Detective Noir had just been given his first major case, three young women across the city had been killed that week. It was up to him and his new partner and long time friend Detective Sphere to catch the perpatrator. Ever sense they were given the case they had been scrounging for evidence, going over crime scenes, and looking for leads. They finally found one. Not an hour ago they had come across a witness to the second murder, a homeless man by the name of John Adams. John had been walking the streets when he saw the perp take a girl that matched the description to an abandoned hotel in the bad part of town.

Sphere glanced over his shoulder, already standing up as she looked at the photograph paperclipped to the folder. "So how would you like to do this? I don't think showing up in uniform would be too smart and I'm sure he won't be staying at that hotel long." She trusted his judgement and intuition.

"I say we go check it out, then if their really is anything to report we'll call for back up," he then thanked John for his time and slipped him a dollar. He headed back to the car and got in the drivers seat, it wasn't a long drive but there was a lot to think over so he lit a cigarette as Sphere got in the car.

Sphere made a face as she slipped into the car, fanning away the smoke from his cigarette with her hat. "Noir! How many times have I had to ask you to please don't smoke around me? You KNOW I hate that!" She shook her head, growling in irritation. "You know what? I'll walk, you can stay in here and smoke yourself into a chimney." Without waiting for his response she opened the door and slipped out. The car hadn't been moving very fast so she just stood up from where she landed on the ground and started walking towards the hotel.

Noir rolled his eyes and flicked his cig out the window.
"Get back in here, we have things to do."
He leaned over and opened the side door.
"We don't know anything about this guy, he could be choosing another victim as we speak."

Sphere grinned mischievously at him. "I'll meet you a block from the old hotel. You may not want to park too close in case he's keeping a look-out." She chuckled to herself as she moved towards the abandoned building. She knew her friend meant well, but honestly a person's first impression of her was that she was a guy, and it was because of the way she dressed more than anything else. During the few times she had to get all fancied up to go undercover there was no mistaking that she was all woman. Right now, however, she was in her usual two-sizes too-large outfit... Nobody would think that she was a girl, especially a perp that liked to prey on young women.

Besides, the hotel wasn't that much further away and she wanted to get a better idea of the area before Noir got there.

She glanced around. When she was told this area was abandoned, they meant it. There was an almost creepy air about it. Regardless she kept out of sight, waiting for Noir to pull up.

Noir pulled in behind a tall building not to far away from the hotel and walked from there.
He checked to make sure his guns were loaded and ready even though he already knew they were.
This was the bad part of town and you couldn't be to careful.
Noir walked up to where Sphere was standing.

Sphere didn't look at Noir when he came over. She kept her gaze fixed on the old hotel before them, her mind already trying to form a plan for getting in and getting out. Alive... she added. That's important.

"The windows," she said quietly. "No matter which direction we come in he could still escape through the windows. See? There's one on each side, big enough for him to easily slide out of." She wondered if it was possible to lock the windows from the outside. It wouldn't be too difficult, she could reach them from the fire escape.

She turned to Noir. "I'll go lock the windows. Or at least try to block them so he can't get them open."

"Alright you do that, I'll check the doors."
Noir went around to the front of the building with gun in hand.
Hopefully he could find something he could use to lock the front doors.

Sphere gave a slight nod and started for the fire escape. She was focused on the important task at hand, which was why it was annoying her that she had a nagging feeling something wasn't quite right. Whatever, it was probably the creepy air of being in a dangerous part of the city. She would just make sure she kept her guard up and her senses alert.

She moved to the first window, careful not to make a sound. That nagging feeling kept picking at her. She shoved it aside as her hands got to work locking the window. She noticed the bars on the fire escape rail were just those cheap things that easily pull out of place. Perfect.

She carefully popped one out and began barring the window, still ignoring that pesky nagging feeling as if it were simply a mosquito buzzing around.

Even in his half-drunken stupor he could hear them coming. Having fallen asleep with a bottle of whiskey in his hand Eden stretched as he listened to someone trying to work the security bars off the back window. Standing up slowly he let his free hand slide across the back of his mutt that lay beside him. Well, technically it was a mean stray he'd picked up on the street a dew days ago- but it'd eat raw meat so for now Eden didn't mind the company.

Walking around to the window he pulled back the curtain and grinned at the girl on the other side. She was pretty, if a little boyish. She'd just managed to work off the bars. He opened the window and paused a moment, as if waiting for her to explain herself.

"Hey Pretty. If you wanted to come see me, you could've just asked."

With the hand that gripped the bottle, he swung out the window, slamming her in the face.
