, as a soldier from the opposing army charged up to him and cut him down into the dust.
Ichigeki turned his head to look at his home, but. No. It was on fire. The windmill was on fire, flames leaped from the turning blades of the mill, mocking him, laughing in puffs of cruel smoke as if shouting to the sky before it fell to the ground, lighting the entire crop of wheat on fire as well.
"No... My son was-... Heartless. You're-. All heartless."
Ichigeki's sadness subsided and he turned his face up to look at the soldiers. It was a blank expression. The world seemed to be spinning, and it wouldn't stop.
                                      "You're-. All-. HEARTLESS!"
Ichigeki shouted, spreading his arms and taking a stance. True agony; pain and suffering, no hate but pain. One’s true power could only be obtained from such suffering. Bursts of energy shot from his hands turning both armies to stone, Ichigeki screamed in agony and sadness as he was turned to stone as well.

Darkness. Nothing but pitch black darkness. One could go crazy in such seclusion. Ichigeki’s mind wandered, searching for an answer to his predicament. Was he alive? No, if he was he would be able to feel his hands. Then it stood before him. A masked figure in a dark robe with long bony fingers... A long, dark flowing robe hung limply from the figure’s lifeless body. It moved once, leaning in closer to Ichigeki.
“Tis’ time. They are waiting for you.'

The figure worded in a deadly, raspy voice as it revealed Ichigeki’s wife and children waiting for him in the light. Ichigeki smiled before he looked back at the figure.
                                      "Am I-. Are you-. Death?"
The figure only gave a brief and slow nod. Ichigeki ran forward to go to his family, only to be stopped by a flash of golden fur. A golden wolf jumped in front of him, turning its head to the side. The wolf looked at Ichigeki in the eyes, examining him to the very core of his being. The beast’s eyes seemed to pierce all the way to Ichigeki’s soul. It looked away, then to death, before speaking.
“It is not your time yet. Death. I choose him to be the guardian.”
Death's only reply was a brief and slow nod. Ichigeki looked towards his family. His daughter was still young in mind and did not fully grasp the situation. His wife was in tears. Ichigeki turned back towards death. The creature’s bony hand was stretched forward, ready to take Ichigeki back to the world of the living. Ichigeki jerked his hand away, turning and pointing towards his family.
"No! I want to go with them!"
                                      Death answered this time.
“I was corrected. It is not your time.”

