I've been around for a long time...(my original account was hacked) but I was here through Goldemort and the rise of gold gens. I never bought them outright of course but I'm guilty of using them when I pulled them from rigs. I wasn't aware they had been censoring people talking about him back then though. That was news to me.

I definitely agree with making more videos...maybe like weekly updates and such would help bring traffic in. Lots of younger folk randomly browse youtube so it could help bring in a new userbase. The site does need a rehaul though. It's full of dead forums and dead threads. If we're not supposed to revive old threads, move them to a locked forum of sorts only for viewing purposes. The biggest issue to me is lack of users. More users helps generate income and brings in ideas to help the site grow again.

Yes, we need a new generation of users, I wish they move into a mobile gaia app, updated flash area or two and just go back to the old school way of advertising. new story plots maybe?

I was half tempted to make a thread about this days ago, but thought someone else would do it eventually. Goldemort is a scumbag and I'm glad he's gone.

a fun little Gaia history lesson for you, courtesy of someone who was on this site all day every day in her teen years.

be honest: how many of y'all either got online today or saw someone get online today because of this video. ...no, really, I'm curious if I affected traffic at all.

You bet your turkey that I came back just to see a thread talking about your video. Insane how I log in and I just received 500 million gold for no reason

Been here since 06, never did leave.

I really miss when it was more popular. I hope the inclusion of HTML5 and redoing the old games into it will at least make the place a bit more interesting.

It's outlived Tinierme and Ernya, and I'm honestly surprised at that.

Shirtless Streaker

This showed up in my google recomends and someone said u made a topic in GCD.

Good video, accurate depiction of our glorious history.

Sad to see a lot of Gaia videos focus so much on the flash games tho when CB is the best place to be on gaia.
I literally logged on just to see what this sites like after watching this video lmao

Question: Well..How's the site doing?

Your video definitely brought me back today... The feeling of nostalgia that overwhelmed me was insane. I think your video was a beautiful ripple from YouTube into the stagnant pond of Gaia. This game was my life! I shared precious memories with close friends on this site and I'm kinda sad that I can't turn back time to experience it all over again. To this day I also find dressing up avatars fun and refreshing for me. It's like one of the only outlets of creative expression that was therapeutic. I felt so much freedom in being able to become anything I wanted and Roleplay was huge for me as well. Thank you for the blast from the past!!! I hope and pray for Gaiaonline so it may prosper and become a home to new users. Fingers crossed for mobile accessibility on my end because I only have a phone to access the site now adays.

I've been checking in more often lately after disappearing for a few years but seeing the video definitely made me come back to the forums to see what was up. My first account was from 2005/06 so I showed up during the "Golden Age" I guess.

It was definitely a fun little jog down memory lane until I was forcefully made to remember who Boxxy was. emo

I came back a few days ago for giggles and to see if any of my old online friends had logged recently. We're at the end of a decade, I'm 25 now and that comes with adult levels of nostalgia. I had my first queer relationship because of Gaia. There were a lot of good memories tucked in, most of which are actually archived in locked threads.

I first heard about gaia probably around '05-'06 but didn't create an account til '07. I logged most days for 6-10 hours, usually at night, up until '11. Since, I have only logged in a few times in 2017 and this week. This is in fact my first forum post since '11.

I think I might try to stay, if I can find regular community interaction and engagement again. Heck I might even be able to make steady plat off of art now that I have 13 more years of drawing experience...

I really enjoyed this video though, it was super useful for filling in some gaps regarding what happened to the site, and I ugly laughed at some of the screencaps and your commentary.

Real talk, that video randomly got recommended to me today and I logged in because of it~

It was an interesting look at the whole situation. Just seeing it all laid out reminded me of how disheartening it was to stand alongside other users and beg for reasonable solutions, only to watch bad decision after bad decision be made and not be able to do anything about it. From about 2003 up until maybe 2011-2013, I'd log on every single day and hang out for hours at a time, but nowadays... not so much. Since about 2014, I have short bursts maybe once a year where I'll log in for a couple of days or a week or two before drifting away again.

Part of it is definitely most of my friends on here having long since moved on, but the lack of things to do and the huge drop in overall activity also affects it as well. It makes me a little sad just because of how great this place once was and how it's such a far cry from its prime these days.

The video was well researched and pretty much summed up everything accurately, well done.

Makes me want to watch the other series of "Downfall" videos again ninja *wink* wink*
Yesss! I loved your video (just finished watching it not too long ago)! And I totally logged back on today because of it. heart
