Good day, citizens! We in the Gaians in Black have been conducting our own investigations all across Gaia over the years. We have amassed so much information in this time, we have decided to finally post it publicly in a series of threads we are calling the GIB Case Files. Why don't you have a look? Feel free to discuss the topics brought up in this thread. Be warned of course, if any GiB agent feels you have seen too much, you are subject to a memory wipe. It's nothing personal. Just the way we do business.

#062: The Kuro Gang

This file is one of particular interest. It focuses on the Kuro Gang. Our sources say the Kuro Gang is a powerful crime syndicate composed of Dark Elves based within the City of Durem and headed by one Don Kuro Luca. The organization’s existence was first revealed to the Gaian public in mid-July of 2008, when some of its members agreed to represent Durem in the Gaian Rejected Olympics. Since then we have seen them time and again pop up across Durem. While the organization's influence is undoubtedly immense, it's still unknown exactly how deeply the dark elves are involved in world events current and past. Currently, the Kuro Gang is actively trying to assassinate Gino Gambino, sole heir to the Gambino fortune.

The Gaians in Black work tirelessly to continuously monitor all activity from the Kuro Gang on a daily basis.

TLDR: Just talk about the Kuro Gang, bro.

Name: Don Kuro Luca
Aliases: The Don, Luca Kuro, Don Kuro, or just "Kuro".
Position in Kuro Gang: Leader.
Age: ~800
General Appearance: His coloration is stark, with dark grey skin, long white hair braided back, and gold eyes. At 800 years old, he looks more like a child than the leader of a cutthroat organization of dark elves, though this doesn't reflect at all in his demeanor and policies. He is somewhat sickly, a result of the curse on his family.
Other Information: Luca was the prince and heir to the Kuro Dynasty, but his mother had a secret tryst with a Vampire. Such a union was forbidden by Elvish law, and she and her line was banished including the young Luca. Older brother to Cordell. Is often seen with a brown owl named Caesar. The owl sometimes imitates his expressions. Has had a personal grudge against the Gambino family for a long time, though the reasons behind the grudge are currently unknown. Currently he is sending his people after Gino Gambino. Owes Devin a series of favors for his tattoos, the most recent of which being joining Durem's team in the Gaian Olympics. Has confessed to having a 'huge mother complex'. Luca wears a pendant that belongs/belonged to his mother, and the portrait of 'Mommy Kuro', as she has been dubbed, is more than likely of her. [x] There has been talk, rumors that the Don is losing his mind. He has ties to the occult, specifically the infamous Nyx. He blood summons Nyx. Perhaps his recent actions have been influenced by Nyx? He has grown weak and frail from the summonings and the strain of keeping Nyx in Gaia. The Don is definitely slipping. The relationship with his sister are strained.




Name: Cordell Kuro
Aliases: none
Position in Kuro Gang: Currently unknown. Former lieutenant.
Age: Less than 800 years. Exact age unknown. She was born "centuries ago".
Genral Appearance: tall, slender, dark grey skin and snow white hair. eyes are bright turquoise. flat-chested. She is sometimes mistaken as a man.
Misc. Information: Cordell is Luca's younger sister. unlike Luca, however, she is Half-Vampire. their mother spurned her noble husband and loved a Vampire, who was sentenced to death. she killed the executioner, saving her lover, but he ran away into the night. the Kuro clan was exiled and cursed, becoming unable to bear the sunlight and their skin became ashen. Cordell has an uncanny empathy, and can read a person's personality flawlessly. However, she is not so keen at reading a person's potential. She is particularly aware of what drives Vampires. Cordell seems to have some mixed loyalties; her love for her brother is absolute, though she fears that he is walking too dangerous a path. She seems to be falling in love with Zhivago, but this is unconfirmed.




Name: Franco
Aliases: "The Fish"
Position in the Kuro Gang: Lieutenant (as of Cordell's demotion.)
General Appearance: Broad shouldered, dark skinned, and roguish, Franco has white hair like the rest of the clan. He is taller than Cordell, and reasonably muscular. Golden Eyes.
Misc. Information: Franco was the go between from the Don to the Kuro Gang members in the 2012 Halloween Event. [x] He represented the Dark Elf team for the Don to all of Gaia. Not much else is known about him other than the Kuro trusted him over his own sister with the position as Lieutenant. Speaks well of the Don.
"A freelancing member of the Kuro gang. His disloyalty might land him in hot water, if Don Kuro ever finds out..." [x] Makes us wonder where his loyalties do lie.




