A Grombie is someone who was bitten by a parasite known as a Grunny during the Halloween 2005 event.
A Grunny is a green rabbit that was injected with the G virus in the underground testing facility at G CORP.
As we all know the G virus is a cell combiner created to bestow Johnny K Gambino's cell upon his son Gino to create the heir the Gambino family deserved.
It merges two samples of DNA embracing the strengths of both samples and repressing the weaknesses.
The Grunny injects the G virus into the bitten host starting the Grombification process.

(The Grunny chart from the H2k5 event)

Stage I.
A host is bitten by a Grunny and the virus is introduced into the system.

Stage II.
The host begins to loose control as the virus spreads to the brain.
Sluggish nature is noticed as the host experiences impaired motor function.

Stage III.
The Host's appearance changes as the Grunny DNA begins to merge with the host.
Eyes begin to turn red showing the first of many Grunny characteristics.
The host's eyes become lazy and it's skin goes pail as the host is completely incapacitated while
a Grunny embryo begins to grow in the brain.

IV.
The physical characteristics of the Grunny begin to become more obvious
as the host's eyes become larger and red.
The host's mouth and nose begin to take on a rabbit like appearance.
The Grunny's growth is more noticable as the ears poke through the host's head and it's body begins to show through the back of the host's head.

V.
The DNA transformation is complete as the eyes, nose and mouth are fully Grunnified.
The newly born Grunny hangs from the host's head and controls it.

I also want a green rabbit clamped to my skull. :B

I think they are cool, but there should be something like a counter animal against the Grunnies. :O

Actually the Grunny does not latch on to the host, the Grunny itself develops within the hosts brain and hatches out the back.
Seeing the back of a Grombie avatar at each stage makes this very apparent.

So I'd say a full formed Grombie is indeed pretty dead, yet being controlled by the Grunny.

If the Grunny grew inside the host's head then the host's brain would be completely destroyed by the time the Grunny
reached full size.

It hatches out the back, and the back of the brain is indeed destroyed.

The back of a stage two grombie shows the shape of a grunny inside the head and the two lumps at the top are the ears of the grunny growing inside.

It just doesn't make as much sense for the grunny to come out of the head.
In the picture that Gaia made of the x-ray shows clearly the Grunny's tounge
inside the brain spreading the virus.
If the Grunny grew inside the head the brain would be destroyed and
in that pic it is clearly not.

Plus the size of the hole in the head would be alot larger if the grunny had to escape through it.

I'm not saying that isn't how it's done I'm just saying it's alot less likely.

I'd love to see a pic of the back of a level five's head though.

You mean a level four, the back of a level five just shows the grunny.
There's no 'likely' to it, that's how it was shown, so that's how it is.
The grunny bites the host, infects them with the new hybrid G-virus, the virus causes another grunny to grow from the brain.
As far as I know, Gaia doesn't specialise in x-rays, they don't have to be perfect.

Plus when the Grunny invasion first started they didn't "hatch" out of anyone's heads.

Perhaps they infect like I said then once the infected human bites a non infected human the
grunny starts to grow inside of them.
That could be a very simple solution to how they reproduce.

I've always had the notion that the Grunny bit you, spread the virus that then centered in the brain where the new Grunny grew. Then as it became bigger it cracked the skull and latched onto the bran and back of the head, in a sense sustaining the host as well as eating on you.

I also always had the notion that grombies are far smarter then any normal zombie.

That X-ray can very well be a biting Grunny that's just injecting the Virus that will then grow into a new Grunny.