…Darkness. Echoes; sound reverberating off the walls of one’s mind. Unable to die. Unable to live. What an existence. No thought, only numbness. The smallest of words creeping out of the back of one’s mind; one can hear the echoes, but not the words.
The two kingdoms which had come together in war had no real reason to fight. They had been in an uneasy peace, that was for sure, but what was the point in the battle? Ending the lives of the innocent in a struggle that never had to happen. The actions of one man opened the eyes of the duke of Rodia and the duchess of Chyresse. They realized that what they were doing, the hateful letters to one another and all the suffering was pointless. They brought their kingdoms together in the place Ichigeki gave his life to stop them; not in war but in peace. The duke and duchess married soon after, creating a new and much grander kingdom than before, placing the statue of the man who opened their eyes at the center. It quickly prospered, and soon three hundred years had passe
“Now if you’ll all just follow me, this is the statue of the hero. The plaque at the base is written in the old language from back then, and it reads; ‘Here stands the hero of the people. May he shine light on the darkness and keep us from destruction.’”
A man stood in front of the statue. He wore a dark robe and held a large book in red binding. In front of him stood about a dozen children between the ages of nine and fifteen, all in robes similar to his, but all of which had a single red stripe down the middle. A normal day in the grand city of New Miyakuchi. The sun shined bright, and all was well for the townsfolk. Everyone was happy, children playing, adults chatting. Town square was bustling with people. Grandstanders, entertaining the patrons of the city, carts with food being sold to people as they laughed and watched the free entertainment. Still the statue stood at the center, as if it were watching. Waiting.
‘Your time has come. Let the barrier crumble, and be free once again.’
'... Who-. Said that?' Ichigeki thought, as his mind began to be lifted from a dark shroud. No more echoes. No more darkness, only dim light and blurriness. Thought came back, numbness being replaced with heaviness. Three hundred years.
                                      “Now, if you’ll follow me.”
The instructor began to his students, most of them followed, but one stayed behind. The boy turned his head to the instructor, pointing towards the statue.
“Professor! Look! The statue is crumbling!”
The students and the professor stopped and turned towards the statue. Pieces of stone fell from the arms, from the hair and the fingers. Skin was beginning to appear. People in the streets stopped what they were doing, turning towards the phenomena before gaping in awe. Rubble began to pile at the base of the statue before Ichigeki appeared behind the curtain of dust. He fell to his knees, woozy dizzy. No strength at all. His dark robes were tattered and torn, worn, and his once light brown hair was stained with gray ash.
"Look at that! The statue fell!"
"A man was inside, when did-?"
"How long as that man been inside the stone!"
                                      "Mommy! I'm scared..."
The crowd became deathly silent. The only sounds that were heard was that of Ichigeki’s breath. Overlooking the town center was the balcony where the ruler of the city would give speeches. A single guard leaned over the side, looking down towards the man who was trapped in stone. The guard looked on in awe, before almost physically dragging himself into the palace. He burst through the great doors, turning towards the throne where the emperor and empress sat in silence.
"Your majesty! The statue! The statue has come to life, sire!"
The guard shouted, his voice shaking. The emperor opened his eyes wide at the intrusion. It first seemed as if he was angry about the guard disturbing the meditation, but he stood and took a single step forward.
"Preposterous! How can that be?! The statue has stood there for centuries!"
The emperor stepped heavily towards the balcony door, his long flowing dark purple robes dragging lightly a crossed the floor and stepped outside. He assumed the guard was a buffoon, being tricked by one of the grandstanders in the square, but when the emperor glanced down at the statue, only a man crouched in its place. As the emperor looked over the man from the distance, the crowd turned their attention towards him, as if expecting their ruler to do something about what had occurred.
The emperor turned to one of the guards at his side. The man leaned over, allowing him to whisper into his ear.
"Get the guards and bring that man to me. Be cautious, he may be a threat, but I would still like to have a word with him.”
The guard obeyed and gathered a dozed guards at the large gate that was the entrance to the palace. The doors opened, and the crowd moved to make way for the guards. They marched out of the palace and up to the fountain that surrounded the memorial. Two guards stepped into its waters and took Ichigeki, carrying him by his underarms. Many people in the crowd began to shout, some in praise and some in hatred.
“Why are you taking him away?!”
“Give the poor man some space!”
“He doesn’t deserve space! Lock him up!”
                                      “He destroyed the statue!”
But as the guards withdrew into the palace with Ichigeki, the crowd began to shout up at the emperor. The emperor looked down at his subjects, stroking his long white beard gently with his old right hand before shouting at the crowd.
“SILENCE! I do not know what has happened here today, but it will be resolved. Get back to your jobs and day to day lives.”
The emperor turned and walked slowly back inside his palace. The doors closed slowly behind him. When they finally shut, the crowd began to disperse, as confused and conflicted as ever.
Ichigeki's mind was in a daze... He couldn't focus on anything. The castle walls around him were blurred, the dark purple imperial rug wasn't even there to him... All he felt was heaviness.. All he could think of was static.
The guards held Ichigeki by his underarms and carried him into the main room of the castle where the emperor himself sat, stroking his long white beard. Next to him sat the empress who sat in silence. It was an eloquent room, adorned with many paintings, fancy tables, glass decorations, weaponry that was not in use, old armor, and brilliant stained glass windows.
The guards dropped Ichigeki to the floor where he landed on his hands and knees. The guards bowed to their emperor before backing away. Ichigeki panted, trying to regain his grip on reality. His ears rang, his body was heavy, and piercing pain came from his eyes whenever he tried to open them (as he was no longer use to light).
The emperor looked long and hard at Ichigeki all the while stroking his beard. He thought and watched the man in a silent awe. He couldn't believe that the man was ALIVE inside said statue for so long! Several minutes passed before the emperor finally broke the silence, putting both hands his knees.
"You, hero," He said in a booming, deep and commanding voice, “Arise from the floor, I have a few questions that need be answered by you."
The king commanded Ichigeki. Ichgieki said not a word. In his mind everything was still fuzzy as he tried to catch up on what was going on. All he had heard were the words "Hero", "Arise", "Questions", and "Answered". The rest of the noise around him faded in and out, he had no way to actually reply at this point in time.
"Hero? Why do you not answer your emperor?"
The emperor scolded. The guards got ready to take him at the emperor’s command, but he raised one arm to put the men at ease before turning towards the corner of the room. A smaller man in light robes and a black hat stood awaiting orders. The emperor looked at him before commanding.
"Kussan. Go over to the man and see if you can get him to stand. Do not hurt him."
The man bowed to his emperor and scurried towards Ichgieki in an instant. He poked Ichigeki's shoulders, and then pulled at his hair gently.
"Hero, stand up, speak. Do something?"
Kussan did whatever he could to try and awaken Ichigeki from his daze to no prevail. He stepped away and back into his corner, and bowed to the king again as he walked past him.
"Leave him be a little while longer. Maybe he is just regaining his thoughts.. He has been trapped in stone for three hundred years..."
At the words three hundred years Ichigeki's eyes shot open. He jumped to his feet, looking around the room, wide eyed, and seeing the guards in bubbles of blurred images. The room spun and blurred in and out of vision, until his eyes gained focus.
"My wife! My daughter! Where are-."
Ichigeki started, before realizing he was no longer surrounded by armies. Ichigeki was stumped. He had no idea what was going on. Why. Where was he? Where was his village? The nearest kingdom was nearly one hundred miles to the East from where Miyakuchi had been.
"Where am I- King-. Sire, Emperor. Whatever! Why, why am I in this strange kingdom? Was all I went through a dream? Is my family alive? Why am I here!"
The king looked at the man with pained eyes. He realized that Ichgieki was no warrior... He wasn't trained, not a great magician or swordsman, but a simple townsman who had hidden potential. His family was killed, or even if they weren't, it had been three hundred years... They were most certainly deceased.
"I'm sorry, my boy. But you've been trapped in stone for the past three hundred years. This place is your home, or what has become of it. Your family has been gone for a long, long time. Here, why don't you take a seat. We will discuss some issues once you have your thoughts together."
Ichigeki didn't believe the man at first. But as his words started to sink in, as Ichigeki walked to his seat, sadness began to sink in.