Name: Faris
Aliases: Dr F Kale
Position in Kuro Gang: Gang Member. Trusted enough to do important tasks.
General Appearance: Blue skin, long dark hair. Wears one red earring. Somewhat slight in shape. Often wears big sunglasses.
Misc. Information: Faris was one of the first Kuro Gang members seen in the manga. [x] He was a loyal servant of the Don. So loyal, in fact, that he was chosen to go on a special mission. He left a package full of explosives in H&R Wesley on the Don's Orders. Because Louie saw him, he was identified and had to go into hiding. Then the people of Gaia found him under his alias Dr F Kale. He was arrested on the spot. Later his blood was found in his cell, but no Faris. He is presumed dead.

"A wannabe member of the Kuro gang, trying to prove herself worthy. Unfortunately, she's too timid to even approach them about a job." [x]

Zhivago

Zhivago. Former Von Helson Henchman. Vampire. Mercenary for the Kuro Gang. He is their assassin.

Since the fall of the Von Helson empire, Zhivago has served the Kuros, all be it begrudgingly. Money is money.

He wears a magical glove, probably a weapon given to him by his employer, that gave him the ability to finally bring an end to Johnny K. Gambino. It has a crescent moon. Upon completing his task of assassinating Gambino, he tried to remove the glove but could not. The results were quite painful. He was no longer just employed by the Kuros, but enslaved.

Next, he took out Meili while on the Kuro payroll. Probably countless others.

Zhivago and the Don don't see eye to eye. In fact, Zhivago doesn't seem to get along with anybody. Except Cordell. She is the only person he bothered to warn. The only person with whom he has shared his past.

Or his plans.

He will finish the Don's orders to kill Gino. Then, he plans to Kill Edmund, the man responsible for his scar.

Perhaps then the glove will be satisfied.






Crecento is not a proper member of the Kuro Gang, however he is employed by the Kuros.

His dark skin, gold eyes and white hair makes me wonder if he could not be a member of the Kuro family that managed to miss out on the curse somehow. Why else would he work for them? This is purely speculation, of course.

Nicolae is hired by Crecento to help him do the job for Luca, but he is also really out for himself and secretly subverting Crecento and Luca's machinations. he probably seeks to gain from playing both sides, or perhaps he knows what Nyx is up to. Nicu is very mysterious... he's an important piece of the puzzle.




Nyx. (From an Agent's Field Journal.)

A terrible force, feared by all other gods of all kinds.

What is his powers? Most have forgotten. Though he seems to use the power of the crescent moon somehow.

Why is he feared? Because all remember to fear him. The demigods Overseer and Sentinel seem to know much, but tell little.

In Greek mythology, Nyx is the Primordial Goddess of Night. But Nyx in the world of Gaia, seems to be a force of terror.

He seems to have the symbol of the crescent moon as the source of his power, yet there is already a Gaia goddess of the night and moon, Lunaris. The Moon is hers, and Nyx is a major contradiction.

The ritual to summon Nyx, and to become with him, involves a kind of symbol (similar to this) that involved the crescent moon. It is not clear what the symbol looks like exactly, none of the agents within the Kuro Gang has seen the whole thing. But one thing is know, to summon him, you must shed your own blood. It also seems in order for Nyx to return, he needs a host body.

In my investigations, it is probable that Nyx is a false god, a demon, hence his similarities to the cliche depictions of the hoofed demons, and he has what seems to be scales for skin. He may use the crescent moon as his symbol, but it is not his to use. he is a liar, and cheat, and must be using Luca Kuro as a puppet for his supposed greater purpose.

Yes, through my analyses, he appears to be a powerful demon, one even gods fear.


Others:

Until recently, the vampires were the Kuro's hired muscle. That changed when the Don threatened Louie's life. A turf war followed.

Humans and other Gaians of all types worked for the Don back during Halloween 2k12.

"Centuries ago, the Kuro clan was among the most wealthy and powerful elven families. Our people enjoyed all the comforts of nobility, but our mother pined for something more. She sinned against the deepest traditions of our people. She rejected her high-born husband and fell in love with the wrong man--not only a servant, but a vampire. It was a scandal. She was forbidden from seeing her lover under threat of exile. As for the young vampire, he fate was worse. For daring to consort with an elf, he was sentenced to death. Our mother, consumed by her passion, struck down the executioner. Her lover fled into the night. The Kuro clan was branded traitors. We were exiled and cursed. When we fled to the underground, our radiant brown skin began to grow patches of grey. The curse was visited most heavily on the clan's male heir, the product of our mother's doomed marriage. You were a sickly boy; your growth was stunted in childhood. The gods only know why I was spared--perhaps my vampire half absorbed the burden. Our mother knew there was only one path to freeing you from the curse. She set out for our homeland to offer her life in exchange for a cure. She wouldn't return, but our family would know if she succeeded if the curse was lifted. Our family waited. As the weeks became years, our hope was lost: the curse would not be lifted. It took us completely. Our family's skin lost all its warmth. The sun burned out eyes. We were forever doomed to live underground, hiding from the light."

