So, here's my line of thinking, where it's been spinning for a while: Why does Gino have to run the company?
That was part of Johnny's vision.
He was driven to reshape the world, and for better or worse, he succeeded. But Gino... what are his dreams?
For the longest time, we've been told that he
wants to live up to his father's legacy, But he doesn't consider himself a businessman -- and maybe he's not, if you flip ahead a few more pages and see he decided to rebuild G-Corp without figuring out what it was actually doing. He's a little more honest and trusting, and he cares about the world beyond himself a great deal.
This gets really reinforced by his subconscious, where you might recall the disturbing dream where he was berating himself for
not being a clone of his father, including in being a shark in business
(... don't even get me started on the fact that there is a clone Gambino who admitted he has experience running the business. every time I get started on that tangent I can't get off)
Thanks to the Ghost Dad moment,
he was given reassurance... but about the strength of his character. I don't know about you, but I think part of the message there was that... the Isle of Gambino, G-Corp, everything, none of it was Johnny's true legacy. It was Gino, a strong heir who would carry the torch of ambition into the future.
Which means... I don't know. Ambition's about chasing dreams, and Gino's dream was picking up his father's mantle, not becoming a business mogul. In a way, it seems like it might be more appropriate for him to return to what he really enjoyed doing: Learning more about the world of Gaia.