should calm his mind and look into the depths of others.
Doing so is likely the best of the martial arts.

Ichigeki is a fit, young looking man with the strength of an ox. He is hard to topple, and though he does not fight offensively, he still uses his strength as an advantage. Ichigeki tends to use his own style of fighting more often than his own blade. His style consists of many different styles learned over centuries of training and traveling, and though he could use it offensively, Ichigeki does not like harming people even if they cause him harm. When Ichigeki is forced to draw his blade, whether it be out of defense or offense, many are surprised to see the actual length of his blade. Ichigeki's sword, Kotetsu (or mun-umi to some), is a Tachi that rivals the length of even an Odachi. Similar to a Katana, the Tachi is curved and sharp, but is also longer and more curved than its counterpart. Ichigeki's weapon is almost as long as an Odachi, a sword normally used by samurai cavalry, however his is special. Ichigeki's blade is as light as moonlight, or at least that's what he would tell someone who asked. Kotetsu is actually a pound heavier than a normal katana; Ichigeki's strength just makes him believe that it is so light. Ichigeki uses the reach of the blade to scare people into backing off, although if anyone got close enough to try and strike him, Ichigeki would take the offensive by striking his opponent with the hilt of his blade, while using the blade itself as a shield. His style with a blade is unique, just like his hand-to-hand combat style, but Ichigeki can fight for hours upon hours defending other people. His movements are slow, and Ichigeki is rather stiff, but he makes up for his sluggishness with sheer will and training.

Ichigeki is very youthful and lively. He has lived hundreds of lifetimes, and though he may become old at some point or another, Ichigeki cannot help his endless energy. He is adoptable and can be around many different kinds of people, and versatile to where he can cope with almost any situation. Ichigeki likes people, and even though he does not normally stay in a single place for very long, he does care for the people he meets. He would sacrifice his life to save another's, although due to his immortality, Ichigeki does not mind letting his life end; as his absence from the world would only last a heartbeat. Ichigeki is also a very
