Kitty; After a few minutes of having BG installed and doing it's thing, all of my stuff closed on me and my computer shut down. I'm thinking that it's BG's fault, so I'm not going back. However, I miss it already. But, when I am sure that I can trust it again, I will get to downloading 3.0! 4laugh

BetterGaia can't do that... O.o;; That's not possible... It sounds like maybe your computer was doing something in the background and shut down by command (or possibly by not being told otherwise)... mine has done that before, my anti-virus is usually the culprit.

That issue happens because of the Sims 3 Ambitions: Start Hunting for Treasure event. It happens every time Gaia has you hunting for items throughout the forums and other pages. It's a known issue, but I don't know if it is being addressed in 3.0.

Also, there is an option in BetterGaia to "Resize images in forum posts". It is located under the Main tab in the Features section of the Options Panel. This will fix the horizontal scrolling problem.

:[ I don't really want an automatic resizing of images, I just want an option to choose between the page being in column or full-width format crying Because portions of guilds are stuffing up as well and anywhere where people are using a lot of list bbcode functions to shove their text over. Seriously hate the squished width that BG has =[ Only downfall and I don't want to resort to crushing all the images I come by just to make the horizontal scrolling disappear. I mean this is why I bought a 24" monitor, so I wouldn't have the width problems my laptop was giving me!

And so help me God, I shall keep bothering the creator of BG every couple of months until the feature finally exists and I can live in peace and ultimate enjoyment of Gaia! xd

Dju - I find that so very annoying as well. I also find that the posts are separated in different little boxes or whatever also contributes to that problem. I'm on the brink of switched back to Chrome.

Everyone's issue with the post width is a known issue. I know allvanishing is addressing it (hopefully in 3.0). I honestly don't even notice that images are resized because I don't come across it too often and it doesn't squish them. The images are scaled. It could at least be a temporary solution until 3.0 is released. The horizontal scroll bar would still appear when someone posts a string of words without spaces if it was long enough to stretch across 800px.

I've noticed the different in width between the guilds and the forums and I don't understand why Gaia didn't make them the same width to begin with... or for that matter, just make them the same as the forums... I really wish they would give some love to the guilds and update the code.

I really hope that it's addressed in v3 smile I was only bringing it up because AllVanishing's "its not exactly top of the list of updates" is still burning in my mind rofl

Annoyingly enough, I still know people who use blocks of _________________ as content dividers and they somehow believe that everyone has the same screen size as them so it will display perfectly, every time, and yet I have like.. horizontal scrolling galore rofl I've also seen it where people use imgleft/right. Sometimes the picture is too big and the paragraph literally runs two words across before it has to fall to another line, it's annoying, I just want to have an option of "full screen layout" and then it'll be fine xd

I tried to modify the code myself but it ended up too complicated with too many elements to address.

Ugh! I know what you mean. I tend to design for posting in the guilds, knowing that if it fits there, it will fit fine in the forums. As a rule, I stick to 750px wide. I think the guilds are smaller than that though because my current posting style breaks.

And yea, the forum width isn't a high priority, and that's annoying. I don't want it too much wider than it currently is, because I don't like reading forever on a single line, but I would like it to be about 850px wide. I can't even begin to imagine what it would take to write the code to affect the forum layouts (having read Gaia's CSS files myself)

I have a big monitor, so I want to use up all the screen real-estate that I can xd It'd be nice to be able to type in a set width, but I'd be totally satisfied with just an option that says "Forums 100% width" or whatever.

Reese, the link in your post style is advertising and could get reported, I'd really advise against putting it in your post style and slipping it in your sig instead; I learned that rule the hard way when I was warned for advertising in another thread because of my art shop guide link in my post.

I don't have a shop for posting styles, but I've been known to make them for people on a case by case basis. However, I'm on complete art hiatus right now (due to come back in September).

Also, without a link on the banner, you're safe. ...and did you know that the link points you to the very last post in the thread's first page? Just saying...

I recently bought a new 24" monitor too... no, wait... 22", but still... I got it because my last one was about 10 years old and dying fast! Sadly, my computer can't handle wide screen resolution, so even if BG had the "forum width: 100%" option, that would only be about 1280 wide =__=;; I'm stuck with full screen resolution (thank God this monitor has that function rather than just stretching the screen) until I can buy a new computer.
