Oh god please rerelease them.

It's pointless to hold a whole swath of items 'hostage' because of the value of a select few that are otherwise irrelevant to most users.
It's really telling that the people against this tend to be vendors.
we’re a vocal minority

OP sounds like a beginning to the end kind of thing, opening the flood gates fer other types of releases. Ppl spent money for MCs not to be rereleased. People spent LOTS of money on tickets for those customs to not be rereleased. Where’s the line drawn?
Yall have been crying that x is the end since like 2014. I ain't here for doom-mongering, esp. from vendors. (And while I mean no hostility towards you, do know I am v. tired of vendor opinions on this topic because most of them tend to be wrong.)

The only items not allowed for rrs have their reasons, be they due to reasons from their ticket (which can be null and void should the submitting user be banned, as we've seen from some plat dolls) or sponsors, which are actually tied up in legitimate red tape. That's where the line is drawn, and it's drawn quite clearly.
yea Leo I’ll be honest I really don’t care at this point what Gaya does. They proved time and time again they don’t keep to their word (from a what-concerns-exchangers-POV). All the MCs are already soooo easy acq at this point that I truly don’t understand the need to rerelease them even more
Ah yes, items with no listing and have had no listing for ages because there hasn't been a rr are so easy to obtain. rolleyes

Y'know that whole bit above is probably why.
after reading like 20 pages I’ve come to realization my mindset toward Gaya is v different than everyone else’s here

Not sure we’re gonna find common ground or understanding

Well, the majority of the player base is not willing to accept how easy it is to acquire stuff because they're lazy to go through the road, that's all. Your fault is that you are trying to explain something that they don't want to hear/accept/whatever.

So yeah, it's hard to find common ground. Immovable object vs Unstoppable power

So, for anyone that has been to the Daily Chance Update thread, you might notice that Gaia is already releasing MCs. I took the time to find all that have been listed:

Ice Gauntlet, Gothic Veil, Prima Poppet, Nightmare Scythe, First Frost, Ivory Baronet, Vigilant Hound, Spirit Falcon, Sno Yeti Pillow Plush(chillin'), Antique Ball-jointed Doll, [Animal] Teddy Bear Brothers, [Animal] Warrior of the Breeze, [Animal] Master Panda, Princesse Honoré, Captive Syrma, Juno's Lace, Datamancer, Black Sheep, Royal Keymaster, Nitemare Crown, Ice Prince, Bani the Bunny, Demonic Armor, Radiant Prism, Dark Omen (via bundle), Empress Cotton, Atlantis, & Rugged Woodsman
Also Ancient Katana from a RBG.

While I saw one or two complaints, everyone just either didn't care or took the time to look. Not everyone cares about Angelic Halo. Some users just finally want to get their hands on Grimm Apprentice. Do I want MCs to become some cheap item fodder for Daily Chance? No. But I still want them to all have the ability to be released so users can obtain what they want.

Re-releasing one Monthly Collectible or Donation item through daily chance, is analogous to re-releasing all. They’ve implicitly made the most important pixels on the website fodder, again! rofl

I don't really think you understand who the userbase is in 2022. In majority it's already dedicated people who have been here for years and are still clinging onto what Gaia used to be/still sort of is. It's no longer children nor teenagers frequenting the site, most of us here are legit adults with work, families and other responsibilities. To put it shortly: ain't nobody got time to sit around and play games all day, vend, look for charities or do whatever else to reach a certain quota of virtual currency needed for an item just because one person is sitting on a thousand of copies and decided to artifically inflate the value of an item at one point. Those who are willing to put in the work will put in the work, but it's just stupid in the long run just cause someone decided they're gonna sell some pixels for an unrealistic amount of gold.

Y'all are fighting over pixels and virtual currency like it's your sole heritage.

Nothing has even been solidified or announced yet regarding this topic, but all these Angelic Halo's are crashing in value and y'all want to blame this thread?

Yes, but in moderation. Or maybe also make new MCs again, that'd be good s**t.

I have been checking out some of the different types of posts in this thread, but this point happened to grab my attention.

Honestly, this type of post strikes me as someone who will say "oh but I earned my super special prize because I put in the hard work of working the system efficiently enough to garner enough funds and screw everyone who has not. They need to suffer like me."

Because of...time...spent...on a dress-up site.

But using cash! Oh, no! How dare someone strike the "quick rich method" of....using their own money to keep the lights on Gaia and enjoy the serotonin rush of getting an item they've coveted for whatever reason.

People have come onto Gaia for many reasons, I get it. I come online to dress my avatar, try and get some art, enjoy the site that has long been a source of entertainment for me over the years, engage with all sorts of different users, and I enjoy supporting the site with my hard-earned money from my job by buying a lot of things directly, tickets included.

But to join a site to aim for exclusivity and lord it over others?

How extraordinarily childish and an asinine way to spend one's time.

What's the point of a dress-up site if users cannot obtain items to dress their avatar with because of people hording and continually making an attempt to jack up prices?

So what if new people come to the site and get an item that they really like or want because Gaia re-released them? Increasing site visibility because cool things are easier to obtain and a certain look is more achievable, and possibly hooking new users into sustaining the site through financial means so that others can play for free isn't really a bad thing.

My sentiments exactly! It's ridiculous how much people are making a big deal over fake currency, fake items, and a fake economy! Just because someone paid real-world money on something that will up and disappear if the site ever shuts down doesn't mean anyone is entitled to anything special!

Let the site rerelease whatever they want however they want if it means they can keep the site up and running. Cuz all those pixels mean nothing if the site shuts down. rolleyes

Your entitled to your opinion, and how you spend your time. The Gaia Exchange and Project Custom is all about the sentiment of acquiring and making coveted items. 🧠

Nostalgia keeps all millennials around, we are the originals who believed in exclusivity for MC’s. Monthly Collectibles are important to these 15,000 users who are no longer online:

Your entitled to your opinion. Nostalgia keeps us all around.

Are you certain you understand the term, "nostalgia"?

Nostalgia: : a wistful or excessively sentimental yearning for return to or of some past period or irrecoverable condition

If you are saying that there is a sentimental yearning of the past years on Gaia, and for you that means exclusive access to exclusive stuff, that's a pretty terrible thing to be nostalgic about. neutral

How are they important to those 15,000 users who no longer access Gaia anymore? This makes absolutely no sense.

Besides, the worth of an item can depend on many factors, besides nostalgia. There's the perceived monetary value that someone and/or group of individuals place on the pixel in question.

There's also sentimental value, especially for gifts given by friends long gone, or something gotten after a long quest.

Not to mention, there is also just liking the item and finding it valuable because it's useful to the individual in question for whatever reason.

Monthly Collectibles will always be the core of the website, to the original Gaian’s!
Maybe according to your interpretation as someone who joined in '08, sure.

Honestly, with this statement, it sounds dangerously close to the "no true scotsman fallacy"

This meaning, you are stating that to the original Gaians, MCs will always be the core of the website. Assuming every OG has the same opinion, of course.

Pretty general assumption if you ask me. Are the original Gaians' thoughts more important than people who came later? And is a "true" original Gaian going to make the statement that MCs are the core of the website?

I mean, logical fallacies aside and reading comprehension struggles that you seem to be making with my post, I'd have to say that declaring the following:
Chaos
Monthly Collectibles will always be the core of the website, to the original Gaian’s!

Is overlooking many important aspects of the site as well. From various communities and supporters to different types of art and forums, as well as the encouragement from others to be creative (within the ToS)....there's so much more to Gaia than what you are saying.
