exactly as the staff alert says, people using bots and scripts to give themselves an unfair advantage. personally, i also think using a mass amount of mule accounts to vote for urself is also unfair but not exactly cheating i suppose.

The mule account thing really should be cheating, I hope it already is being considered that. Admittedly it would take a lot of work to keep finding yourself, but seriously, you could vote yourself up as much as you want if you just keep making accounts.

That's honestly the first thing I thought of in regards to runway cheating. Even with a bot, on one account I think you can only vote for the same person once.

I brought this up earlier in the thread: you can vote for anyone as many times as you want within the 24 hr period, so creating a bunch of mules is pointless. No matter what account you're on, you'd still have to click through the entries 2-by-2 to find yourself

I didn't see that in the thread, but my experiences contradict that. I'm usually on right after 12, when only a few entries have been put in for the new contest, I often have the same one's pop up. But when I tested if I could vote for them twice, instead of "vote counted", it says "Whoa, hold on we're already filing the paperwork!". I really think that's an obvious indicator you can't vote on any entry more than once per account.

Or that you're voting really quickly. It is also possible that since you're voting around 12, you are still voting in the previous day's contest- which is not allowed. If that is the case, then it makes sense that you're getting this error message

I also have been on daily recently having gotten addicted to runway. I think I can tell between contests. stare

I don't know about voting fast but I really doubt it. To be able to do that on Gaia's part would be beyond retardation. All you'd have to do is be on after twelve, find yourself over and over, and figure out how long you wait. People would have caught and completely broken runway with that by now. As I've seen, the votes do not skyrocket in such an obvious manner around that time, so I say it's a definite nope on that.

I didn't say you couldn't tell the difference. And I think you meant "stupid" or one of the many, many other synonyms for stupid, instead of "retardation." Come on bruh.
Anyway, people DO do that. It doesn't break runway, because the system is set up in such a way that allows someone to vote as much as they want for whomever. And the voting doesn't have to skyrocket right after midnight because people have all day to vote for themselves

Take this however you like, but though I've heard about it, I can't believe I'm encountering someone sensitive about the common slang usage of the word retard.

That aside, I personally don't feel like you pick up what's being put down at all, so let's just drop the subject. I really don't think the two of of us will get anywhere speaking to each other.

I understand what you're saying, it's just wrong. You've made several declarative statements based on your very limited experience, and I don't think you like being corrected. bye lol emotion_yatta

Mmhmm. Sure. TC, have a nice life. You've summed up exactly how I feel about you, and you even refuse to drop it peacably, pretending to while not even passive agressively but rudely continuing to argue to ensure you have the last word. I would have held off if the reply had been about the retard comment, but I really did my best to peaceably ask you to leave this be. I deal with enough of this as it is on youtube, welcome to my Gaia ignore list. talk2hand

well when voting in the runway the same avis appear more than once more than others where as i'll see one stand out avi and vote for it and then i wont see it again for an hour or so of voting so i guess thats kinda cheating since some users appear more than others so it kinda does give them an unfair advantage

That's not cheating because the user has no control over that. And certain avatars appear more frequently to you at that time you're voting in, but if you ask anyone else, they couldn't say the same thing. If you came back to vote at a different time, you'd probably see that you'd have a different set of avatars appearing more frequently to you.

the thing is though i do come back at different times and my voting pool in generally the same and how i consider it cheating is with them appearing more often they can vote for themselves and have there friends do it. ive had a few friends personally ask me to vote for them if i saw them in the runway and when i saw their avi i specifically didnt vote for them cause i knew they probably asked more people and were vote spamming. also those in the top 5 have usually ridiculous amounts of votes where as some users of have like a max of 60

But like I said, just because someone is appearing more frequently to you, doesn't mean they're appearing frequently to any one else. In fact, I believe gaia intentionally makes it harder for a person to find their own avatar in a contest (ask Zero about that).

