I am not sure if someone made this thread before, I really really hope not because I'd love to hear what you guys have to say about what I wrote. What is your view on marriage?

Because I am Christian I belief marriage is an example of Christ and his love the church. Everytime you get married that is what you are showing. Everytime you get a divorce it compares with when a Christian seperates from God to worship an idol or other God. In Christianity a woman submits to her husband as Lord "It's not like what it sounds like, I promise you" which is what the Christian body does to towards God, we call God Lord. Lord means to serve under someone's will and/or obedience. That is the one reasons Christians live by the Bible because it's helps lead us to God's will for our lifes. With marriage I belief the one-ess of Christ and the church and becoming one body is where sex comes in. In Christianity sex before marriage or to have several partners is a bit of a mockery of the example of Christ and a church. "I have seen many topics that said God is against sex but no, there is an entire romantic book in Bible called [Songs of Solomon] specifically about it. It just has to be in marriage"

I would love to hear what you guys have to say! smile

I believe that the verb referring to one's belief has a V in it.

Beyond that, I believe that crap like this accounts for quite a lot of the divorce you see. The fact is that marriage is a pact, a patnership between two individuals to share their lives. It's not an example of Christ's anything, unless you're willing to concede that he was married himself. And even then, that does not change the fact that when two people marry, they must do it with respect to one another and to their own needs and wants, not because of some ideal mythological example.

Marriage is a partnership in the real world, not simply a ceremony conducted in church.

EDIT: Notice I didn't at any point say marriage has anything to do with one's gender or that of their partner. Just a thought.

Nope.
In Christianity the Bible says that when we die we won't be married to our old spouse anymore. In heaven we "Will" be married to Jesus. The Church will be married to Christ. smile "Not sexually but all sex is, is an example of one-ness and commitment"

And again, I think that basing a real-life scenario on some mythological castle in the sky is nothing short of sheer stupidity. The people who do that are the ones who finally divorce, or are just miserable for the rest of their lives. Marriage is A PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN TWO PEOPLE, at least it is in this realm. If you want to hold off on it until you reach your happy hunting grounds, have a ball. That's your choice.
I forgot to add. You are saying Christianity is crap? Because what I said is what we Christians belief.. It's a big part.

I see your new edit. In Christianity it does need to be between a man and a woman, yes.

I agree. My marriage had nothing to do with Jesus...it was solely about me and my husband. We got married to show that we wanted to be together, that we considered ourselves one. At no point in time did I agree to "submit" to my husband. I agreed to be equal to him.
No, I am not too sure I agree with you that are the people that divorces. For one is not right in Christianity to have a divorce unless for "certain reasons" in the first place like adultery or if you are unequally yoked. But yes, there are some Christians that do get divorces, I do have to say but it's not supposed to be.

What is your beliefs on life though? Do you have a religion? You seem to be against many things, like heaven.

Christianity does not have the monopoly on marriage.
