Color Scheme Tournament | It is over!! ✦

Hello everyone!
Welcome to the Color Scheme Tournament!

Long story short, I've been thinking about which schemes are perceived to be popular vs which ones actually are.
Rather than going around asking in various spaces, I figured the easiest way to gauge things is through data collection!
So while the primary purpose of this thread is to talk about this in depth, this will also be a series of surveys to find out which Gaia-official scheme tops the rest.

How it works:
I took every scheme on the Tie Dye and Double Tie Dye lists and ran them through several shuffles to pair them at random.
(I would love to include usermade schemes but that would be never ending, sorry!)
Each tier, you all will vote on which of the two or three you prefer.
After each tier, they will be shuffled again and paired with something new.
We will start with 135 options and wittle them down to 3 finalists.
At the end of this, we will know which color scheme is truly the community favorite.
Vote for your favorites! If you get stuck, consider which of the two you would buy if money wasn't a barrier!

Disclaimers:
Schemes are truly paired at random.
I picked example images directly off the TD lists.
This is not affiliated with staff in any way! It is just for fun.
As the TD lists are ever growing, I may redo this again a year later! So anyone who has a scheme they're trying to get adopted, look out for next year's tournament.

Discussion questions for my stats nerds:

- What are your criticisms of the methodology used, considering the limitations?
- How would you host the poll with considerations to the large amount of options?
- Does the use of randomization truly remove bias, or should there have been consideration for popular vs unpopular schemes?
- Should the basics (offchrome, monochrome, pure) be removed for the sake of removing common denominators that may skew the votes?

it was also fun to see what my tastes are !!!

edit: o my predictions for top 3 will probably be pure, catharsis, offchrome. there is nothing more usable and overused as ivory, offblack and vintage.

I can possibly see either sandman or enchanted getting up there though

edit2: really not sure i understand why people would want to take specific schemes out if they know they'd 'win', isnt the point of the tournament to see what the #1 scheme is??? why would we limit ourselves because we know some picks would be popular, isn't that the point? also the entire tournament isn't meant to be accuracy based, it's for fun, it's for everyone that wants to put their two cents on schemes. if we just removed all the popular ones then there's really no point to doing it at all. nitpicking a google form isn't rlly what i expected out of this LOL

Not gonna lie there are few rounds that I have trouble choosing which color schemes to pick because I love both color schemes. ;3;

I think this is an interesting idea.
May be some flaws to it, whats stopping people from doing it multiple times, and that currently it's just in the GCD, where the CB/other parts of gaia have different ideas on things.

But interesting none the less regardless.

So far sprinkles vs blossom has been a difficult choice.
Also its difficult, because with say the above round, I do like and enjoy both schemes, so its not quite as true for the results where I pick one because I do like sprinkles more than a lot of other schemes, but blossom is just a little bit more my fave because its got more items with it on.

Maybe if it was like a huge ranking thing, where you can drag and drop the schemes to show which you like the most, that would be a bit more (fair isn't the word I want to use but its close enough and I cant remember the word I want)

I wonder what it would be like if you chose the pairings, where it was like similar schemes vsing each other and same colour types (like all reds being in one bracket)

omg this was genuinely so much fun to go through and vote! i, of course, had to vote for my top schemes which were royal icing, pearlescent, sauvignon, and opalescent, so those are the ones i hope go far! i am curious to see what schemes will make into the top 10, even, let alone the top 3 since there are so many to pick from.

if i had to make a solid guess at the top few schemes; it would have to be pure, enchanted, blackout/offchrome(?) and maybe even pearlescent to give some double schemes some love!

i was 100% influenced by the trend of tournaments on twitter HAHA
honestly if neutrals win this tournament i may do away with them on the next one... basics are basics for a reason but it would be fun to see actual colors win
i did consider keeping results secret but figured it would be best to be entirely transparent with them. unless you mean theres a different concern with having results visible?

i am very open to hearing out the flaws!! this is also very much me being a nerd about research and analysis
regarding the issue with multiple submissions, i basically had to weigh accessibility vs accuracy. i could have required usernames, or required google to make people be signed into their google accounts to vote. however, i knew this would deter some users for participating. seeing as its meant to be for fun, i figured the lapse in accuracy is worth having more people participate

i am also crossposting into cb for the same reason and encouraging people to share the form outside of the circles im in. gcd definitely feels different about schemes than cb so i am very interested in expanding the sample as much as possible. whether that actually works or not will be interesting to see

a ranking system could definitely work for the later tiers when the options are whittled down imo! because theres so many to start with, maybe users may not want to spend that much time sorting and sifting. but this is a fantastic idea for the finalist rounds for sure

Sadly, as far as I go, I don't have a favorite. Sure, I have some favorite colors, liking greens and oranges followed by reds and purples then yellows and blue...sure you are seeing a pattern.

But this was still fun and I am interested in seeing 'which one wins'.

Having Autumnal against Pure was so hard, lol. But some were easy to vote as they were my favorites like silken, sea bloom, dynasty, retained and kokeshi. I think it will be interesting how the next round will play out.
