TinierMe was a complicated Mess.

We got it by it going through about three companies. Two of those companies were pulling out and off to things. One wanted to stop having online games. One wanted to shut down. One was going to switch this to that. One was being absorbed back into something.

Ultimately, TinierMe was doomed no matter what we did because all these companies in this chain were pulling out. TinierMe didn't have enough time to be bought up by another company. Another company really should have come in and snatched it up.

But, we had all those other problems at the same time. So while Tinier Me was getting extensions in their existence through the Chaos, the changes in price and it being a small community damaged it. They already let go of their employees in like Summer or something. Because some companies in the chain were that devoted to giving up. So we had some random people working as employees from I don't even know where and there were a lot of translation issues.

Pretend we were on the Titanic but sleeping when it bumped into the Iceberg. Most users were in the dark with this Chaos going on from company to company to company. But we were doomed and things were damaged more by price changes.

Meanwhile, on one of the Japanese versions. They have Poses and Animated Poses now. You can see one makes your avatar skip into frame and skip out of frame. rofl We couldn't join the Japanese Version because of law changes in Japan that were intended to slow down criminals. Last summer the rules changed and now the IP restriction has been lifted so you can join this Japanese Tinier Me.

I never liked the american version, the japanese is more fair and fun thought I have to use google translate for quests.

TinierMe shut down because parents complained kids wasted too much money on pixels

They sure did rake in a good amount of money though in the final days!

I don't know about that. I never played it because you were forced to spend cash to get amazing items.
Unlike the japanese version that give a lot of free cosplay and nice items during free events and sponsors. The american version was always like a pay to play website. Gaia is not, If you want to complain stop blaming everything on Gaia. GG aren't listing items for insane prices , cash users are, greedy MP sellers are. And I really doubt Gaia will shut down soon , if people are going to quit it wouldn't be cash users. I also hate inflation so much but ultimately I blame the cash users.

I'm just curious is the Japanese version still around?
I remember logging into Tinierme and seeing a new Gacha daily it was somewhat tempting at first but after playing for as long as I did I think it became more of a oh look another Gacha thing instead of a "WOW COOL!"

Yeah, it's still around it's called atgames but yoi can only go into using a link. It won't appear if you search it on google , Just look for someone posting the link somewhere. After that start relying on translate websites because hardly anything is in english. There is a lot of gachas but just go around and do limited offers and some do give nice items. Im not sure which ones are still around I haven't played it for a while. Plus their gachas are terrible, the only ones the users actually pay for is the cosplay gachas. They also have a mobile version that is different and nice, it's called pocketland or something like that, it has A LOT of nice items. And lots of quests to do, but theyre in japanese so you'll need to translate that too.

That's very unlikely the reason why it shut down. Many people on that site were actually adults. I knew a guy who blew just over 5k on the site in total.

Here is the likely explanation for why it closed down:
"The most possible reason is an incident in Japan involving gachas on online game sites, stated that the certain "game mechanics are illegal" because the gachas on websites in Japan (gachas are on other websites in different forms, not only on TinierMe if you didn't already know that) are possibly prompting users to pay extreme fees just to play gachas."

    Source

I'm not clicking it because a lot of myths are going around and that's what I expect.

What was happening was that Gacha Stores and people with Gacha Machines were taking out the Rares and keeping them. This was making some people spend insane amounts and never or rarely get a Rare at outrageous rates. Japan went through a lot of stuff and made some laws. Now you have to supply the rates some where and you are not allowed to tamper with rates. If you do you have to clearly display content.

Tinier Me Japan began displaying rates. America's rates were worse when they tried displaying rates. Anyways, all the Gacha now have Rates displayed and those rates have to be followed. When something goes wrong, Japanese companies usually compensate. So if the Rares weren't working right on a game, then they may give people free plays to play again after it's fixed or they may give gifts to people that played before it was fixed. [ Some offer a "Pick a Rare" where you pick exactly the item you want.]

    Here are the rates http://www.atgames.jp/atgames/html/shop_gacha/gacha/2014/02/20140214_gachaGP_item_probability_list.html

Uh... I wouldn't say the items released in the final months of TinierMe were more visually attractive.

Personally I thought anything that was made for release on TinierMe site first (as opposed to the things just transferred over from @games) was kind of off looking with colors that didn't really work well with many things other than the other Gachas made to be release on TinierMe first.

If I remember right, back when TinierMe closed and a bunch of people from there came here didn't Gaia staff of some sort end up saying that they would never pull that kind of stunt on Gaians?

    Now on to these:

Neither of those is correct. The first one is just silly, as look at all the phone games that encourage people, often children, to spend money.

The second one is also incorrect as TinierMe and @games both ended up changing some of their Gacha play mechanics in order to fit with Japanese laws (the Complete Sheet being a big one, this is also why TinierMe and @games started listing the odds for the items in the Gachas). If they hadn't then NEITHER site would exist anymore. And TinierMe would have closed sooner than it had if that was the reason anyway.

The ultimate speculation ended up being the fact that @games got a new CEO who was reportedly... well... there's no way to sugar coat it, prejudice against Americans, so they terminated the American program. Though it's possible it's not the case.

All I can say is that the first two are absolutely wrong.

Also on that note, if anyone did like TinierMe and would like to play it again... er... sort of... and has an iPhone or Android phone look up CocoPPa. They'll be adding a sister game at the end of this month on iPhone (end of next month on Android) that uses @games sprites and such. No idea how it's going to work exactly and honestly I wouldn't bother spending money on it myself after what happened with TinierMe (I'm not much for paying for things I already had stare ).

I think Gaia is just trying to find a business model where they make a profit, instead of operating in the red like it has for most of the time. I think they're being very heavy handed and really need to fine tune some of their practices, but hopefully as they start making more money they'll be able to balance things out better. Since they've hired back some of the artists, here's hoping. Now let's hope they'll hire more devs and programmers soon.
I have never heard of that site. I do hope Gaia will not sink ship at all.. I love Gaia and still do and have since I was a teen

Criminals were using servers in Japan to store a variety of things including Child Pornography. INB4 it wasn't Japanese Porn and it wasn't Cartoons, Russia has been having problems with Child Pornography being used with Toddlers. Some rings the youngest victims saved were under 2 years old at the time they were saved. They were using servers in Japan to store it.

So Japan had to restrict IPs for a couple years because of that and some other incidents (idiots in games and similar things).

The Japanese Tinier Me was a little more laid back but then they blocked people from signing up and they updated rules saying current users outside of Japan couldn't use their service any more ( legally).

I think the gacha thing was where you had to have all the prizes to be eligible for prizes or something, like complete gacha? And apparently people were so insane about gacha prizes there was a law made for it? I'm assuming it wasn't just atgames though. Apparently people were spending ALL THE MONEY to complete the gacha for the complete gacha prize, and the govermenty people were all HAHAHA NO or something.

Not really sure what was with tinierme dying though.

    I really hope not...

hmhmhm more staff to handle the flow of requests new games and more MMO's that don't totally suck!

That and gaia could do with a 3D fighting game that you can dress up customize and battle the online world with your avatar @A@ (( gaia could be on the same ladder as WoW if they did an MMO well enough thats not kiddish to a degree of NOPE))

I miss Kenny and a few others already! It will take gaia a while to get things sorted and HIRE people to help those dev's have a better time helping us.
