User Image I just came back from a very long hiatus just to see my gold isn't worth that much anymore. sweatdrop The economy looks funny because an item worth 10k before now sells at 10 million right now. User Image

I have noticed that, the cost of everything is absolutely insane.
Now, can they explain why there are no listings in the mp for items that used to have pages of listings sweatdrop

That's just basic supply and demand. Lots of listings means there are (or, were) more people who want to sell that item than there are (were) people who want to buy at that price. Eventually, as sellers increase, the item price decreases to a point where there are more willing buyers than sellers and the amount of listings for sale in the MP begins to decrease as the item is bought up. Or, another possibility is that gold generators flooded the market faster than sellers could adjust the price of the item. An item that was out of reach for many interested buyers suddenly became accessible and was bought up rapidly. Either way, the supply dried up. sweatdrop

I apologize beforehand for my ignorance but can someone explain the gold generators? People cant buy them right? They are what can give me 100,000 when I hit the daily treat thing right? Also, why are they dishing out so much gold (I havent been on gaia for like 2 years)

Thank you! sweatdrop

Basically, Gold Generators are the term used to describe items on Gaia that gives you gold. On the contrary from RIGs (where you either get an item or gold), Gold Generators only pay out gold, and VERY much of it. You buy them (usually in the Cash Shop), you open them, and you get a random amount of gold. In other words: You're basically "buying" gold for real money. This lead to a lot of Gaians becoming filthy rich insanely quickly. And as Gaians become wealthier, the payout of the Gold Generators had to be increased, and so on... This is one of the major reasons for the hyperinflation here on Gaia.

Gaia has now "sort of" removed Gold Generators from the Cash Shop. They still pop up from time to time, but only a limited amount and you can choose if you want Gold or Charms. It's an improvement, but the damage is pretty much already done. sweatdrop

I hope that helped. heart

This is by far the most incredibly illustrated, explained, & simplified version of this story I've ever heard. Thank you for finally making things click!