The Kuro's family motto is "Non revertar inultus" which translates to "I shall not return unavenged." The symbol is the owl and crossed swords and shield. The clan colors are as of yet unconfirmed. See crest right.

The exile and cursing of his clan led Luca to create the Kuro Gang. The Gang is Luca's attempt at restoring the glory of his people, cursed to be Dark Elves, and to that end he seeking revenge on his enemies--the vampires.

The Kuro gang was revealed to the Gaian populous during the 2008 rejected olympics to serve Durem as a favor to Devin. [x]

Their exploits have set them against the Gambino empire. For unstated reasons, both have their eye on each other. Zhivago, hired by the gang, was equipped to wipe out the Gambino family. So far, he has been responsible for the assassination of Johnny Gambino. [x] At the current moment, he is after Gino Gambino. Zhivago, presumed under Kuro Orders, was responsible for the first attempt.

Edmund's resistance against the gang and protection of Gino made him and his store a target. [x] An explosive was left to blow up in the summer of 2012 at H&R Wesley to make a statement. [x] Thanks to Louie's quick reflexes, no one was hurt. The criminal responsible, Faris, was found by us Gaians [x] and arrested. Unfortunately, before one of our agents could speak with him for questioning, his blood was found in his cell and he was simply gone. [x] Faris is presumed dead.

The Don had already begun to send his allies, the vampires, out on ridiculous tasks. When they failed, he would have them assassinated. This led to a strain between the the two groups. When the Don made an obvious attack on Louie, the Von Helson heir, the vampires split from him completely and have since been at odds. [x] [x] The vampires lost the battle against the Dark Elves, but only time will tell if that is the end of it.

Our sources believe Zhivago is still out there searching for Gino. Recently, Gaia 9 Action News [x] revealed Gino has been murdered though few details have yet to surface. Edmund has released a statement on the matter, however that stated "Gino was like a son to me, and I vow to bring those responsible to justice." Zhivago plans to kill Gino, then Edmund.

Luca has been dabbling in the occult and has partially summoned the dreaded Nyx to our world by some form of blood ritual. [x] As he connects our two worlds, he becomes weaker and weaker. The Don is acting as Nyx's vessel. [x] We theorize Luca is trying to use Nyx's power to exact his revenge, however the small Don doesn't realize he is a mere pawn himself. Nyx is using the Kuro gang to come into this world and do something wicked, but what?

They were the cause of their banishment as well what happened to them. And the reason for their mother's death? But their mother loved a vampire who only loved her back.

I always wondered if Cordell has any vampire powers or not. I don't think we ever saw that did we?

I'm interested to know how the story unfolds. I think if Nyx is some sort of demon his possession of Luca means that Luca had a little bit of the crazies to start but a switch was flipped once Nyx started influencing him.

oh lordy I just got some weird iron man cray vibe where tony stark's suit is struck by lightning and becomes alive and then has this terrible abusive relationship in teh comics

...I don't know if writers/artists would pull that dark cord or not

but considering how scary nyx is...it would have had to be some very hard sought info

I'm pretty certain everything Luca does is all about his mother. It's been mentioned and shown a few times in the past, though always as a running gag, that he's a momma's boy. I wouldn't surprise me at all that he's doing all of this(if any of it is true) to bring her back, and take her curse away. And most likely destroy all who did things to her and stood against her. I mean Devon and Nico both have mentioned their mother. It makes me wonder if they have met her before and so her death or disappearance is recent or they just know Luca very well.

As for Cordell, while it's true Vampires on Gaia don't seem like that can do a lot, at the same time I'm pretty sure they can do things others can't do. The bat thing, sure, but also keep in mind that Zhi could actually stretch his arms out to grab people.(though that was only shown once I think in the comic) They're fast of course and super strong. Cordell may not have blood thrust or what, but she could have vampire speed and strength. I mean, she wields a sword. Just THINK of how she can use those powers in her other life skills.

Which does make me wonder now. How long has their mother been gone, and how long has the Kuro's and the Vampires been not getting along? Before the war that is.
