Because a while back on tumblr, someone made a picture post of himself holding a piece of toast in a running pose with the caption "s**t IM LATE FOR ANIME SCHOOL"

which was a parody that its a really common anime entrance where were always introduced to the protagonist as shes late for her first day of school


to say it took off would be an understatement, people parodied it with everything from canada (while holding a bottle of maple syrup in their mouth) to really...everything.
