Addressing the gaia_spoons now that I've gotten over having to pick between Sour Apple and Plastic Beach, aka my own personal saw trap:

Stats:

True Randomization for Round 1 is fine if the goal is to determine the #1 top color scheme, because in the end there can only be one. If the goal is to get a ranking, it might have been better to start with an all-schemes poll (where people vote for their top 3) and arrange the initial brackets between color schemes of equivalent popularity. Wouldn't necessarily have had a big impact on the last ones standing, but now I suspect some schemes eliminated in Round 1 would have normally made it to the last few.

Color Schemes:

I'm rooting for Wispers, my new best friend. I mean in my heart I'm rooting for Sour Apple above all, but it's going to get nuked early on, so Wispers it is.

I think some sample avatars are absolutely abysmal representations of the schemes (SORRY), especially when fantasy skintones/body mods make it unclear whether those colors are part of the scheme itself. I think it would have been preferable to use the same avatar base everywhere, no companion pose, and no background/foreground poses. Like, a "neutral" face, a default skin tone, just matching clothes/accessories/hair. Might also have helped to outline the colors included in each scheme, because it seems obvious but there were a handful I was certain I'd already voted for/against (turns out there was another hue thrown into the mix).

This is gonna come off kind of strong, but I'm not sure why you'd even bother submitting the form if you knew you were voting for avatars rather than the schemes themselves. That will have some effect on the results, especially if there are tallies close enough that your vote was a tie-breaker.

Oh I went in to see the list.. and voted for the ones I like.

But i cannot submit unless i select one for each pair listed. So if Im not familiar with the scheme, I just based the vote on which one looks nicer. Didn't know the poll is only for those who knows all the schemes listed. sweatdrop

Dang, some of my favorite schemes really got pitted against each other and made me have to think pretty hard.

This was pretty fun though! I suspect the number one scheme will be something like offchrome/pure/catharsis, but I'm curious to see how a lot of the less popular schemes end up faring.

I only base the schemes I don't use with how much it needed to appear and if it fits on today's recent items.

Sapphire vs Sunset was really hard for me of all questions.

This is a fun experiment though. There are a lot of schemes I didn't know that still exists.
Some versatile schemes should be opted out though like Pure and Offchrome. I didn't see any Victorian or maybe it's just me.

This was definitely an eye-opener. Most of the choices were easy (i like desaturated colors, hate ombres 90% of the time, and most hue-shifts hurt my eyes), but there were a few really hard choices (stagony vs mute? auspicious vs enchanted???? gonk )

I would really be interested in seeing something like this where similar schemes were paired together. Going through them like that, it was easy to see just how similar some schemes are. Some that I noticed (and remember):

most of my preferences between the options are clear from the get-go

but the ones giving me trouble are:
Konpeito vs Carnivale,
Respectrum vs Sauvignon,
Retained vs Enticing,
Stagony vs Mute,
Skyward vs Librarian

overall though, i'm rooting for Ample and Latitude! (edit: >.< )

this was surprisingly tough lol. imo the best schemes are the ones that have warm/cool, desaturated/saturated colors right up against each other; i think it suits pixel art really well. will be interesting to see the results!!

Nah not kokeshi, independence, which is pretty old as a scheme too
I just think a lot of us dislike it / don't build with it.
(i love toxic, and like purples, but its nearly unusable for me despite owning a ton of it)

Discussion of polls in this thread has got me thinking about how after this poll it would be fun to do a knockout version in this style where you battle each scheme against another until you have your personal faves to least faves. Idk how one would make something like that tho considering its pretty far outside of what google forums can do crying