People in the top 5 can have 40 or 400 votes without spam voting depending on how popular a contest is and how many people have entered. Typically the free contests have tons of people of entering, making it harder for people to see any one avatar so the vote count of the top 5 will be lower than in a gcash contest that didn't offer many free entries. Others don't have a max of 60, that's just how many votes they got that day. And voting for your friends or even yourself is not cheating. You can vote for who ever you want in the 24hr period.

at least, if you're gonna vote yourself into first don't be super obvious about it by giving yourself a huge lead lol
My bitter 2 cents on this topic:
The problem lies within the system itself.

We were told each avatar has the same chance of coming up as any other, but yet in practice (and we all have seen this) some just come up more often than others. As a test, I did 200 refreshes, and some I saw 4 or more times, others only once...and my own, never. Maybe seeing my own is a way to prevent voting for myself, I don't really know

But if you want to fix the "cheating", then fix the system. Make is so an individual can only vote on an avatar a few times, then have it pulled from the roster! If we are only allowed to vote, say 3 times on an avie and then we never see it again, then the ones that are truly well done will start to shine through. Because as it stands now, those that get seen more often will gather more votes, doesn't matter if it's good or not.

Voting for your one account is one thing. Entering your main account along with several mules and then voting for yourself constantly should be considered cheating. These accounts would show up more often than someone who only entered one account.

If someone wins with several mules for all the places (1st, 2nd, and 3rd) that should be considered cheating as well. If mules are allowed to be entered at one time, only 1 should be allowed to win, no matter how good the avatars are.

I see what you're saying, but I'm gonna play devil's advocate: How can entering mules count as cheating when it doesn't increase the chances of winning for one particular avatar? It sounds more like it would decrease the chances of winning for someone trying to spam vote, because instead of focusing on 1 avatar to try to get the most votes for, you've split your concentration into looking for 3 or however many more avatars. You can vote for yourself 5 times, but if it was for 5 different mule accounts, then you only got 1 vote. If you're using bots, then sure that's cheating. Of course. But if you just had a a bunch of good ideas for a contest that probably won't show up again very soon, like the "Everything is Fine" runway, then can you be blamed if the voters thought they were good ideas too?

I talked to someone earlier about this: just because someone is appearing more frequently or infrequently to you, doesn't mean they are to everyone else. You may not show up to your own account but to someone else, you're there every 10 refreshes. But otherwise, I agree with you. My idea was just a museum page where you can cast 1 vote for each of the avatars you think are good and that's it! The 2 or 3 votes you can get from mule accounts in that scenario is not nearly as much as the 50+ votes you can get now with spam voting for yourself.

If you are sitting there voting for yourself, the chances of your one avatar coming up is limited, since you're looking for only 1 avatar through hundreds. Sure, your voting numbers are all focused on one, but think if you have several avatars coming up constantly that you can vote for? You're able to now instead of "refreshing" you're voting for one of your several avatars instead. Your 1 avatar may not get the most votes, but your several avatars are getting a pretty large amount of constant votes anyway.

If you're willing to click refresh for hours on end, you're now able to vote for yourself more than the one time you could have if you only entered once.

Your 100 votes for the one account are now 100 votes for each of your 5 different accounts. It doesnt get split up like you're thinking. You're still only voting for yourself, but just now, you have 5 chances instead of 1.

See though, that I feel isn't the case. Not only was I not showing up to me, but my sister and a few friends also did not see me at all within that 4 hour chunk. In addition to that, I got no more votes, while those around me managed at least 3 or 4 (and one even got 13). It was like I just vanished for that time frame, which really isn't fair to the whole "everyone has the same chance". If that really were the case, I should have gotten at least one vote in that time frame. It's not like my entry sucked or anything.
But it's also like I have no actual proof. I don't know how the algorithm behaves but I do know that 2 nearly identical creations an have wildly different vote pulls, just based on how disproportionately one is seen over the other. Again, all speculation since I don't know exactly how the algorithm works, or is supposed to work.
