Now you're being an a*****e and attempting to compare apples and oranges. This isn't a malicious joke. It doesn't hurt anyone. We knew full well when we entered that we'd get voted down. But we don't care, and it's our gold.
And now you are flaming. neutral Maybe YOU should calm down a tad?

Which chicken are you anyways...?

I'm perfectly calm. I just call a spade a spade. If he's being one, I say so.

Saying which one I am would ruin the joke. I'll sit on it. Bawk bawk.
Resorting to childish namecalling can be considered flaming though, and does little to help prove your point.

And it wouldn't ruin the joke. rolleyes Other chickens used their mains to enter, they didn't ruin it did they? You just don't want to share, no biggie. xd

Firstly, they've disrupted the Hot Avatars, removing other avatars from the spotlight for each and every time they appear in the Top Avatars.

That's not disruption. Sometimes ugly avatars get into the spotlight and remove pretty ones. So what?

Calmer
Secondly, there's going to be a lot of confusion about this anyway. There's already questions of whether it's a glitch, and what the hell is going on.

I don't see this confusion, and it's fairly obvious that it's a joke. Glitches don't work like this.

Calmer
Thirdly, people don't spend a lot of time in the AvA rating anyway. So, if half the Hot Avatars they see are Chickens, chances are, they're not going to stick around long for some stupid joke when it's hard to find decent avatars.

Again, 32 out of 2000. The chances of running into one repeatedly is unlikely and depends on how you're voting. Also, you're making assumptions about how people will act. Got proof?

Calmer
And lastly, there will be the people like me. I am sick and tired of watching people mess around with the Arena. I really do not want to participate in a Gaia feature when people are going to treat it like this. The Avatar Arena is designed to be used by anyone: not for some clique of AvAs to mess around and put other people off it, because they feel it simply isn't going to be based upon what it's supposed to be based on: avatar style.

Right, because it's all about YOU. I forgot that part. And the Internets is serious business. rolleyes

The only thing Avatar Arena was designed to do was to let people submit their avatars to be voted on. We submitted our avatars to be voted on. Style is subjective. I personally think that our avatars were VERY stylish, and the description, title, and keywords added to that stylishness.

I'd stick around and listen to the whining more, but I have a class that's halfway across campus.

I don't see HOW this is unfair UNLESS they place. You can't possibly know that that will happen.

Sorry, I don't understand. How do you think "HOT AVATARS" works? neutral

The Arena every week, without fail, has entries with people wearing nothing more than the default undies... no outrage there. No people are more content with spamming their comments with 'You wasted 1K noob'.

Lets not forget the sexy foxy nurses, or the Evil Angels that are there every damn week in the hundreds. Or the people who cosplay Lugi with a coco on his head gonk
And? Again, these are all individually created and applied. There is no intent to make an impact on the Arena with them.

But they do make an impact on the arena, if you are voting and you come across the same kind of avatar time and again (in the hundreds), it makes a big impact. Take last week for example with the red scarf, there were so many Red Ninjas... it made voting awful.

Perhaps the Chicken Men can be seen as a protest against the types of avatars I listed.

kiironobara shouldn't be getting into an argument that goes nowhere though. Calmer's mind won't be changed, so what's the incentive to refute?

Only to try and one-up each other for public pwnage. That never works. It's just endless back and forth until someone eventually has to leave, and the other person gets the last word and declares themselves victor by default.

Your analogy fails.
Asserting does not make it so. Give proof of the manner in which my analogy fails.

Now, you say that something "fun" doesn't make it fun for everyone, and I agree... However, the manner in which you expressed the analogy
Quote:
Fun hey? I hear those two kids who got ahold of automatic weaponry and fired it into passing traffic also did that for fun. icon_3nodding.gif

makes it seem like our little artistic vandalism was something akin to shooting at passing traffic with automatic weaponry. Your analogy FAILS because you fail at expressing it properly by veing too vague and ambiguous. Your analogy is good in concept, but poor in execution. I rate it with a 4, because the execution means a lot. Next time, work on it better, so we can give it a better rating.

The fact that it's not fun for everyone, and that it is something harmless, abstract and entirely fictional makes it a million times more hilarious.

I'd say our Chickens are quite convenient!
You've managed to find an alternate definition for the word convenient. Bravo?

I find your comment unconvenient.

If I remember correctly, omgwhat explained that the [one of the] algorithm for the Hot Avatar spotlight involves the regularity of votes on an avatar. Chickens accost a lot of regular votes, hence why people were able to provide a large number of screenshots of the, "Connect Chickens," game.

That's odd. The first post of the topic in AvA about this seems confused about the glitch.

a) Again, biased by the algorithm for the Hot Avatars selection, so it is going to arise more.
b) Well, several of the early pages of this thread attest to people's annoyance with the AvA. Although I accept it's not a full demographic, I think it' enough to give evidence to a point.

kiironobara

Myself, amongst others. And however many times that catchphrase is spewed, it doesn't help anythign.

When I saw the first chicken avatar, I thought it was worth maybe a 7 or 8, a 9 if I rated using Descriptions. And indeed, that's what I would have rated it if it had been a solo entry.
I started the cloning way back.

I'm just such a trendsetter. cool

A protest doesn't make it feasible.

Every day, repeat and bump topics are made in ED.

Do you think we should all go into ED and post, "REPEAT/BUMP TOPICS ARE NOT ALLOWED," topics?

Thing is, the last time that happened, everyone got warned.

This relies upon your inference, rather than my implication. As such, it does not merit itself as a proof.

I think it would be harmless (and indeed very funny) if it were operated on a private server version of the AvA.

I think it might be less harmful if the Chickens were to enter AT and occasionally ask for rates - but not in excess - thus adding to the legend.

I think this is a matter in much the same way you object to my analogy: that it had merit, and it had amusement value, but the execution and manner of execution dimmed that.

Then give the person who masterminded it that rate, and the rest 1's if you want?
Wow, you guys are too funny! xd

I wish my life was so boring and uneventful, that I could justify getting so outraged at funny pixels on a screen.

Maybe when some of you get in to the real world, you'll realize this was all just a pretty funny joke. I know the "Internet is Serious Business!!" to you people and all, but this is just silly.

Oh - and to the people who actually said "This makes me sick to look at it!" - you're so precious! I can't believe how much righteous indignation you people can muster over something so trivial. Guys, get off the computer, go outside, and talk to some real people. It's nice out, it'll do you good to get out of your basements and interact with a little something the rest of us call "reality."

Eugh. That's just aggravating. I personally don't use the Avatar Arena -- mainly because of the downvoting that I often receive from people who don't like donation items -- but I can see why that would be incredibly annoying to somebody who did use it and agree with everything that you've said.

It's always the case that people have to ruin everybody else's fun. Of course, I'm sure the fact that they're becoming even more 'popular' amongst those who like to rate avatars probably never entered their minds when they decided to pull such a stupid stunt. rolleyes

Considering that many of those people are ATers, I wonder if we should put it to them -- in a purely hypothetical and non-malicious situation, obviously -- how they would like it if 32 people all dressed in exactly the same way and made 32 different threads saying exactly the same thing? I understand that, as part of the forum and not a feature, it'd probably get deleted for being spam and repeat topics, but isn't it exactly the same in essence? It certainly matches each of the points that you mentioned as being reasons for it being a ridiculous prank.
Deazy
You do realise that this isn't even original?

There has been two instance that I can recall of, Jess-clones (amusingly done) and then there were the Death clones... not as many of them but it has been done before.

Why wasn't there mass outrage about those then?.
I think I love you Deazy. 3nodding heart
